Aug 27, 2010Been struggling with this since receiving my X. Seems like no matter what player I use the playback is jerky. It's very subtle, almost as if the video is dropping a frame or so every second. I've tried the stock player, Astro, Rockplayer, mPlayer, Zimly, Act, and the list goes on and the problem still persists.
I've encoded (using handbrake) with all of the settings suggested on the boards and have tweaked things on my own trying to find the proper setting, but still no luck. The strange and frustrating thing is that the exact same files play just fine on my 1st gen iPod touch (clearly an inferior piece of hardware) and on my wife's incredible. These encodes are of standard def DVDs at average settings (a full movie is about 1.3gb, all h.264 mp4 files.
I was able to improve playback by rebooting the X and then playing the video, but this doesn't seem like an acceptable solution every time I want to watch something. I tend to encode and watch a lot of stuff on my commute to/from work, and I'd really like to replace my touch with the X, but the media capabilities are falling way short. Considering switching to the Inc as I know it's able to play my media properly, but I'd prefer to keep the X for the larger screen size (though the Inc does seem to feel better when using one-handed). I'm on the fence right now, but if the X can't function as expected then it might be going back. Unfortunately I only have until the 1st to return it so I don't think I can hold out and see if 2.2 fixes this issue.

Dec 14, 2009I know how to prevent screen timeout normally, but is there a way to only prevent it during Music Playback? I'd like to place it on the treadmill and not have to continue to tap the end button to get the screen to light back up and show the song/album art.

Nov 24, 2009In my application users take photos with an Activity that implements SurfaceHolder.Callback. The uri.toString() is then passed as an extra to a subsequent Activity that displays the image. All fine, except for in Android 1.6 the jpgs on the sdcard have a strange noise when looking at them through mac finder or win explorer after mounting the sdcard. The images have purple and yellow stripes on their upper half. Fine on camera gallery.

Jan 22, 2010Love my Eris, except for its music playback. With the SD card that came with it I have about 5gb of music. The music UI is choppy as can be, borderline unplayable at times, the lag is really bad. I've read other posts about faster cards improving performance on the player, but none really elaborating on the music playback.

Mar 28, 2010I keep getting error: device not found when I try to use adb with my phone.
~Windows XP SP2, 32bit
~The SDK is installed and working.
~The USB drivers have been downloaded through the SDK.
~The phone is in USB Debug mode.
~The USB drivers have been installed in windows.
~Windows device manager shows that everything is working fine.
~Windows recognizes the phone when it is plugged in.
The ONLY thing that does not work is that the phone won't show up in the list of devices adb sees. Everything else appears to be setup and working just fine!
HTC Desire :: Ringtones In Music Playback
Jun 24, 2010How can I stop personal ringtones (like custom message tones etc) to stop appearing as a song in my song list, as they are considerably louder than a song and when they come blaring through my car stereo (bluetooth) its rather annoying.I use TuneWiki because the standard player will not accept my car stereo' skip forwards button, it sort of fast forwards, which is a bit crap, but oh well

Jun 13, 2010i was one of the first batch evo owners ( proud owner as of 6.4.10) however over the last few days i have had a few weird errors pop up. The first one was with the FM radio, it simply wont work right for long period of time. I would play the radio and the icon would show up on the notification bar, then the phone would go into idle, however after about 10 mins of idle if i wake the phone to try and change the station or lower the volume, the icon for the FM radio dissapears from the notification bar although the radio is still playing. At this point i am not able to lower the music and upon opening the FM radio app, the playback stops and the app loads but fails to complete stalling at the last 10%.
The 2nd thing is the music player. I have about 160 songs on my evo's 8gb micro SD card. I have also installed the Update sprint/ HTC released on launch day to combact the SD card issues. The 3rd day of me having my evo i was on my way home from work and decided to listen to some music via my headphones. as i was playing the music in the background, an incoming IM from aim sounded over the music and it suddenly stopped. when i checked the music player, it still showed as playing the music although nothing was coming out of the headphones. i tried unplugging them and no go, i tried raising and lowering it but no go, i even tried killing the music player app via an app killer ( advanced settings > Show core Apps) and still it wouldnt work. I was curious so i tried pandoras radio to see if it wss just the Media player and pandoras radio would not play any sound either through the speaker nor the headphones. only after shutting down and restarting the phone did the problem go away.
Today heading home from work, i decided to listen to music once more and the SAME thing happened twice... this time the Evo would finish playing one song and that would be it, the following song would not be heard through the headphones nor the speaker. IT didnt happened back to back after every song but it happened twice within a 45 min train ride to work. the first time it happened after 30 min of starting music playback and the 2nd time it happened right after finished restarting and playing one song.. i tried all the steps i tried the first time and nothing worked. ( except for restarting the phone). even pandoras radio didnt work either. It would finish playing one song and blank..nothing else would come out, although i tried a phone call and i could still hear audio through the headphones. Im not sure whats going on. i hope this is a software issue and not hardware related..
HTC Hero :: Music Skipping On Playback - G2 Touch
Jan 20, 2010I have had my G2 Touch for nearly a month now and I am noticing that when listening to music in the music player there is a lot of skipping and stuttering. It seems to be worse with particular tracks. I also listen to spotify offline playlists which seem to be OK. Initially, I noticed the problem was worse when I had Last.fm scrobbling turned on...but now that and all data hungry apps are off (that I can think of) and still the bad playback. I am wondering if it is specific to my phone - in which case I am probably still able to get T-mobile to exchange it.

