Is it possible to change the program that is accessed when you select one of the 4 bottom buttons? I use Handcent sms and would like to be able to click the message icon and Handcent opens up rather then The samsung one.

Does anyone know how to reset / change the default action/program i.e. that begins when clicking a file in astro manager.Originally I had the choice within Astro manager when choosing a jpeg to view the jpeg with astro image viewer or the default android/htc image viewer.I ticked the little box that said always use this program, but now I would like the choice of programs again.

I don't want the android emoticons or image emoticons, I'm trying to change the emoticons that show up below (it's a little large). I'm not sure if this is the Samsung keyboard or if it's just a steam app thing, because the little button down below only shows up in steam, but when I press and hold it it sends them as actual text, like : -) instead of .
Now, I like that it's text, I just don't like that they have dashes for noses, how or even if it can be changed.
i bought two samsung galaxy s and both have their own individual issues mine has the issue of turning off by itself which i found previous post about but the other one which im posting about consistently changes the background back to the default bubble blue live wallpaper, would anyone know if this is a app issue or a hardware issue with the phone becuase i wanna make sure i go back and exchange it, if thats the issue, if its something that can be fixed then please give me the solution because i really dont wanna exchange it and setup the phone all over again for my girlfriend.

One thing that has escaped me thus far despite all my googling and digging through menus and options in the phone is a way to display the full titles of programs. Ie: I'm running Opera Mini and the icon in the applications menu and on my home screen says "Opera Min" and then the text fades off. I would like it to just say "Opera Mini." Eight characters(ish) for a filename is so Windows 3.1, I would think there would be a way to have the full name displayed.

I have two photograph widgets on one of my screens, one set up for newly taken pictures and one set up for newly shot video. The only problem is, I don't know how to change the default video save location. I am using the astro file manager and have seen that all videos and pictures save into a file named DCIM on my SD card. How do I change this to make it save pictures and videos into different files?I have made a different file for my videos and manually moved them into the folder but the phone is still saving new videos to the same old default place.

I tried to use beutiful widgets or some other widgets but my processing power gets high (also battery usage) and force close messages are make me nuts.
But then I thing it must related to ram issues (after copilot usage) becouse we have limitted ram.. my firend have a hero and she uses copilot faster like google maps...
So I installed root required memory programs like autokiller & minfreemanager.. and readjust memory values...

When I make this changes my app launcher and other programs works faster than before and the transitions are better much better than before and less force closes...
I write it becouse I am very happy now... & just kind of information for the pros ...
Also I found problems ( no widgets or apps running behind) looking from System pannel monitoring is off
- Auto Brightness option doesn't work after restart (stays same)
- when Orientation option is selected the battery consumption is more or much more (maybe calculation)
- when the Bluetooth wifi and gps options are seleceted (means open) battery consuption or calculation is less than close...
- Bluetooth stereo has problems... buttons play pause not working stable
- Wifi doesn't connect after disconnected for a while... (screen policy set to when screen turns off)
Also advanced launcher is buggy ..
if drakaz can install adw launcher .... I am very happy ( also we can able to update it from market) becouse if i use it or other launchers dial pad contact list comes later or take time...
Android keybord don't have Turkish characters like Ş,Ğ, I, ş, ğ, ı if it's possible it is very good for us to have...
May I know how to delete or replace the 4 default icons (Dialer, Contacts, Messaging, and Applications) on the Galaxy S main screen? The reason for me doing this is because I wanted to use the Handcent SMS app instead of the default Android SMS app as I am getting used to the Handcent one.

Using Dialer One, or Phone. And it gives me the option to "Use by default for this action".So, lets say I want to use Dialer One by default, but then I change my mind. After I booted my phone, my screen got zoomed in instead of decreasing. Now I cant even type up my password cause the numbers can't fit in the screen. I have no access to my phone because my phone is locked. Btw, I have a Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670 (rooted) .

after changing some router settings (like the number of the channel) my SGS2 on 4.0.3 ICS doesn't connect anymore. WiFi itself is working fine, except the AP of the router i changed. Deleting all AP information and reentering all WPA2 data will change nothing. In my eyes the phone is not forgetting AP data completely when you try to delete an AP entry.

It said update is complete but it just needs to reboot so i said yes. Now when i switch my phone on it turns on and when it gets to the Samsung logo it just flashes and stays on the Samsung logo. I have tried connecting my phone to kies but i have had a problem with my phone connecting to the computer. - from the home screen, menu->add->shortcut->contact
- contact manager comes up; select contact
- the icon appears on the home screen.
Then when I tap the shortcut, it pops up a menu (call/info/message/email icons). Tapping the "call" icon displays all the available phone #s for that contact.However, I used "Mark as default" to set a default number for that contact, and now it dials that number right away instead of giving me the choice of numbers. I want to UNDO this, and clear the default number setting but I cannot figure out how to do it!

Can I set default notification time & type (email vs pop-up) from within this app across all calendars, individual calendars, or not at all? If I open Google Calendar on a PC, I know how to set default notifications on a per calendar basis, but cannot figure out how to do it within this Calendar app.
I'm not rooted with anything, however I am running Open Home. I also installed the Windows7 Icon Pack for use. However, I wish to change some of the icons it defaults to when I load them up (particularly the Market icon, which defaults to the Recycle Bin).Is there a way to do this manually? or do I need to download another software from the market? I have rings extended and have changed most of my contacts ringtones and they have stayed, but whenever I go to settings and change it and then either shut my phone off, plug it in, whatever, it causes it to go back to default. I have tried ringdroid and that seems to only work as a ringtone maker, it will not show up in the menu to change tones like Rings Extended does. I also moved my ringtones to an appropriate folder for access. I also have adw launcher now (previously Launcherpro plus-which made no difference)
