View 4 Repliesthere are forums for android carriers t-mo and sprint but here comes vzw! we need a forum for vzw?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a forum (not a sub-forum) specifically dedicated to the Sprint Hero?
I had a Pre and precentral.net was a great site that tons of people visited.
It seems like this site and Androidcentral.com don't get much traffic.
might as well suggest this now but could we get a sub forum for roms since birdman broke motorola.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust wondering why the forum has deactivated Tapatalk? I use this program quite frequently and wanted to follow AndroidForums on Tapa. Is there any chance that it will ever come back?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having real trouble with scrolling and typing out posts in this forum. It was bad before the addition of froyo and flash but now it is unbearable.

Dev = ne0fhyk from XDA.
From the XDA forum: Link to app page = [APP][ROOT/Keyboard] Keyboard Manager - Dual keyboard: Portrait/landscape switch - xda-developers
Verbage:
Keyboard Manager allows you to customize what keyboard (input method) appear on input based on your phone orientation.
It displays the keyboards you have enabled on your android device, and let you select one per orientation (landscape/portrait).
As your phone switch orientation, the app automatically switch the keyboard.
Requirements:
- Rooted android device (app was tested on Samsung captivate 2.1)
- Root Explorer app, or similar app that allows you to edit the permissions of a file.
To install:
1- Download the app (KeyboardManager.apk) on your device sdcard.
2- Using Root Explorer, move the apk file to /system/app
3- Using Root Explorer, edit the file permissions like below:
-- User: 'Read/Write' checked
--Group: 'Read' checked
--Others: 'Read' checked
4- Exit Root Explorer
The app should be visible in your launcher as 'Keyboard Manager'
Update:
- Added option to disable notification icon
-' start on boot' feature is disabled because it's not yet complete and tested... Sorry for the confusion
Bugs:
-On certain applications (i.e: Messaging on Samsung Captivate), the input window occasionally freeze on orientation switch. Exiting the app, and resuming should fix it.
The app is still in development.
How do I get my phone to open a list of files when posting to a forum and using the 'manage attachment' button?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDont get me wrong, the QWERTY keyboard is sick, and I love it. But after typing on the keyboard for while, I wanted to switch it up, so I tried the on screen key pad. And to my surprise, the on screen keyboard appears to be much quicker than using the QWERTY!

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone else experiencing this? I love the keyboard, but when I type a post here on the forum I have severe lag when pressing keys, sometimes 3 to 4 seconds. only in landscape.
View 18 Replies View RelatedWhy is this phone so slow that you cant even post a message to this forum from it? I tried posting a message to this forum and the keyboard is so slow you can only type like 1 letter per second. Have the same issue with other forums as well. This phone is garbage.
View 48 Replies View RelatedThe right alt key on my keyboard has come off, It was very fragile and seems that the keys are put on with a very weak glue, but nothing much else to hold it in place. Anyone else have loose or missing keyboard keys?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want a good T9 soft keyboard, but am having a hard time finding one. I have BetterKeyboard, but its phonepad keyboard isn't T9. the HTC Touch Keyboard sucks because it doesn't fit the screen correctly. EvenBetter keyboard isn't that great overall. TouchPal is by FAR the best I've used, but version 1.0.0 doesn't have configuration options and landscape doesn't fit screen width. Version 1.1.0 is scaled down to about 3/4 of what it ought to be (portrait and landscape).

View 12 Replies View RelatedSwype on the Droid X with 2.1 originally had a black keyboard with bigger keys to swype or type on. With Froyo, it's now showing as a white keyboard with smaller keys that looks look the Swype keyboard I had originally had on my Droid 1. Is this the "new" keyboard look for Swype on the Droid X or is there a way to bring back the old look before upgrading to Froyo on the Droid X? The version that is showing on the DX now is 1.64.40.9380.
View 12 Replies View RelatedSo I downloaded Handcent and the handcent keyboard in order to have T9 functionality (I like to type fast with one hand), and found the Handcent T9 keyboard to be pure crap.
First, it doesn't even have basic words in it, but mainly the letters only show and the numbers don't, so have to do a seperate thing just to put numbers in. Since it was free I got what I paid for.
So I search the market and found Better Keyboard and then had to also buy its T9 app, called EvenBetter Keyboard and this is much better. Is it worth it to buy to apps (2.99+3.99) just for T9 when there was a half-ass working one in Handcent for free? I don't know, but I am happy with it.
Was wondering if other people used T9 on Handcent and/or EvenBetter keyboard and what are your thoughts.
Please dont let this thread become a QWERTY vs T9 fight. Just asking about T9 and which vendor do you prefer using?
I've recently turned off the vibrating function for my stock keyboard, haptic feedback is still on though. I found it's easier to type when it's off for me, especially when typing long messages. Not that I don't like it, because I do. But when I'm typing something long, it's just really annoying IMO. So I became curious as to what everyone prefers regarding vibrating keys.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't get it. My phone is fast. I mean everything is fast. Screen transitions, page loads, benchmark scores, everything except the HTC keyboard V26 for froyo from XDA. Including calibration tool. I installed from SD and the APKs do not show in system/apps. Why is HTC_IME MOD lag on my fast froyo Droid?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got handcent and I love the messaging...but I am trying to find out how to keep the keyboard on the screen instead of always having to click to bring it up to send a message. I hate having to press the screen after each message I send...is there a way to lock the keyboard on the screen?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use sound when typing.....its now quiet like muted i can barely hear it so it's there but i can't get it loud all of a sudden. Is there a mute or something i can't find?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen the HTC Hero 2.1 was leaked out I immediatly pulled out the new HTC_IME.apk file (the keyboard). I figure that it will be updated for bigger, high res screens since this is whats going to come on hte Bravo/Passion/Dragon. I was sad to find out that the version number was higher than my droid so it would not install. When I peeked into the Manifest file I could see that it is SDK level 6 where Droid is on SDK level 5. At the time I assumed 6 was 2.1. However, Google has already released the 2.0.1 SDK and it is level 6.So, since I haven't gotten my update to 2.0.1 yet maybe someone else wants to see if the HTC_IME.apk will now install? You can either pull the file down from the web, install it with a file manager like Astro, or push it to the phone with "adb install HTC_IME.apk" if you have the SDK installed.
View 45 Replies View RelatedOne thing though I cant get over was the keyboard. Being so off center I found that I could not type as normal becuase my right thumb could not reach to the "yhn" row (middle of the keyboard). I know many have said you get used to it so this is my question. In getting used to it, does that mean you learned to hold the phone differently? Did you type more with your left thumb? In all honesty, I found the keyboard to be bad enough that I questioned weather its worth having it at all. In which case the Nexus might be a better alternative once it comes out on Verizon.
View 26 Replies View RelatedWhat's the symbol above the A key? It looks like an indent arrow. Is it tab? Mine doesn't seem to work. All the other symbols do, so I know I'm hitting the alt key right.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAside from simply preferring a physical keyboard over a virtual keyboard, is there a reason now or possibly in the future to have one? My wife is trying to decide between getting a Droid herself or a Nexus. I know there are good reasons for and against, but this feature seems to be the fork in the road for her right now.
