Jul 25, 2010Is there any application or means of connecting to the wifi internet by having a dynamic ip address but change the gateway and port no. to be connected to? I can access the internet through a particular gateway and port no. only. If there is someway i can do this, it will be really helpful. I stay in a hostel where we have wifi access, but i need to specify these specific address to access internet.

I am going to germany (note that I'm from the Netherlands ^.^) for this week and I don't want to have a huge bill for internet use in foreign country's. So I would like to disable my Internet for just this week.
My problem is I can't figure out how.... I can't find anything in the settings menu, and I can't find an app for it.
On my mothers phone (Nokia 5800) I could set up a password. So everytime the phone wanted to use internet, it needs a PW. is there any options for the galaxy aswell?

I enabled the usb debug mode and when I connect the phone to the computer, it says new hardware found but then it cannot find the driver. I point it to the Samsung directory but it says "Windows was unable to install your Unknown device"..............

Oct 27, 2010I think it's time I turn to the forums with this issue if I'm ever gonna get GAOSP fully working on my device.BEHAVIOR: The two latest Nightlys I've flashed have given me a 3g-symbol and working connection on either the first boot (without gapps installed) or the second, after installing gapps. The problem is that over consecutive reboots (to change themes, settings, just to try etc.) the 3g-data rarely returns. I have been rebooting the device for 20 times in a row without getting it to connect to 3g-data. Using the *#*#INFO#*#*-menu and "enable data connection" doesn't work. Changing to WCDMA-band only may help with frequency of working reboots, but it's hard to tell. Some times (on some combinations of ROM/baseband) switching airplane-mode on/off has worked.
OBSERVATIONS: What I have observed is happening is that whenever 3g-data isn't working, the APN-list i empty. If I create a new APN it will not show after I have pressed save. If I reboot until i get 3g-data again, the new APN will show up together with the original ones. I've had this problem occur with many different ROMs from what I can remember, but to vastly varying extents.
There seems to be some connection to baseband too, because even on galaxo 1.6.3.4 I've had lots of problem with anything newer than II5, or even newer than IH8 to be completely stable, until I used jakax 3g-fix: Fix 3G/UMTS network interruptions with donut and JC6 AMSS. Since then I have been using JC6 with Galaxo 1.6.3.4 and only losing 3g-data on 1 of 5 reboots or so. jakax's fix Isn't for this problem though, so I've no idea why it helps!?I've heard some others having similar problems, but most seem to have been solved in some update or they sold their devices or something, because no thread has come to any solution really. My device was one of the first and bought from Germany and is being used in Sweden, could this affect it it any way? I have seen some threads of problems with android APNs disappearing when certain MNC-numbers are entered, but I never found any explanation or solution there either.

Aug 24, 2009I just got a Galaxy (i7500) and I'm trying to connect it to the Samsung PC Studio 3, running on Asus EeePC 1000HE, Win XP Home.

I'm using the phone in Israel, provider is Cellcom, phone is unlocked.
Problem:
When trying to connect the phone to the netbook I attempted BT and USB - both failed.
In BT, the PC Studio finds the Galaxy and prompts to type a PIN to authenticate. I type 1234, hit 'Send'. On the handset I get a message saying another device is trying to connect, but with a random 6-digits PIN, which I cannot edit - hence pairing fails. I tried vice-versa (handset first, type the 6-digits to the PC Studio, hit 'Send') - same results.
In USB mode, PC Studio is always 'Not connected', even though the phone is connected, in Data Transfer mode. I also tried just connecting the USB without 'Data transfer' - same result. No connection.
I tried pairing Nokia E71 with the Galaxy, entered at the E71 1234 as the pin, then 1234 at the Galaxy - and it worked fine. Any idea how to fix the PC Studio problem? I want to sync my Contacts/Calendar from Outlook, and keeping them there (not importing all my data to Google..)
Samsung I7500 : WiFi Wont Connect To Vigor 2910 / How To Fix?
Dec 5, 2009I just got my i7500 in today and I've been trying to get it hooked up on my wireless router, a Draytek Vigor 2910. I've tried WEP and WPA/PSK, both won't work. The WEP is trying and says "obtaining IP address from ..." for a while, but then it goes dead saying unsuccessful. In my router I can see the phone connecting in the active list (the mac address shows while trying to connect), but than it disappears again. The Draytek uses a 13 position WEP key. Setting the phone to automatic doesn't work, nor does specifying WEP. I also tried to use WPA. The Draytek is now set to WEP or WPA/PSK (Mixed WPA + WPA2) with a 8 position WPA PSK. My i7500 shows the connection as WPA2, but it won't even try to connect. According to some FAQ I also need the setting TKIP, but I can not choose that on the i7500. Did any of you have the same problem, or even better.

Jul 16, 2010I've been through a lot of these forums and haven't found my particular problem discussed, so I'm finally posting hoping someone can help... I'm American but I live in Istanbul so the the Galaxy i7500 I've got didn't even come with the Market app and support here is impossible.
I've been able to flash stock and custom ROMs but I can't connect to my carrier (Turkcell) afterward. I can only use WiFi to do things like get access to the market, but then I have to do a restore to use my phone properly.
