I have a LG Eve from Rogers that i have unlocked to use on the Bell network, can somebody please explain how to get rid of all the Rogers software that comes pre loaded on this phone?

I tried searching here and over on the xda forums and havent been able to find an answer. i rooted 2.1 and wanna remove all the crap on the phone that isnt needed. clearly i dont wanna start guessing because we all know how well that goes. so can someone share a link with me of programs i can get rid of safely?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently got an unlocket Rogers HTC Magic(upgraded from iphone) and well...I'm LOVING it so far! The problem is that I'm in US and havn't seen the 3g icon. I currently don't have a PDA plan but a Unlimited Media Net plan that I was using with another PDA phone but doesn't work on the Magic. I'm willing to upgrade to a PDA plan but if I can't have 3g...Well I know I can, since Rogers and ATT use the same 3g frequency but the real question is why I havn't seen the icon?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a Rogers HTC Magic and unlocked it for use with my AT&T SIM card. All of that went well, and I can use the phone to make call and can connect for data via WiFi, but cannot get any over-the-air data connection. I have an unlimited media net subscription. I get a 3g connection on my Samsung Eternity at my house, but nothing on the Magic. Any suggestions?

I have not been around in some time, just wanted to know if there is any way to get update onto a Rogers Canada HTC magic. Im using system version 1.5. And i feel like that has to be something better.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMost websites indicated that the Rogers Magic has a 288MB RAM, but when i downloaded many apps that show me the capacity and usage of the RAM they all indicated that the phone's "Available" memory is only 191.5MB.. found another site that sells the same phone (Rogers Magic) with a 192MB RAM in the specs... are there two versions of the phone, or is it something else... the seller is refusing the take the phone back blaming my ignorance of how RAM works... Does the OS and other apps on the phone cut down the available memory?

I've been trying a couple(bigkeys, handcent keyboard) because I heard they may be less laggy. However, I just get the same keyboard as before. I go to settings > locale & text and then select the bigkeys or whatever but it doesn't change anything. Do I need to disable the standard keyboard somehow? I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got unrooted having a dream on rogers and I'm not into waiting for a large company to support my phone when I can do it myself. Now I'm looking for a new phone, just wondering what options are out there.
My only requirement is that it's got to be rootable, or atleast allow me to update my own rom.
So anyone interested in the new lg eve? I've been waiting for rogers to come out with a new android phone for a while, as I'm kind of hesitant to buy an "older" android phone like the magic or dream, and I'm kind of disappointed that they've come out with this lg... While I don't know much about the hardware, I've always had nothing but problems with LG phones.
What do you guys think? Buy the eve? Buy the magic or dream? Wait for something better? I haven't heard anything about new android phones from rogers, and the hero will only be available on telus...
I have a Rogers Magic I have noticed that the battery life isn't too great.. Anyone have any battery life saving tips?. I'm working on playing with the brightness etc to see if that makes a difference but does anyone else have other ideas?

