I was and I am so excited with my phone. How can I be happy with my phone if some of the basic features are not working properly? I am very frustrated with my phone not because of the bugs but because it really affected my life.
1. Alarm issue, Motorola wants the user to be searching in the forums to find a solution to a core function? I got to work late by 1 hour the first time this occurred.
2. Yesterday suddenly when I unlocked my phone there was nothing on the home screens, and I have the stock home application. I was going right left, and nothing was there!
3. The music player suddenly starts playing. I was in a meeting and suddenly the music player starts playing! What should I say to the other people? There's a bug in my Milestone and Motorola is just too lame to fix it.
I just got a milestone and tried out the google navigation, it pegged me int he right city like 4 seconds which is good, but then proceeded to say its only accurate to 5000m and said I was on the edge of town, when I was in fact in the center as a store, is there a way to improve accuracy? does it get better when you go into big cities? Can I change the tracker or something? Does it help if I leave the maps on quicker? I only left it open for about 15 seconds, someone said that the gps tracker is very slow, is there a way to change it? I am planning on rooting this phone very soon so let me know.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI received my new Milestone yesterday, and I have to say I am very impressed so far. I got it from Telecom Personal in Argentina. It is like the European GSM Milestone but operates in the 850/1900 UMTS frequencies.
After the long wait and through reading about the droid/milestone I am surprised Voice search/dial are not available out of the box. At first I thought it was not available in Spanish (our native language) but after switching the phone to English it wasn't there either.
Is there a way to install Voice Search ? I wouldn't mind if it work only in English as I can speak the language (sort of ).
Ironically I work for Verizon as a developer offshore and can't get a Droid because there are no operating CDMA networks in Buenos Aires. It is all GSM here.
I have a unlocked unbranded brand new milestone I got couple days ago and it came with 2.0 firmware.So it installed no problems but compared to my nephews droid 2.1 from verizon his has the live wallpaper like mine does, but on his when you hit the screen of the live wallpaper you see the ripple effect but on my I dont.
Also Mines missing the speecn to text also, I dotn see a microphone icon in the virtual keyboard when in a text field, also when he holds the search button at the bottom a speak now command comes up for you to say something, anyone know why Im missing these?
When I am using Apps, IE. Facebook, Messing, or Browseing the web, I miss incoming calls, the caller (WIFE and others) goes directly to my voice mail, I have checked to see it the check box in the contacts section is check or not (the one that tells the contact to go to VM), and it is UNCHECKED, yet calls still goto VM, the even go to VM after i am done surfen or Texting, is there some way to tell the phone or a check box that i can check to accept all incoming calls no mater what i am doing, i have even called CS to see if CALL FWDing got turned on some how, they told me nope!

I'm in People, then click Menu and the Search feature was right there; has it been moved or removed? 2. I also responded to another post in a different phone forum about the missing Phone "Favorites" sub-feature in 2.1. Anyone know where that is? You can add a contact from your recently called list to your "Favorites" by hard pressing the contact name, but there's no associated Favorites app to go along with it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat has happened to my Lock Screen. Only yesterday I had to upgrade to 4.3 and my Swipe feature on the home screen was working fine. I don't like the pin option, I know there are reasons for it, security etc, but all the threads I have seen say enable multiple widgets or some such thing on lock screen, well after my upgrade it seems it is very different from what others are seeing in their lock screens.
I have tried scrolling left to right on the lock screen - nothing. I have looked through my widgets - nothing. I have attached a screen shot of what my lock screen looks like after the upgrade and I am not even sure how it went from the swipe option to the pin option because I did not intentionally change it knowing I prefer the swipe option.
There is a new update available as of today 12/7/09. It says on eof the new features is reporting a problem with listings etc but I can't figure out how to do this.

