View 3 RepliesI'm currently running JRummy's Remix - Cyan V0.6 with SPRecovery. I wanna start using ROM Manager, but I can't seem to flash to Clockwork Recovery from inside ROM Manager. Am I doing something wrong? I'm relatively new.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted with the 2.2 unrevoked forever method. I installed the fresh custom ROM and ROM manager, but when I try to use ROM manager, it tells me that I have to have Clockwork Recovery installed.
View 18 Replies View Relatedso to start off let me go into detail with my personal experience with the Rom Manager and ClockworkMod applying Velocity .2: After getting my phone up and running with the new Velocity .2 (Don't forget to tell Trident how awesome he is) I decided to get my girlfriends Ally going with it as well. Her Ally had Drellisdee's 1.2.2 Recovery already installed so I tried to apply the ROM via that, I was halted by a signature verification error. No big deal, I just flashed it with ClockWorkMod on my own Ally so I downloaded the RomManager to go about using the other Recovery.
After installing the ROM Manager I tried to flash the recovery, it requested SU Permissions which I allowed then it force closed. I reopened the program then flashed the recovery again with no errors. I then downloaded the Velocity .2 ROM from the manager and attempted to apply. First thing I noticed is the manager did not give me an option to clear Dalvik Cache. I tried to proceed anyway. When the phone rebooted it got stuck on the LG Logo, scary, very scary. I pulled the battery, held SEND MENU END, and again, got stuck at the LG Logo. Pulled the battery again, powered on normally and it booted up (not to recovery though) so I ended up flashing the ClockWork Recovery manually...........
Drellisdee has a post on here that makes it easy just download his recovery and do this. just do steps 4 5 6 and 7 over again. its that easy, but make sure you at least have a copy of the 1.2.2 in both the root of the SD card and the tools folder. and MAKE SURE YOU RENAME FROM 1.13 to 1.2.2
View 20 Replies View Related1) Instead of using ROM manager/clockwork(?), how can I wipe the cache/dalvik manually? What exactly do I need to do?
2) When I flashed RLS3, I followed the steps in the thread "Rooting for dummies." All went well, except I had to completely set everything back up. Is there a 'magic' button I can push that will restore all my settings after flashing Myn's RLS4?
I'm new to this whole thing but I do have experience flashing other mobile devices in the past. Before I get flamed for this post let me just say that I have been reading possible fixes for this phone for a week straight. I've probably clocked in about 30 hours and I really wanna throw this phone against a wall.So here's the story:I got my Ally a week ago and rooted it using androot and everything went fine. The phone was rooted could install apps using Astro and everything. The problem is that I also wanna overclock this phone because I've read some pretty cool results. So I know I need to load in Velocity (or at least it's the most recommended), so I used ROM manager to install clockwork, tried to boot into the recovery and the phone just stayed stuck on the LG screen.(yes I checked the box to wipe data, cache and make a backup) After doing more research I find out that there is another recovery made by drellisdee and that it is also in rom manager so I try flashing that recovery and the same thing happens I get stuck on the LG screen. (The only way I can get out of this screen is by battery pulling).
After this didn't work I wiped my SD card in hopes of starting over, but when my phone rebooted suddenly now I have no internet access through verizon(still have wifi). So now my so called smart phone has become nothing more than a phone with wifi. I really need some help here, I've genuinely tried fixing it myself but nothing seems to work.I really hope I didn't just ruin my phone. Update: Just tried to make a call with my phone and it forwards me to a verizon wireless thing asking me to put in my credit card to make a collect call. Did I just get banned?
I can't seem to figure out if it's possible to switch back to CWM from drelisdee's amon_ra custom recovery. I assumed it would be as simple as to "flash" recovery from within ROM manager, and it would switch back, but apparently I was wrong since I can't seem to get it to reboot into clockworkmod's recovery interface.
View 3 Replies View RelatedVery simple can we use Koushik's ROM Manager / Clockwork recovery rom to restore past Nandroids created using SPRecovery .0.99.3b? Even if I boot right into the clockwork ROM and perform a restore from the ROM itself like we do with SPRecovery. Or do I have to push SPRecovery back in order to restore my archived ROM's and other dev's ROMs that use SPRecovery.. like Pete, AdamZ, Chevy, etc. I'm sure it's been answered but I also can't be the only one who's unclear.
View 27 Replies View RelatedWhen I select some of the options in Rom Manager, it says I need to install clockwork recovery. I already have clockwork 2.5.0.5 installed.
Does anyone know why it doesn't detect or know about it?
Also, what would happen if I selected to option to install clockwork, even though I already have the latest version flased?
How do I change the phone from clockwork to amon ra on my Ally? I have the latest version of Amon Ra on my PC, what steps to do I take to switch it over, and what are the benefits of doing so?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI went ahead and added an unmodified version of of the LG Ally V8 stock image to my listing in ROM Manager. When downloading, you will be given an option to root it if you so choose.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI figured out how to full flash the LG Ally 740 to cricket but 3 out of every 5 phones I flash do not save the NV settings. When I go to manual programming (##program740 send) then select DATA. The MIP & DUN MIP settings always revert back to the default 0000000000@vzw3g.com settings. I've changed them in LGNPST,CDMA Workshop & QPST but still reverts back to VZW. It's rooted and tried several different ROM's to fix the problem. Could it be the kernel? If anyone can help, please let me know.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm not really sure how to go about using these now to create a backup and recovery for my phone in case anything ever happens. I have downloaded Droid X bootstrap and ROM Manager so far not really sure where to download Clockwork (if this is even a different app than what I have).Does a tutorial on how to use these things exist anywhere? I did a search on this forum, but it seems like everything is for moderately experienced users.
I just flashed froyo (I9000xxjpm, 2.6.32.9) on my vibrant which is from Bell in Canada. Everything works fine but when I try to reboot into the recovery using Rom Manager, it reboots and tries to install an update.zip file and then it fails with a message of "signature verification failed". I can't install any other update.zip file either. I'd like to have the clockwork recovery back.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently use Lithium Mod as my Rom. If I want to install a theme that is also a full Rom, would the process be the same for Rom Manager as Clockwork?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was running a custom 2.2 rom with clockwork recovery installed via Rom Manager.
Anyways, I started having a few problems so I was going to take it to stock and redo everything.
I have the stock 2.1 sbf file and I put it back to my phone using RSD lite.
It installed fine except it changed my PRL number to some weird higher number and now I can't get my phone to activate because it has the roaming triangle and is roaming on US Cellular.
I reinstalled my custom rom and used rom manager to restore the image I had saved before I recovered and all is well except I cannot activate my phone because I can't see a verizon network.
I even went into the programming menu and replaced the SID, MDN and MIN with all the settings in my Droid X but no dice.
I have found a way to write a new PRL but I can't get the HW virtual port app to work. So basically I am stuck.
Those who have not been able to install the JH7 update OTA, here is a flash-able version of it that is the same as OTA. Flash with Clockwork.