I go to the options for text input and set it to use better keyboard, but when I actually pull up the keyboard is the same old keyboard. I got tired of waiting for an update from 1.5 from rogers and was using the new cyangon Rom using ROM Manager.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Magic from Rogers almost a week ago and so far am loving it. Here are some of the issues or unknowns I found so far:
1. Found out you cant store and run apps from the SD card. That makes the SD card only half useful since it can only be used for music, vids, photos, etc. I hear the new version of Android might fix this.
2. I couldn't find anywhere information about the applications and whether they continue to run in the background after they are closed. Is there a way to close or kill applications? Should I even care if they're closed or not?..................
I need help unrooting the HTC Magic, I have tried many things but I can't seem to make it work. I have a Windows7 computer, I plug my HTC magic into the computer and the program HTCsync syncs the phone. As soon as I launch the RUU utility program, it disconnects the HTCsync and I get an USB error message. I also tried changing the capability mode into WindowsXP or Windows Vista but that didn't work too. I also tried using Virtualbox with WindowsXP but the HTCsync does not sync wit the phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just rooted (minutes ago) and I would like to put a hero rom on my rogers htc magic(32a). I was going to use fatal1ty's rom from here. Rogers Rom Repository (Check Here for the Latest Rogers/32A Ports) - xda-developers is this the best one to use? I'm a little confused about how to do it now. do I need a new radio or anything? In his instructions it says "Rename it in update.zip copy to sd reboot (pressing home+power)
wipe apply update"
shouldn't I go into fastboot and then type "fastboot boot recovery.img" just like I did when I was rooting and then click "apply sdcard: update.zip"? why would this be different? Pressing home+power didn't even seem to do anything different. Perhaps I didn't hold home long enough..
I got a HTC Magic a couple of weeks ago, and I've noticed a few weird behaviour.
1) Contacts Syncing doesn't work after a while. I had it synced when I first got it setup, but now it will give me a sync error...
2) My exchange calendar's attendees goes missing. I see them on the phone, but in outlook, all of the attendees are missing and updates to meetings are NOT reflected in exchanges, and hence will not be reflect on my phone.
Number 2 is the biggest issue. Has anyone else seen this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo since the day I got my Eve (GW620) it's had a tendency to drop 90% of the calls I'm on, usually within the first 2 minutes. I've had all intentions of sending the device back for a replacement, which is why I paid the extra $50 for the warranty, however I've been lazy and it never went back. The device hasn't been used since July, until today. I found out that OpenEtna had got a working 2.2 Froyo ROM for the EVE, so I figured what the hell, let's play with this thing. So anyways I took it out of its box, rooted it, flashed it with the custom 2.2 ROM and was loving it, until I made a phone call and it dropped (after about 10 minutes).
Now for the last 4 hours I've been trying to find an original Rogers ROM to flash back to the device so I can ship it back and get a new one but this seems to be impossible - so to my fellow Eve owners, does anyone have the original Rogers boot.img and system.img for the Eve, or know where I can find it? Or anyone who has not installed a custom ROM, would you be willing to make a backup, factory restore, make another backup (with Original ROM), send me the boot.img and system.img, then reinstall their first back up?I did try tolemac's toleROM which is a 1.5 ROM, but it's custom too, already rooted with none of the Rogers apps.
I've had the Captivate since it came out, and it is now unlocked so it can work on Rogers. I'm not sure how to get the 3g working though...and I've already added the data plan to my bill...

my other devices will connect, but with "Limited or no Connectivity" (Laptop and iPod Touch). I have a data plan and tethering access through my provider (Rogers in Canada). tethering has ceased to function, as stated above, I can enable and my devices can see the network, but they will never acquire internet access after connection, even though I have full signal and the phone itself has internet access

I have a Rogers x10. I have it unlocked on Fido network.I just did sony update service, and it says its already up to date, but i still have 1.6.Someone PLEASE clarify if i need to wait for rogers to get the update? or if i do it through sony update service via usb.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got an HTC Magic on Rogers that I rooted and flashed to CM5 stable about a month ago. Everything runs great, except occasionally (sometimes once a day, sometimes more) the radio seems to go into la-la land. The 3G icon will disappear, but I still show bars.... however there is no connectivity. Once it falls into this state it seems to kill the battery quite quickly. The only way to wake it back up is to reboot the phone or to toggle airplane mode on then back off. When CM6 stable came out a few days ago, I thought I would give that a shot and see if it made any difference... unfortunately it didn't (runs great otherwise though!). I'm currently using radio version 3.22.26.17... is there perhaps another version I can try?
I just got looking thru my Network settings and I had 3 APN's listed (Rogers 1, Rogers 2 and Rogers MMS I think). With Rogers 1 selected, it would register and I would get the 3G icon. With Rogers 2, it wouldn't... so I've deleted the Rogers 2 entry.
I totally bricked my phone as i was trying to flash it to its original state and when i flash the spl (update[1].SHIPMENT-SPL-HBOOT-1.33.0009H-signed.zip ) i took the battery after it rebooted but i guess before it finished as i saw a magic phone on the screen but could't stop on time from removing the battery. Now nothing make my magic to turn on again, not the power button, not the back + power button, not the home + power button and not even the volume down + power button.
i tried removing the battery, connecting the usb and tried all the possible combinations with no success. Is there any way to get into fastboot, as if i get there then i can reflash my previous spl and i am done. Please help me as i paid over 1000 dollars for this phone here in argentina and there is not htc or rogers customers support here. Is there any pandora battery or adb force awake or adb force power on command?
