I've been looking for a solution to an unusual problem, my work schedule repeats every 35 days.
When I used a windows device with outlook I could program in my rotation and make each day recur every 35 days. I could then look at my calendar and see on any given day of the year if I was off, or working nights, or days. The Google/Android calendar only offers recurring appointments up to 30 days, and won't sync with my version of outlook.
Does anyone know if the 12/11 update will include a sync option for all Outlook? Anyone know of a calendar app that will allow appointments to recur 35 days later? Is it possible to trick the Google calendar (or Yahoo, or Excite) to repeat at 35 days?

I have a HTC Hero and have a problem with Calendar. I have recurring events set in Calendar which don't need reminders, but can't find a way to stop the alarm going at 1 am. Is there a way to stop this?

I'm going to ask a SHORTENED version of my question FIRST because, as I was typing out my thorough explanation below, I realized that I had SEEN A SETTING that I believe fixes my problem but I CANNOT REMEMBER where it is or how to get to it!
In short, the problem I am having is that NON-recurring events (one time appointment) that are in the Google Calendar online are NOT SHOWING in the Moment calendar app.
There was a SETTINGS PAGE...not sure if it was in the main OS menu or the Calendar menu...that gave you the option of choosing to show events "BEFORE" a certain date and to show events "AFTER" a certain date. You repeatedly tap the two "before" or "after" options and the dates would move further back in time and further forward in time respectively. NON-recurring events, obviously, continue to show for years prior or in the future but NON-recurring ONE-time events outside of a "range" of a time period do NOT SHOW. Does ANYONE know what the setting I am referring to and how to get back to it?
If NOT, perhaps my more thorough explanation of my problem and what i am trying to accomplish below might help me find the display before this date/after this date setting that I cannot find again!
Though we are new to Android and the gmail sync, I am very comfortable with the sync process and working with Google Calendar online or on the phone and the settings for forcing a sync, choosing which calendars to display, etc.
I did some troubleshooting of the problem and THIS is what I have figured out...WEIRD!!!...here goes:
It appears that the calendar on the Moment is ONLY showing RECURRING EVENTS...birthdays, anniversaries...ANYTHING where the event is set to recur some time in the future.
The non-recurring events...a random party, a random doctor's appointment does NOT show on the Moment Calendar app!
I prefaced my issue with being comfortable and familiar with the Google calendar operation because I am CERTAIN that the events are in the Google Calendar online. If I change the one-time event to a yearly recurring event and force the phone to sync then WHAM BAM the now RECURRING event shows in the Moment calendar app. REMOVE the recurrence and go back to the one-time doctor appointment, sync, and WHOOSH, disappears again!
The other odd thing is that "old" NON-recurring events that have ALREADY PASSED do seem to continue to show on the Moment calendar app for about a month. In other words, stuff back to about a month from today (today 7/20) DOES SHOW even if non-recurring but anything older than a month does NOT show.
Now I can UNDERSTAND why if you had a doctor's appointment on May 20, 2010, that that even should NOT appear on EITHER your Google Calendar online OR your Moment calendar app for May 20, **2011** because that doesn't make sense. HOWEVER, it DOES make sense and IS IMPORTANT to be able to go back to May 2010 and ask, "what day was that appointment with so-and-so company??" and you scroll back in your calendar to see the name of the company or "In February, 2010, did our son or daughter see the doctor?? and you scroll back a few months to see that your son and not your daughter went.
The Google Calendar online does NOT automatically purge older events...they are ALL VISIBLE online back YEARS AND YEARS. Why is the Moment "purging"/not displaying non-recurring events on the phone that are in a range of about 1 month old to about to happen in a month?

I want a separate thread from a service to register a receiver for wifi events. However as I need a context for doing that (and I'm using service one) I'm receiving the intents on the main thread. Is there any possibility to register a receiver for executing in other thread than main?

When entering an appointment in the diary and want it recurring e.g weekly, there doesn't seem to be any option to limit the time, it seems to go on forever. I would like it to finish on either a date or after a number of weeks, like the diary on my Ipod touch, I tried to jump forward to the date when I wanted it to end and delete/edit the ones forward as a strategy but you only get the option to delete the whole series.

