I am having trouble with getting the Android SDK to work with Windows 7. I keep getting the error message in the title. The program files are in the folder C:Program Files (x86)Androidandroid-sdk-windows I am not sure what path this needs to be in.

I followed these tutorials to set up a Hello World Android app. But when I create a new java project I can't select a build target. It just says no targets available in the target selection box. I have confirmed that I am not having the UI issue described here (http://blog.rowancrane.com/2009/12/27/eclipse-new-android-project-cant-select-build-type-target), I actually have a message in the box saying there are no targets instead of an empty box. I also am using 1920x1080 res.
I'm guessing that eclipse is just not aware of my Android Targets? I installed them in the android SDK manager and see them listed under installed packages in the Android SDK manager (1.1, 1.6, ..., 2.2)

After reinstalling Eclipse and the Android development components I am getting the following error upon running the emulator on a virtual device:

I suspect that some configuration file in the project is hosed but cannot figure out which.
I'm trying to create an AVD, but I don't have any target ID's available. If I enter "android list targets" at the command prompt in the tools directory, I get an empty list.

My Eclipse project won't build because when it sees the build.xml created from the Android command, it starts looking for the debug and release commands. Well, since they are dynamically generated from the <setup> task, they don't exist. So now Eclipse (Build id: 20100218-1602) locking the project from build/run based on these errors. kay.. so here is the weird part: It worked this morning. In fact it has been working for weeks with the build.xml file sitting there. All I did was edit the build.xml file in Eclipse (changed some constants). Ant thinks everything is peachy.

When I try to start an emulator from Eclipse (Android SDK setup application) with the scale parameter it just fails. Second Command Prompt screen (which I think is actually a Java app) shows some exception but it closes itself right after. This is very annoying because without the scale, WVGA emulator does not fit on my laptop's screen. Any idea how to fix this? And when I try to start an emulator from Command Prompt with the scale, it works.
i heard of an app for windows7 phones called "Xbox Companion app => [URL] which is able to control the xbox remote with your phone.
Could that be ported to android? Or is there a port?
As advised by the experts, I did a factory reset when my phone went wacky on me. I didn't actually have Froyo installed when this happened, but as soon as I did the reset, I received a system prompt concerning the available upgrade and took it. My phone works better now, but but battery performance is about the same.
I have also been advised that battery performance (as in better than ever), among other things works best with a clean install, not the upgrade. Since I did a factory reset before taking the upgrade, I wonder if this is equivalent to a clean install, or if the clean install would still be worth my effort. If it's the latter, there is only one resource for clean install files which I have been referred to, which cannot help me because I don't have an XP machine available (I did try it on Windows 7). If a clean install is, in any case, the best option, are there any Win7 installation files available for Froyo?
For a semester project, I had the idea to implement Windows 7's Play to infrastructure to either use a phone as the end point (the player) or to stream stuff from the phone to a Windows 7 machine. Does anybody have experience working with this API? Is this do able over a couple of weeks (prototype, just proof of concept, not end-user ready) or is it too much for a project of this scope? Note: I'm not looking for code samples, just an assessment of the feasibility of this project. If you have any documentation from MS or otherwise that would be awesome although not the crux of the question.
I discovered that the Windows 7 Play-to functionality is based on DLNA and any device supporting DLNA (I think) can be used as a destination for the Play-To context menu. However, I'm having a really difficult time finding any sort of documentation on DLNA. I'm wondering if you need to be a member of the DNLA to actually get access to the spec? Alternatively, I know DLNA is built on UPnP, it wouldn't exactly do what I want, but it would be a step in the right direction, so, to revise my question does anybody know of any open-source C/C++ or Java (preferable) libraries that would help me implement UPnP or DLNA?

I see a lot of posts about writing to the SD card, but I believe my problem is different. I am unable to create the SD card during the process of building an AVD.
I initially tried to use the Android SDK and AVD Manager to do this, selecting
Name: my_avd
Target: Android 2.2 - API Level 8
SD Card: Size: 1024 MiB
Skin: Built-In: Default (HVGA)
Hardware: Property: Abstracted LCD Density, Value: 160
This pops up a window with the message:
"Result of creating AVD 'my_avd':
Error: Failed to create the SD card."
I tried to repeat the process from the command line, receiving a similar error:

Attempting to follow instructions for using mksdcard was equally unproductive; I think my basic lack of linux experience may be causing me a problem here. When I try to use mksdcard, it just reports that it cannot find the file or directory. Is the mksdcard tool available for use this way in linux?

I've added the android tools directory to my PATH variable, but I feel like there is obviously something else I'm missing. Perhaps some kind of access rights?

I even tried installing Eclipse and the ADT plugin and running the manager from there to no avail. Any tips would be most appreciated. Advanced warning that I am somewhat of a novice Linux user, so even if it seems like a no-brainer obvious thing to check, I could still have missed it.
The problem I had was when trying to sync my Evo 4g to Exchange 2010. I continually got the message "Failed to create the account. Please try again later". After searching on this site and trying everything on every thread, I was about to throw my hands up and send it back when I found the solution. This solution appears to not be posted on this site, so I figured I would help out others that might run into the problem in the future. I have done this now 2 or 3 times for other users that have had this issue and it has corrected it. I don't claim this solution will work for everyone, it simply what I did to correct for my users. I would suggest trying what other threads have as solutions before trying this one.
View 19 Replies View RelatedIm here because of my problem with SGA 2.Few days ago I bought ACE 2 and I found few problems with "external_sd".So the problems are
1. When I try to create folder it gives me error "Creation failed"
2. When trying to move folder from internal memory to external sd it gives me error like "Moving failed", while copying goes fine.
3. I can move/copy any file to sd card, but sometimes those files got corrupted, gives me error about memory when trying to open pictures, same problem when saved camera saved photo to sd card. Even getting error when trying to play video.
APK files got corrupted too.
4. When I have moved apps to sd card some while apps work great, but after some time cant launch apps because it gives me error about that app doesnt exist.
I tried formatting sd card with pc and android.
Factory reset.
Repartition to same firmware with Odin.
Wipe cache, wipe data.
I dunno what causes those error, bugs, glitches. Is it phone or android sytem?
Tried many sd card and always got same errors. But when I mounted mine sd card to another phone it worked perfect.
Trying to set up my eclipse envirnment to actually be able to try some things out on android...
I've installed the sdk, put it in my path variable, installed the ADT, downloaded the "developer tools" from the eclpise menu..
But... Then I go to the command line, navigate to the tools folder of my sdk, and run "android create avd --target 2 --name mine"
and I get this "error":
Error: Target id is not valid. Use 'android.bat list targets' to get the target ids.
So, I of course happily run the 'android.bat list targets' and get the following message!
"Available Android Targets:"
That's it. There are no targets.... I open the AVD window in eclipse, there are no targets... I click "New" in that window, and a target is required, but the drop down is disabled because there are NO AVD TARGETS.
I'm really new at this. I'm following the book "Android" by O'Reilly press a little outdated, I'm using Pulsar for Mobile Java Developers. Build id: 20090920-1017 I go to File, New Project, Android, Android Project. I enter "Hello World" for Project Name. Then I get "An SDK Target must be specified." There is a check box but it says "no target specified". How do I get this resolved and how do I get to the command line?

To summarize it lists the following OS, ordered by priority:
