View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an unlocked 02-germany Galaxy on Orange UK. This was all news to me today that the Galaxy users aren't entitled to Over-The-Air updates nor is it apparently a "Google" phone in the same way the HTC G1 is. (Samsung, when are we getting Donut?). I'm not clear what the distinction is. Maybe someone can tell me. This is a big let down to be honest, I wouldn't have probably bought the device if I knew this. Even app updates nots don't come through and my bro has been showcasing Donut on his G1 (also on Orange UK) all morning to make matters worse. Any news on when we get donut now? Is this the only non-OTA updated Android device. How does one confirm this? I presume the Magic is however.

View 10 Replies View RelatedEven though i`m disappointed with samsung for not providing the firmware updates but i am happy to search for new firmwares and know things on how to root my phone or actually what is rooting. I am able to learn my phone instead of just using. Even though i use a lot of time on it but i dont think it is waste.
View 42 Replies View RelatedIs it my imagination or does the radio in this version have lower reception than previous versions? It never was a stellar performer in this area, my G1 sitting next to my Galaxy would have much better reception (I'm talking like -80something dbm vs -110ish dbm- btw I pulled those numbers out of my a$$ cause I don't remember what exactly they were but there was that big a disparity when I looked right after I got my Galaxy). Now I'm having signal issues where I didn't before. Previously in my basement I'd get 1-2 bars of signal with edge reception (I only get 3G upstairs with my Galaxy). I installed I5 firmware yesterday and hdblog's galaxhero today after using H2 for AGES. Tonight I'm getting 0-1 bars, with very frequent full disconnects with no reception at all. ><
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with BT on my Galaxy, it somehow gets stuck and forgets the settings:
- If I go out of range with my BT headset, and than back in range, sometimes a single click on headset button will make it reconnect with the phone, as it should.
- But, sometimes it will not reconnect (even by manually reconnecting from the phone WirelessBluetooth menu), and also it cannot "Scan for devices" - a click on that will not do anything, the phone does not scan for other devices, even though BT seems to be on.
- If I restart BT at this point, it will forget its "Device name" and say "Galaxy" in that field. Also cannot search for devices.
- If I restart it again, the "Device name" will be "No name set, using account name"; scanning will not work. Further BT restarts keep it in this state, only restart of the phone helps.
I'm on JB2 firmware.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe Samsung Galaxy K4 firmware update includes a new virtual keyboard alternative, named "Samsung keyboard", in addition to the stardard "Android keyboard". (Sorry, I have yet to succeed in taking screen shots; I will post some if I find any.) What are your thoughts on this? There are a bunch of different layouts ("Qwerty", "12 keypad", "20 keypad"), all accessible from a popup menu. All layouts seem to be missing a shift key (relying instead of a popup selection for "abc"/"Abc"/"ABC"/"Numeric and symbols"/"Emoticons"), and there seems to be no press-for-variants feature to access characters with umlauts. You can set the keyboard language. Available languages are: Automatic (based on carrier?), English, German, Dutch, Polish, French, Czech, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.
All layouts use T9 prediction, and the dictionary adapts to the selected language. Also, it appears that the dictionary is not shared with the Andoid user dictionary (accessible within Settings->Locale). I like that they've done it. It shows that Samsung have not completely given up support for this device, that they do have developers assigned to it. The keys are nice and large, and they've made good use of the landscape format. I don't know if they are using a context-sensitive key-enlarging-function like HTC have, but my typo rate seems to have decreased. I find the lack of a shift key very inconvenient, especially when entering passwords. Having to open a popup to enter a capital is two, three, maybe four additional taps -- they could have made much better use of long-press and off-key swipes. The lack of the press-for-variants feature means that, if you require umlauts, you must either switch to the appropriate language or, if it doesn't exist, use another keyboard. Since none of the Scandinavian languages are supported, I cannot use this keyboard.
i need link for last 7500 firmware that i can use with odin and 100 % working

View 13 Replies View RelatedI've installed galaxo (galaxhero to be precise) for quite a while now and it's been awesome. Only thing is, my Chinese ID3 tags come out as gibberish, I think it's 'cause of the II5 firmware. I've read threads about flashing to II5 before installed galaxo, but since updated versions have been coming out, I just wanted to find out. Is galaxo strictly only for II5? Meaning it isn't backward NOR forward compatible? My gibberish ID3 tags are really bugging me.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAt least it looks like that to me. Many have reported it can be cured with disabling Network Location, then it was the basebands that could help, then it looked like the problem is in USB charging. Well my no sleep is a unique one and I dare to say it has nothing to do with anything and it's total luck. My Galaxy goes into no sleep as soon as I receive a call. JC6+galaxo. First it was with JC6 baseband as I said in the JC6 thread. Then I flashed II5 baseband and it worked great. It was fast, WPA Ent worked. But off course, I received a call and it went into no sleep again. No network location, no USB plugging in, looks like it is triggered by unique things. I'm officially tired of this piece of junk. I'm going back to my II5 nandroid backup. And I was so happy with JC6. Damn you Samsung. If this isn't resolved in one month I'm spending money and getting a Hero. (cheap enough, and at least it has tons of 2.1 firmwares).

1.so what it is the easiest and best way to install a firmwere on my phone ?
2.what is the best firmwere?
3.i need hebrew on my phone , how do i install it later ?
and i heard that firmwere now dont come with google stuff ... will i still be able to sync my gmail and calander and contacts oh what about market?
I installed the 1.6 but I notice a battery life is less than the GalaxHero!
Example: Finish charge yesterday at 20, switched into standby until 00:30, put on the Airplane mode until 7:30.....charge battery to 91%
Until now, almost always on standby, 3 minutes of calls, 5 minutes of WiFi connection....Battery 60%!
I think it wear the charge very quickly ... What do you think?
I also noticed a bug on connecting / disconnecting the cable from the PC, if I check "Notify SD Card" or if I not check it the phone rings, too!
I am trying to get my hands on the Original Optus Firmware for Australia - my phone has stopped reading SIM cards (it is definitely hardware as I have flashed multiple different ROMS) and I need to get back to stock for warranty's sake. I have done some research but have been unable to find it. I believe that the number for it should be i7500DTII5 (according to this site).

View 22 Replies View RelatedI've had the Galaxy for over 3 weeks now, and it seems that no matter what I do, I can't get the battery to last a day even. Even killing apps, shutting of all networks and GPS, even turning on Airplane mode... the battery drains at alarming rates. It seem that the Galaxy simply does not go to sleep. On analyzing the battery history, the phone seems to be spending ridiculous times running with the screen off. From about 90% when running "normally" to even 20% to 30% with everything turned off. I'd like to hear other people's experiences.