Another n00b needing some tips/assistance... I spent hours the other night trying to figure out just how to flash my LG Ally to Cricket, to no avail. I've never flashed anything to anything before, so I'm trying to understand the whole process at the same time. There's a lot of vague info on the forums about doing this on the Ally, but nothing clear, yet. I rooted my phone (thanks to amoamare's AllyRR) and tried using 3 programs to gain access to changing PRLs, etc: CDMA Workshop, LGNPST, and QPST. None of them could correctly identify my phone (and yes, I had USB debugging on). It seems to me LG has added a layer of protection to prevent using these tools. My guess is that those of you out there who know how to code (I'm not included) can use ADB Shell or something else to modify PRLs, etc. on a rooted phone.
View 2 Replies View Relatedcan you flash this before you actually root your phone so you dont get bricked?and what are the ways to get a REAL brick? because i've tried looking and everyone has gotten either a usb brick or something else where they can just reflash or something.

I found an update on my wife's Ally for ROM Manager and updated it, to find that there is now support for the Ally! I installed it a few days ago after rooting it within minutes of pulling it out of the box. Link below from twitter!

Now yall devs get to deving! I'm sure there are plenty like me who would donate for some sweet ROMs and OC kernels.
The rom list on the rom manager says Trident but it won't open it.. does this mean there is a new rom??
View 10 Replies View Relatednote before attempting any of this that rooting does void your warranty. I also am not reponsible for any damage that is done to your phone but am more than willing to help you solve a problem in IRC. See my signature on how to get on #ally IRC channel. I do not actually use the Clockwork Recovery (i use drellisdees).
Guide to flashing roms on the LG Ally with screenshots. First off. Make sure your phone is rooted. If your phone is not rooted see the following options.
Option 1a: Universal 1 click root. (easy way) Universal Androot Beta
1b: z4root 1 click root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953

phone was back to Velocity .1 as it was before I re flashed! She said she didn't do anything, didn't touch recovery or ROM manager. She said the battery had died so she connected it to the charger, and when she plugged it in it came up with the Yellow ! with the android (as if it was doing a factory reset) but only for a second, then booted her OLD ROM. She didn't hold down any keys or anything and I cannot imagine how this happened. I'm not going to touch it for a while... I think it might be haunted/cursed
View 6 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone using Universal Androot (worked perfectly) and then proceeded to install ROM Manager to flash a custom ROM to my Ally. I used the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery first (sucessfully) then used Backup Current ROM to backup the stock (V8) ROM (sucessfully). I then proceeded to install the Velocity 0.1.1 ROM (sucessfully).
I've searched here a bit, and am unclear as to the process to restore my stock ROM using ROM Manager. I believe it would work as follows?:
Use Manage and Restore Backups. Select backup I made, and then restore.
If I wanted to un-root, I could then just use Universal Androot to un-root the phone (although I havent tried that part yet).
Love the ROM, just curious how to go back if I need to.
Anyone ever try wiping their battery stats using Rom Manager? I read a few post about this on another forum and was wondering if worked? I seem to be having a problem with my Ally - I let it run until it shuts off and when I plug it into my charger, the stat says it has between 3% and 5% still left.
