hey, ever since installing the swype beta (which sucks on this phone btw) im getting a red cirlce with a number 2 over it in the status bar. Im pretty sure it is related to swype but im not sure what its trying to tell me...any help?is there any app that takes screen shots so i can post up?

When I have a status bar notification with a number inside, it shows the number fine. But later if I show another notification to replace this one, with no number, it shows an empty red circle. This circle shouldn't be there. How do I remove the red circle? See image here: http://jump.fm/UYHGV.

It's strange - I've only had the phone a few days, got one at the same time as my wife. For some reason the Phone number according to my device is my wife's number although it definitely has my SIM card in the slot and is functioning with the right number. Whereas my wife's device reads unknown in this field. How can I change it to my number?

View 6 Replies View RelatedNot really a "problem" per se, but an annoyance.I ported my number across to Orange from Voda but in the Phone Status the MSISDN field is still displaying the old number. It's not that I can't remember my number (it's a memorable no. which is why I wanted to keep it), but it's annoying me as I can't seem to get this field to reflect the change.I've tried rebooting it after leaving the SIM out but no difference.Is this just a "bug" or is it something Orange will have to fix/update for me by sending a request to my SIM or something?

Twitroid has the same icon. Any idea how it's done? I don't think (or so I hope) there are 10000 similar icons. Is this red circle generated and overlaid the notification icon?

I get way too much email to have it play a sound every time one comes in, but I do still want to be able to see at a glance when I have new messages I've figured out how to change the ringtone, but there's no option to use no ringtone at all. I'm hoping there's a better solution than recording a blank ringtone!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running 4.4.2 on nexus 5. All I'm trying to do is put a custom carrier logo image in the top left of my status bar. I used the method in this thread- [URL] to do it. Although this is for ICS roms specifically, I compared both status_bar.xml's from KK and ICS and they are VERY simlar. So I figured this would work. I like to do most of my themeing with the use of zip themer so I built a custom image (yes, its the correct size) called "carrier_logo.png" and stuck it my drawable-xxhdpi folder and added that line of code to my status_bar.xml and flashed the update.zip. When I reboot, the phone is in chaos and I get a repeated message over and over that systemUI has stopped, plus my status bar is completely gone lol. I'm assuming that line of code is just not compatible with KK systemui. So...how do I go about calling an image from my drawable-xxhdpi folder into the status bar's top left corner from my status_bar.xml?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI picked up a Nexus One last week from someone who got it from the TED Conference. Apparently Google also gave out a SIM card with a month of service on T-Mobile. When I go to Settings / Call settings / Voicemail settings and the number shows the number that was given at the TED Conference, which is the old SIM. I keep changing it to my phone number as I am using my SIM. It takes the changes but if I reboot the phone, it reverts back to the old number.

(Settings => "About phone" => Status ) - as the SIM number before my "previous 'phone" number was PAC'd and ported... The PAC transfer happened about 3 weeks ago.,... The phone appears when calling anyone else as my transferred number, rings when called as the transferred number, ... but the beast reports the original, old" number. As it happens I've also done a "Factory reset" on the N1 ... Weird... so everything works as it should do, but the number is miss-reporting...
Any suggestions...e.g. ????

Basically I'm trying to get my Wife/teens to stop using carrier text messaging without having to explain to them how to use two different applications to send texts.
Doesn't have to be Google voice, really any app that will act as the default messaging app and when texts come in over the Verizon number and they reply to the text the recipient gets the "free" text number to respond to will work - Gvoice just seemed like the easy choice.
What I'm looking to do is change the reply-to number that gets sent to text message recipients from the default messaging app, Go SMS or Handcent SMS. What I do NOT want to do is have two separate text messaging apps. I want all texts to come from one application.
The idea here is to avoid paying Verizon text messaging charges and eventually block carrier text messaging altogether by using Google voice to send/receive all SMS.
Ideally this is how it would work - When a friend sends me a txt using my Verizon number I get a notification. I click reply and then press send and one of two things happens:
1. Instead of sending the text over Verizon's network the text automatically sends it through Google voice and my friend sees my Google voice number and replies to it, essentially encouraging them to use the new phone number but seamless from my perspective.
2. Another alternative is to send the text message over Verizon's SMS network but have the reply-to number be my Google voice number so when they reply it will go through Google voice.
While #1 will more quickly reduce the number of text messages sent through the carrier network what's most important is I'm using the same app for all texting.
I don't mind purchasing an app that can do this either.
I using a rooted Galaxy Nexus.
I have the Galaxy Nexus with ver 4.3. When I type a letter in the top row I often get a number printed. Whats up??
