Because of the way I rooted my phone through pre-kitchen I have 2 recovery images on my SD card, v1.2.3.img and v1.5.2.img. I am running RA 1.5.2 so I assume I can just delete v1.2.3.img but want to make sure. Secondly after installing Fresh's flash patch I can delete the zip correct?
View 4 Replies View RelatedTried to look it up but couldn't find an answer. Was just wondering why I would want to flash the 1.5.2 recovery instead of continuing to use the 1.2.3 image I already have.

No matter what I do I cant get past step 9. I keep getting permission denied. Please help I have been messing with this for hours.
I have a Sprint Hero CDMA which is like half-rooted?
It was not rooted, was running on the Sprint 2.1 update. I dropped it back down to .5, got through the rooting aspect, have SuperUser in my app tray, but now it won't let me boot into the recovery menu!
Every time I try, it just pops up a black screen with a phone on it and a big red Caution symbol over it...
Any ideas how to fix this so I can finish rooting my phone or even use the recovery menu options?
well I successfully have my phone rooted and was finally going to get around to installing a new ROM on my phone today. However when I tried to make a nandroid backup my phone wouldn't start up into the recovery thing to let me make a backup, instead it would just sit at the white and green HTC page indefinitely until I would pull the battery at. Any ideas on how to fix this?

View 24 Replies View RelatedMy niece recently got this phone and dropped it the other day. It landed on the volume down button and now gives an error when she restarted it about no Sim Recovery or something like that. I haven't seen it yet as I won't see her again til the weekend. Is their anything she can do to fix the issue. I had her remove the battery and while the cover was off she was able to get the volume down button unpressed and working again.
When placing the battery back in the phone will no longer power on. Is recovery loaded by the volume down and power button? I thought I read somewhere the Home key was also needed to boot into recovery on the phone. Can I download any stock back up to place on her SIM card if infact this is the issue? Thanks for the help. I have a moment and I know it in an out but the hero is new to me still. I am gonna have her take it to sprint if we can't figure this out if I must but I hate dealing with the local repair center.
I am using a CDMA HTC Hero (sprint). I have rooted the device via Universal Androot which worked flawlessly. I am now trying to flash a custom rom, which is already loaded onto my SD Card (Red Dawn). Here in lies my problem:
Using Rom Manager, I flashed the ClockworkMod Recovery successfully but when i chose to ""Reboot from Recovery" the phone gets hung up at the white HTC boot screen indefinitely until I battery pull.
I have tried many, many different approaches and am now seeking some desperate advise as to how to get into recovery mode so i may flash the new rom. I have tried to enter recovery manually (vol down/pwr on) only for it to get hung on the HTC screen as soon as I chose recovery. I have tried to "Flash Alternative Rom" and the re-flashing the ClockworkMod Recovery all to no avail.
Does anyone use this app? Can anyone vouch for it for the Sprint Hero? I am thinking of flashing its ClockworkMod Recovery since I have been having issues with the Recovery Image 1.6.2.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Hero using the manual rooting guide in this forum. everything seemed to go fine. Since then, I have tried ROM Manager, entering recovery mode using adb, holding down the volume button and pressing the end button, and holding down the home button and pressing the end button. They all have the same reaction, the phone will come up with the htc logo and then the screen goes blank and then the only thing I can do after that is remove the battery. Sometimes the only thing that is different is the htc logo will stay on the screen and freeze at that point, once again requiring me to remove the battery to do anything. I have tried this using three different recovery images 1.2.3, 1.5.2, and 1.6.2...all of them have the same outcome when I try to enter recovery.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am stuck at step 8 in the manual rooting steps. When I type in the recovery boot, I don't enter into recovery mode. Instead, all I see is nothing but the white HTC, standing there unless I take the battery out and boot it back to regular OS. Do I have to hold home button and power button, immediately after I enter -recovery boot? and what button is the power button to make sure?
I know I did the first few steps of the inputing codes correctly, but how do I know I flashed my recovery image 1.6.2 correctly? When I typed into cmd: flash_image recovery recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img
I immediately got that # sign below it. Do i have to wait for a minute or so before doing recovery boot? I know I pushed my recovery to my SD correctly, it says the kilobytes on the cmd screen and can find it on SD memory.
And one more thing" I typed in both these codes as written: adb push recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img /sdcard and flash_image recovery recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img throughout the rooting process. Does it matter if I put a "c" after "hero" in both of those codes, because when I do, I get no file and directory error. And the reason I took out the "c" was because my file was named, recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2, originally when I downloaded it, so that is probably why I got the error of no file directory when I added a "c" after hero in those coding inputs.
I have never rooted my phone before. I am running 2.27.651.6. I am trying to follow the instructions here to install Fresh Rom 2.1.2.
When I turn my phone off and try to boot into recovery mode by holding down the Home and Power buttons, I get a picture of a phone with a little red exclamation point beside it that will not go away. I eventually had to take the battery out of the back of it to get it to go away. Put the battery back in and it works fine but I would really like to install that Rom.
I have a Sprint Hero that I have rooted and in trying to do a Nandroid backup have found myself unable to get to recovery mode. I hold Home, hit power and the system hangs on the initial HTC screen until I remove the battery. After that the phone will boot into the regular OS just fine.
Now I am kinda stuck here, without recovery mode I can't even restore my phone back to stock can I? It's not urgent since my phone works normally otherwise.
To use more features in the ROM Manager app I decided to flash the Clockwork recovery image from Rom Manager.I got the message the image had flashed so I tried to restart my phone to make sure it flashed and to make a nandroid with the new image.Phone would not boot into recovery for me.So I pulled the battery (phone was stuck on "HTC" screen), waited 10 seconds, replaced battery and tried starting the phone in regular mode instead of recovery. That worked. So I tried restarting in recovery mode again.Failed again. Figured the problem was in the Clockworkmod recovery image. So I pulled/waited/replaced the battery again and restarted the phone in regular mode.Used the USB to get to my SD card and went into the file for the Clockwork recovery image and deleted it.Then I pasted the 1.6.2 RA back onto my SD card and planned to flash it.
But I have not been able to flash the image because all my phone does now id get to the "HTC" screen and stays there.Nothing else to show it is booting up.Finally pulled my SD card and put it in my card reader on my computer.Pasted the Clockworkmod recovery image back into the correct folder, thinking I might be able to at least get the phone to boot up in regular mode. No luck.Just goes to the "HTC" screen I see every start-up and stays there. So the 1.6.2 RA is on the root of my SD but not flashed. The Clockworkmod image is back in it's folder but not re-flashed.
i just discovered that in the ROM manager app you can update your clockworkmod recovery version, i updated to v2.5.0.1 and when i boot into recovery mode it looks completely different now, its a different color green, its got different options, and instead of pressing home as the ok you have to scroll down past like 7 no's to get to yes. is it supposed to be like this and should i always keep it updated? is there anything else i should always check updates for? im running froyo nightlys on a (sprint) cdma htc hero with google

