Sprint Hero rooted phone on stock ROM. Is there a simple way to move applications to the sd card without using a custom ROM? As the phone memory is junk. Also, is there a custom ROM out there for froyo 2.2 w/ sense?

View -1 Replies View RelatedSo I rooted my phone, did a nanodroid back-up, and added a custom Rom. At first I flashed MoCaDo onto the phone but I had a lot of force closes. So I flashed Fresh .5 over MocaDo 1.1 and the force closes stop. The phone feels a lot zipper. I have WiFi tether. Spare parts is great. Now how do I move apps to the sd card to free up more space?

I'm a complete noob to rooting and what I gathered from the guides is that all data is erased. Is there any way (regardless of how complicated) such taht I don't lose any data/apps and just gain root access?

I presume one might want to move apps to the SD card to "free up some space" but is that the ONLY reason to move the apps to the card?? Is anyone NOT WAITING until space on the phone is an issue and moving the apps to the card right now?? Are there certain apps that are recommended to be on the phone for proper/faster performance? (I know this was an issue with the Palm Centro I used to have where certain apps HAD TO reside on and launch from the phone)?? What are the general pros/cons (if any, besides "saving space," perhaps regarding performance or other concerns) with leaving apps on the phone vs. the SD card?

I want to back up my apps though, so I go into manage applications and pick an app, but the 'move to SD card' option is grayed out. Also, to hard reset all I have to do is from home screen touch menu-settings-privacy- factory data reset - reset phone. Or is there something I should do instead?

There are still a lot of apps I would like to DL and try out, but before doing that I would like to move as much as possible to the SD card, it says I have 3.67 GB available, so plenty of room. I realise there are a few threads about this, but I thought I would make a new one for my easier guide, and hopefully people will find it more easily as they won't have to scroll through pages of other threads to find an answer. I am now successfully running most apps from my SD Card now. I just thought I would make an easier guide as the others are fairly complex for noobs like me............
Just followed instructions on how to move apps to sd card on an unrooted device....all worked well, moved what i wanted to, but would now like to put phone back to default settings to install apps to phone memory.
I tried to open run command on my pc with phone connected and typed pm setInstallLocation 0.....but all that comes up is command is not recognized.
Is there anyway to move apps/games onto my SD Card, I have an 8gb sd card and its 95% free, the memory on my phone is almost at full capacity, and I keep getting that annoying message that says "Low on Space" on my notifications bar.

I know you long press the app you want to move, and select the choice to move it. is TiBu shows the notification of it being moved. I then go back into setting, look at the apps on SD card, and they do not show up. I am running NexBeast FRF57 V0.1.1. My Titanium Backup is at version 3.2.4, I can reboot, still doesnt work. Superuser shows Titanium has permissions, so I am not sure what the deal is.

I read somewhere about booting into recovery and partitioning my sd card from ext2 to ext3 or something like that, but when I go into recovery I don't see that option.
I thought that when we have 2.2 we can move apps to the SD card and we are able to set up apps to auto update I am not seeing either feature