I was trying to create my own ContentProvider. I want a recurring notification (say, once a day) so I discovered that I should be able to do this by setting a repeating alarm that my BroadcastReceiver class can pick up. Because it's going to perform some calcs, it immediately starts a service. So far, so good.
My service will need to access some data in the SQLite database in my application. So I made a content provider to provide that functionality. However, after making the content provider and adding the provider to my manifest between the application tags:
CODE:...............
Now my application, when it starts up, immediately fails with a InstantiationException for my ContentProvider. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Or what else I need to be doing right?

I have a class that extends Application. In the class I make a call to AlarmManager and pass in an intent. As scheduled my EventReceiver class, that extends BroadcastReceiver, processes the call in the onReceive method. How would I call the intent again from the onReceive method to schedule another event?

I just bought a new phone and have started using the stock Android calendar. I put in my work schedule as a recurring series...M,W,Th,F at the same time every week. I am taking a Friday off in a few weeks, so I went to delete that event only and there is NO option to delete just that day. My options are "This & future events" or "All events". I also tried Jorte calendar app at the recommendation of a Verizon employee and it is doing the same thing. There has to be a setting or something I am missing. I should not have to re-input all my data every time I take a day off. My old phone gave me the option to delete "This event only".

I really need the ability to edit/delete one event in a recurring series, and i'm close to figuring out how to do it, but i'm not quite there yet. Sometimes editing a recurring event shows "Change only this event", "Change all events in the series" and "Change this and all future events" options, but other times the only options are "Change all events in the series" and "Change this and all future events". Does anyone know what you have to do to get the "Change only this event" option when editing a recurring event?

I have a client who I set up with a goggle calendar. He's a doctor, and uses his recurring appointments almost extensively. Currently, he's using a Blackberry, but because it is a private practice, he doesn't have a BES. Nor does he use EAS. Google's calendar sync with Blackberry is fuzzy at best (recurring appointments for some reason get put in as single appointments, so they EACH have to be manually edited/deleted), although I'm not sure who's at faultnor do I care What I do care about is that I recommend a phone that has seamless recurring event sync with his goggle calendar. I figured any late-model Android phone would work, but I just wanted to make certain before he bought it. Does anyone here have any experience?

Doing some simple android networking. My problem is as stated above, i would like to change the UI from a separate thread.
What i would like to do is add "Client successfully connected" to the EditText i have. The connection to the server is handled by a separate thread, and that is why i would like to do this. Another reason is, i have a different thread always listening for to what the server says, and what ever the server does say i would like to show it in the EditText.
I always get the following error:
Only the original thread that created a view hierarchy can touch its views
Ran into another problem. My code involves socket connections. It works just fine on the emulator. How ever it doesn't work on my phone. It was working a day or two ago, then just magically stopped. LogCat simply says permission denied.

How do I set different folders for my ringtones and mp3's? I put some ringtones as well as mp3's on my phone. When I open up the music player app, it shows my ringtones and mp3's all together. How do I keep them separate? I don't want my ringtones playing in my music app. The same issue applies to my pictures. I have some small pics that I'm using as my caller ID contact pics, I have some camera pics, and then a few wallpaper pics. I"d like to have them separated when I open up the Albums app. How do I do this?

I have an app that has two buttons one for email & one for SMS. Depending on the button pressed I want to email or else SMS a certain text. I have coded the email button and it is working fine. The problem is that the dialog box that pops-up gives an option of e-mail or Messaging the text. I want to separate out the two, so that when the user presses email, only the options of email is there, and when the user presses SMS, only the option of Messaging is there.

I have read all about having separate processes for different Application components, and how to use them.I am curious, what are some appropriate use cases for when an application should actually use separate processes? It seems to me, the main advantage to using separate processes is to make the different portions of your app more easily killable by the OS.

Android music player that has separate EQ for the left and right channels? I am somewhat hearing impaired and the hearing loss is not the same in both ears. I use behind the ear type hearing aids, so lightweight, on the ear headphones don't really put much sound through them. It occurs to me that separate EQ (and volume) would permit adjusting music to each ear as needed.
If there aren't any music apps like this out there, it might be a successful app for a developer. Consider that there are probably several million people like me out there who would love to be able to optimize how they hear music. Even people with 'normal' hearing may not hear the same in both ears and could benefit from this.
