my bootupanimation is basically not working. ive put bootanimation.zip inside data/local all different types of bootanimation.zip. its still just showing motorola icon M, then just straight to operating system home screen. where did i mess up, or how can i repair it?

I've been fighting this issue for the majority of the afternoon.My phone was 1-step rooted yesterday (about 4 hours after I got it from Fed Ex), but when I first had issues, I backed everything up with Titanium Backup, unrooted, and did a factory restore.The issue persisted, so I called Verizon, who pushed me over to Motorola. They don't seem to have any idea what the problem is, and unfortunately, no one around here has any in stock, so replacement isn't a viable option at the moment.So, I'm left with a couple questions:
1) Is anyone else having issues with this OTA update
2) While I didn't remove anything out of the ordinary (just what was recommended, things like the NFS, Amazon's MP3, etc.), and it appears everything has been brought back by the factory reset, could the fact it was rooted be stopping this?
3) Is there any way to manually load the update? I'm coming from a Blackberry Bold, where I was quite comfortable running leaked beta ROMs...I don't know of any way to do it any way other than OTA for this though.
So I installed the update.zip without taking any steps to retain root, so of course now that 2.2 is installed I no longer have root. I did a cache wipe and data wipe, then setup RSD Lite to flash the 2.1 SBF onto my phone so I can follow the procedures to keep root while upgraded to 2.2.When I click start on RSD Lite, I am getting a failed flash process error.Does anybody have any suggestions for me? Also, the device properties are showing a lot of N/A in the place of version numbers, IMEI/ESN/MEID, etc.

Fully charged, never registered/activated, new, 8GB card in place, fingerprints wiped off. Ready... you'd think. I press the right hand power button, and see "Airplane Mode is on" and the time. Battery indicates full, time is correct. If I push the MENU button, I feel the buzz and the screen goes black with htc in the middle. Pushing the power button goes DARK, then back to Airplane Mode. All four touch points (Home, menu, back, and search) produce the buzz but do nothing. I haven't found the RESET button, and it's not in the Index. What basic, simple thing have I missed? Unfortunately, there's no 10 year old kid around to show me how to operate this #$!! thing.

Basically, i try to turn on my mobile network and it freezes at "turning on" i hit the back arrow, head back in and it says that the connection failed or "standby for connecting to the mobile network.The only thing different i have done today is install spare parts, and read a few issues people had with sense turning off, and wondered if maybe something within it is bugging my phone, just a thought though.

i had 2.1 rooted and now since having gotten 2.2 i decided i would root that also. however, i seem to be having problems with it.im using unrevoked, and i even downloaded the newest version of it, but it keeps failing to push the image it worked fine with 2.1, had the whole thing done in 10 mins, but this just does not seem to work. im following the instructions to a T.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've taken some animation xml straight from the android docs, and as far as I can see, doesn't work on either my 2.1 update 1 emulator or my 2.1 update 1 Galaxy S device.Specifically, I'm trying to create an animation to pulsate a view (i.e. make it smaller then larger in one animation) What actually happens is it snaps instantly to half of the views size (even though fromX/YScale is at 1.0) and then performs the animation and snaps back afterwards.Can anyone else try this our quickly? If others see this behaviour I'll submit it as a bug. I just can't believe something so basic could be broken!? Also, copying this animation under the "Tween Animation" heading on this page http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/graphics/2d-graphics.html word for word also doesn't animate as per the page says.
View 3 Replies View Relatedsomething weird just started happening. my app has a broadcast receiver which may access the network when invoked. the code has been solid for ages, but in the last few days it has started getting DNS errors on perfectly fine hosts. these are hosts which can be reached without problems in the main app or from other apps.interestingly i've seen another app get DNS errors too another app with a broadcast receiver.seems to affect all OS versions -- we have 1.5, 1.6, and 2.01 here. i don't have a Nexus to test 2.1, though. are there caveats to doing network inside broadcast receivers? i didn't think so, as ours worked fine until the time change [fx: twilight zone theme]

LogCat reports something to the affect of.Now what is funny is that the manifest DOES include the android.permission.INTERNET. Yet for some reason, the Nexus One doesn't see or honor it.

If I check for updates it says there is 1.12.405.2 available, but when I download and install it the software version of the phone doesn't change. This is Android 1.5 SDK. I happen to call several times below code(which is in a method) with
the same url and it fails intermittently. When it fails, there is no exception, the stream is empty so the
readConnection fails, and getResponseCode returns -1. Global caching is disabled, setDefaultUseCaches(false);
I suppose there must be some kind of url connection object pool somewhere.
How can I workaround this?

I've been trying to download the update for my Fascinate, but it keeps failing. I check for updates, and it says new update available. Then I click OK to download. It appears to start, then always stops at 10% and network error pops up. When I go to update status, it says "network error" and "code 409".

I'm running on OS X 10.6.3 If I visit the url in a browser I'm not getting any errors about an untrusted cert.
I'm running Revision 5 of the Android SDK and AVD manager (if that makes a difference) Tried downloading the latest android sdk (revision 6) and running everything from the command line and still no dice. I can only assume there's something either in my java installation or in os x on my machine.
When I first got my Evo, I had no problems setting up the HTC mail client with my work email, using Exchange. Due to random restarts, I had to do a hard reset, and now I keep getting "Failed to create the account. Please try again later." This has been happening for the past few days since I did the hard reset.
When I initially set it up, I just put in my work email and password and had no problems. Now, I've tried every configuration possible in both normal and manual setup. Anyone got any other ideas?
I keep receiving an error message from when it syncs by Google contacts. It fails after about 5 min. Mail and calendar are fine.

Chrome Beta bookmarks sync fine, it's only the builtin browser that is failing to sync. I would use Chrome Beta if I could but it's so damn crash-happy that it's unusable (I assume it's a CM compatibility problem that isn't resolved yet).Here is the relevant log entries from a failed browser sync attempt:

Basically it's just that over and over again. I've tried clearing the data in the browser app settings then resyncing, and I have also confirmed that on my PC my settings are set to encrypt passwords only (as a google search revealed some people had issues when encrypting everything).I'm a heavy user of my device and being unable to access my bookmarks is quite frustrating.
Today at work I went into my people application and sent a contact card too a friend.
When I done this it went to send it through messages rather than through handcent for whatever reason. Either way the friend didn't get the contact card. After this I went into handcent to send a contact and nothing would send. So I tried sending a normal text message and nothing. After half an hour I rebooted phone but still nothing do. I decided to turn phone off and take battery and SIM card out and then turn back on. This still didn't fix it so I went into manage applications and cleared all cache and data from HTC messages application.
Again this didn't work but I am worried what data I may have deleted now? 3 hours later and everything was working ok or seeming too however every now and then I got the message sending failed. I've had full signal throughout this. Also when I now receive a message I am getting 2 messages notifications come up one from handcent the other from HTC messages application? On another note what cache can I clear? I've got astro which allows me too clear thumbnail and internal cache which I do weekly but how can I clear all my application cache at once? and should I clear caches?
I can't seem to get Google Maps to update to 4.50.The update downloads fine, but then just says installation unsuccessful.Anyone got any ideas how to get this app updated?Could it be because the phone is rooted?