For example while using an app,and then some ads starts loading. It actually makes the app run slower and it downloads data, when I don't want to. Is there any way to disable to "Ads by Google"?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have 2 versions it seems of Google Maps. 1 goes straight to he map after tapping the icon, 1 have a blue "Navigation" logo and load bar below it. The latter kept saying "unable to reach your destination" or something like that, so I slid it to trash. I'm trying to find out how to get Google Maps WITH turn-by-turn navigation. Ever since I moved that one icon to trash, I can't seem to get the one that has that blue Navigation load screen.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHere in Canada we don't have unlimited data plans ($25 for 500MB on Telus), so obviously of big importance is how much bandwidth a GPS system like Google Maps actually uses, when it streams it's content.
Right now my option is to stick with Motonav, but I won't be buying it - it's 99EU, PER AREA, *EVERY 2 YEARS!* The funny part about Motonav is their site says the 99Euro is for the 'lifetime of the product' and then further down they define 'lifetime' to be 2 yrs. Haha.
Anyway... has anyone done a test with Google Maps from start to finish on say a 1hr trip and recorded how much data it uses? (maybe use an app like NetSentry which records used 3G and WiFi bandwidth) I'm not sure if Google Maps uses like megs per minute, or just a few kb per minute. I only get 500MB/month on my plan so if anyone knows if this is feasible, for a few trips per month using it...
I just tested out Google Maps with GPS enabled. it correctly displays my blue dot as to where I am, but I've noticed I have to manually scroll the map when I "drive off of it". Obviously, that's not an option while driving.Does anyone know of a setting that will allow my dot/location to remain centered in the screen while the map scrolls?

However, I'm wondering if Google navigation will work without Internet as I don't plan on buying a data plan. If Google navigation does work, can you tell me what features, if any, are lacking because of the loss of Internet. I understand that this cannot answered by a person without a Nexus One, since its not released yet, but does anyone with a Motorola Milestone know the answer?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI finally installing 2.1 with all English menus.that worked in china.However I cant get my contacts and calendar to sync with google.The mail client works fine with no hitches.But I cant add the google account.when I enter in the full server name:

the next button is grayed out.the only way it will let me proceed is if I remove the https:// and then it try to connect.but it then says :" unable to open connection to server"Any help for what is more than likely an extraordinarily simple problem?
I have a UK Motorola Milestone running Android 2.1-update 1.
Yesterday all my contacts and my google accounts, to which they were synchronised, disappeared. Just like that, out of the blue.
I tried to add the google account again, but I keep getting a "can't establish reliable data connection" error. It is not a network access issue because internet and email (imap, not gmail) work fine, plus I tried with two different SIMs and with Wi-Fi, but to no avail.
I read about people deleting some files from their rooted Android and/or hard resetting their phones, but these fixes don't seem to always work and I'd rather try something else first.
I must say that, even though I like Android, I am getting very annoyed at how unreliable and buggy it has proven compared to my iphone and blackberry. Is it too much to ask to have a phone that doesn't reboot every other minute and that doesn't delete your contacts?
so I just convinced my boss that we should switch from our costly Ms exchange solution to google apps, as it can do all the same stuff we need and more. We all have Android phones and I have set up my HTC Desire (Android 2.2 sense UI) to sync with my google apps account, no problem.However my boss have the Motorola Milestone, and his android version just won�t sync with his google account. Every time I try adding a google account with his mail address (name@ourdomain.dk), I just get a �no network connection� error. But I can browse internet and youtube just fine.I have searched the forums, and it seems other people can add their google apps accounts just fine, while some have problems.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Motorola Milestone UK version with AT & T. G Mail and Yahoo etc work fine. Data plan also work perfect wih At&T 2G. AT&T 3 G can not use with Milestone because 3 G band of AT & T is not supoerted by Milestone.
However, real problem is that when I call anybody, he always finds my voice breaks on Milestone. When I switch to speaker they find my voice perfect. I can hear their voice clearly. Any body has same problem.
Secondly, I would like to dowload "Car Home" app which is available with Droid. It is not available in Market place. When I try to see how it is intsalled in my friend's droid, it shows 0 KB. Does this app is part of Android for Verizon. When I dock the phone in Car dock, as I dont have Car home app so phone does not pop up Navigation window which is part of Car Home. I can use Google Map manually. This is not big problem.
Anyone know when will the features introduced in Google I/O about installing apps from the market via the website and etc be released?
View 6 Replies View RelatedHere is something interesting about the Milestone. Enable Airplane mode, put it on the charger over night. Wake up to find your Milestone drained. This happens with my Blackberry Curve as well. Airplane mode drains the battery faster than its being charged. Has anyone else seen this? Or am i just getting lucky twice?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Motorola has begun to behave strangely. I think they lost the battery too quickly, so I have yesterday installed Netcounter and a Task Manager to see what it may be due.
Since yesterday, it downloaded 53 MB of data, including 28 MB today. It's too much, because I have hardly used it for anything but standby. There obviously mail pops up on it, but I read them on my PC. I have not used Google Maps, Web browsing or other things.
WiFi is off, but my battery is at 50% (this morning at 7:30 am, it was at 100% - now 4 hours later it's 50%).
Last night the Milestone was warm on the backside, but not where the battery is placed, but closer to where the sender/radio is placed.
Conclusion: Some programs must be running all the time,
1 hour ago I closed all programs using Task Manager.
But now, all these apps seems to be running (according to task manager):