My question do I delete the RA 1.5.2 on my phone then push or do I just push 1.6.2 and is that it? Is there more steps after placing a new Recovery Image.

View 7 Replies View RelatedToday my phone started continuously re-booting itself. Only gets to the HTC screen and then re-boots. I have done multiple battery pulls with no results. I cannot boot into recovery either, tried that many times as well. My only option is a screen that I have not seen before that asks if I want to clear all data and then reset the device.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed ROM Mananger to make Nandroid Backups. Attempted the first step "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and keep getting "An Error occurred while flashing your Recovery".
I then installed Titanium Backup and updated to the latest BusyBox, the tried again. error.
Tried to reboot and uninstall ROM Manager and reboot again... still error.
Tried to flash older versions of ClockworkMod. error.
Let me start off by saying I did/still do have a nandroid and also a custom ROM zip on my SD. I used the ROM manager application to wipe data/cache, like I have done about 10 times this past week, and flashed a new ROM. So my phone reboots to recovery, "clockwork mod recovery", you have to use this recovery to use ROM manager, and instead of flashing the ROM, it gives me some error message. Now for anyone who isn't familiar with clockwork recovery, you can't flash a nandroid from it, you have to revert back to the stock recovery to flash a nandroid, or at least I do.
So now all I can do is reboot my hero which brings me back to stock 2.1 with no root access. Now I know what your thinking, "just flash your nandroid", but now I can't. To flash my nandroid I would have to reflash the stock recovery image through ROM manager, and now I'm stuck with the clockwork recovery image because ROM manager requires root to swap recoveries, and no ability to nandroid back to where I was before. Basically, unless there is a way to change my recovery back to stock without being rooted currently.
I have a Sprint HTC Hero 2.1 Update 6. Today, I installed universal one-click root app onto my phone from this link : [APP] [ROOT] 1-click root for N1 (Latest ver: 1.6.2 beta 5) - xda-developers and I believe I got my phone rooted. Now, I am hoping to get custom recovery image installed on my phone so that I can nandroid back up my current stock 2.1 based image before installing CM6. I was hoping to try clockworkmod through ROM Manager app. Does this image work in HTC Hero ? If not, is there any other recovery image that I should try for my 2.1 hero ?