Dec 14, 2009Whenever I try and playback music via BT, regardless of music player (I've tried 3) the music playback speeds up, slows down, speeds up, etc., and will NOT play at a consistant speed. All background processes are disabled, etc. I do NOT notice this same thing during video playback (although there is a 40ms delay in audio sync from the video), but it plays at a constant speed.

2. I listen to music perfectly for a while, then pick up my EVO. The song stops, skips to the next track, or starts and stops repeatedly.
3. I uninstall Doubletwist and switch to the Android Music app. Same problems as in (2).
What gives? I can't seem to get stable playback of songs on my SD card. Streaming audio tends to work OK, and isn't plagued by these issues.
Samsung Galaxy S :: Camera Stops Music Playback
Sep 12, 2010Galaxy S on 3 with stock 2.1 ROM. When I'm listening to music on the default music player and activate the camera the music stops. If it paused I wouldn't be so bothered but it actually puts you back to that start of the track. A real pain if you're 45 mins into a podcast. Is this normal Android behaviour or Galaxy S specific? Or worse - specific to me?

My problem is when I start playing music, I notice that there's pop and crack once in awhile eventhough Beats is off/wifi off/air plan mode on... the pop and crack keep on appearing with other music players. I tried with different devices and I'm pretty sure my mp3s are just fine.

You can custom set singe click, double click, triple click, and long click to either pause, skip to the next track, go to the previous track, switch to shuffle, or seek ahead a bit. Also, when using your wired headset in a call, this app allows you to end the call with a long click. I haven't seen any mention of this free app and thought a lot people would like to know.

Jun 5, 2013I have put all of my music on my SD card (all 55Gb of it) but only about 300 of my 4500 songs will actually play!Most of them get a playback error.
I notice it groups all of the songs that don't work in a folder with an unknown artist. I have yet to work out why this does this as most if not all of my music has all the track information in it.
I even went as far to convert all of my songs to mp3 to see if that made a difference. It didn't, it actually made it worse..I cannot have my music collection on my phone I am going to sell my S4 and buy another iPhone.
General :: Playback Control Of Google Music Not Working (GB / CM7.1 / HTC Vision)
Mar 3, 2012I have installed Google Music, which I would like to use to sync/listen to music. My problem is that externally controlling playback (play/pause/skip) does not automatically control Google Music, but the stock Gingerbread Music player.
Of course, from within the Google Music app itself it works, but external control like from the CyanogenMod lock screen widget or from Bluetooth AVRCP commands it always starts playing on the stock player.
It actually works after I launch Google Music once manually. It seems to control the last used/active app automatically, which is good. But when there's nothing running, it defaults to the stock player.
Is there a way to change that? It's annoying especially with Bluetooth AVRCP and A2DP in the car..

Jul 19, 2010Question about video playback. Do you have to convert everything to .3GP ? I drop some movies onto the SD card and play them just fine. Then went back to play them it was REALLY choppy. Not exactly sure what is causing this. I would rather not covert everything to a different codec.

Aug 27, 2010during music (mp3) playback, the application will close part-way through a track for no reason. It might happen on the first or the fourth track, but at some time during playback the music will stop and when I look at the phone there are no apps running. I've been listening to mp3's for a few days now and I've tried using both the standard Music Player and the doubleTwist player but I keep getting the same problem.
I've tried playing music from internal and external SD storages, and I don't have any other apps running at the same time. I wait a minute after the player stops before re-opening the player and playing the same track that stopped from the start and it plays through fine. I found a few posts that discussed music playback problems for the Galaxy S and other phones running 2.1, but they all seemed to relate to actual playback problems (i.e. brief silences or pops and hisses during playback) rather than the player itself stopping.

Aug 8, 2010Okay I've spent a lot of time searching forums, googling, and all that, but as far as I know, there is not a single player that supports gapless playback for mp3 files. I have found an app that can play lossless audio: andLess, but it crashes all the time on my Droid X. I haven't rooted yet, although I plan on doing it after the 2.2 update, but I'll throw away my plans if it means I can actually turn my phone into a competent music player. Is there any app out there that does those two things? I'll even settle for having two separate apps for each, but I don't see how this is so difficult an app to make. When I first got my phone, I was happy that I would no longer have any use for my iPod touch, but this is just saddening.

When played back multiple times, it jerked in the same spot each time. I don't remember if I was running Stagefright or not when I took them, maybe that is a variable.