Why does all my programs start? And which are using the Internet?
I looked at settings -> about phone -> battery usage:
android.process.acore: 71%
Facebook: 6%
display 5%
Android system 5%
Phone idle 4%
Cell standby 3%
Google 3%
Android os 2%
Cell Standby should be >90% since I've not using the phone today.
Any ideas? Should I erase all and restart? Or is it because I have not updated yet (still running the 2.0 version from out of the box)
I am unable to use Gtalk, gmail, Maps, Market, Email (all pre installed) using GPRS/EDGE (Vodafone Live) on my Milestone. But All of these works with Wi-Fi connection. I installed Meeboo Messanger, this is also not working with GPRS/EDGE.
I called Motorola Customer care, they are saying that I have to take a DataPlan from Vodafone and should ask Vodafone to activate all GPRS/EDGE settings on my mobile. So I took a DataPlan (200 Rs. 100 MB), Vodafone People are saying that all available setting are already activated on my cell. But I am still unable to use any of them above. Every time no network connection found error is coming.
When i take a photo in the dark just using the flash with a close up photo of an object. Half sometimes 3/4 of the screen is black, i have a feeling its and app because i sent it back to motorola and the re-flashed the phone, it was working fine until i restored all my apps using "my backup pro" and now i have the same problem as before.I need to find out which app is causing the problem.I also find that the camera doesnt work at full flash capacity because when i press the camera button to focus the testing flash is alot brighter than the flash it uses to take the actual photo.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI just got a milestone yesterday, and I was fascinated by it. The only thing that kills me, is that it doesn't take permission to connect to the internet. I used to have a Nokia, which always had to take my permission first to connect to 3G internet network.
But with the milestone, it doesn't, and I get charged for every single 1kb used I just lost what is equivalent to $10 USD in the last 5 mins for just trying to open Google and download the SlideME app. is there some kind of hidden tasks that uses the internet or something ?
One more thing, today morning, I opened facebook after recharging my credit balance with 20 USD. And guess what ? They're all gone too for just opening the home page! if I have an active internet connection, how can I close it ?
Does anyone know where to get a good pouch style case for the milestone? I've looked through eBay, but they are all generic ones which are either too small or big.

Only problem is that I have set up my work e-mail (which sits on a server and is a POP-3 account I think!...can you tell I'm not technical?!?!) using the in-built client on the phone, trouble is that it keeps crashing and has to do a force close on me pretty much every time. I've looked for this same topic in the forum but cant find anything which answers the issue. Is the next software release likely to fix this bug?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I both got Milestones about a month ago. So far so good; we're trying to keep up with the kids on technology. Anyways, we discovered we're unable to receive texts with pics, but are able to send them to iphones users (who can receive them). I asked about it at the Telus store, thinking it was a setting or something, and she said "smart phones can't receive pics by text, you have to email them". Doesn't really sound right... The choice to send a pic by text is an option in the menus, and it seems from reading the forums here that at least in the US, it's possible with the droid. So is this a Telus issue? No big deal, we're just wondering what's up. Even our daughter with a non-smart phone can send/receive pics by text.

WITHOUT pulling the bat I'm using a case thats a bit of a PITA to remove and when the phone crashes im getting a bit tired of tearing it apart just to get to the battery is there a key command on the keyboard to cut power?
