I am using a ListView to display my custom item layout, which may contain some TextViews and an ImageView.
This is the item layout I made (post_item.xml):
CODE:........................
I don't put the ImageView initially in the xml layout, but I will insert it when I need to the FrameLayout programmatically (I also put another views in it when needed). So, there will be some items which has ImageView in it and which don't.
I get the image to fill the ImageView from the Internet (through URL), decode it as Bitmap, and keep it as a Bitmap variable in a class represents the custom item layout (class PostItem).
When the activity shows for the first time it looks fine, but as I scrolled through the items then a problem showed up, the items which shouldn't show any image show the image from the other item which should, although they don't have any ImageView (because I didn't insert it).
I am using SDK 1.6 and the emulator. Haven't tried it in real device because I don't have it.
Here is my code for the Adapter:
CODE:..............
And this is the code to prepare the items:
CODE:.........................
Is this the bug in the emulator or there is some mistake in my code (probably memory problem for the Bitmap)?

Just wondering if its possible to use the built in image viewer to display an image sourced from a database. I'm hoping I can pass the byte[] as an extra to the ACTION_VIEW intent, but can't find any docs on it so far. Alternatively I'll have to roll my own viewer or first write the image out to a file and pass that to the intent.

I am very new to Android (and Java) originally a C# developer.. and am struggling with the concepts and terminology.
I have been through almost all the tutorials and have decided to start on my first test app.The first part of my app is going to involve using the gallery widget (based on the hello gallery tutorial) to display a load of images. (these images will eventually come from the phones camera, but I will cross that bridge later!) My images are currently stored in the drawable folder in my project.As a first step I want to just have the user click on an image and it pops up full screen, just so I know how to get reference to it, but I am struggling. Evetually I want the user to click an image, then a window/activity(?) will open asking them for a bit of text. This will then be store in sqllite against the image. Code...

I want to display an image from a url, for this I defined the ImageView first as,
<ImageView android:id="@+id/imagename" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
then in the activity,
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); ImageView imgV = (ImageView)findViewById(R.id.imagename);
Now how should I supply the url of the image from where it should fetch the image ever time. I have seen the function setImageURI but it is not clear how to give the url.Any clues?

I'm having trouble displaying SOME images on my android app. Just normal display image from certain URL. Some images works, some just doesn't work. For instance try displaying this image from URL:
http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/7379/tronlegacys7i7wsjf.jpg
It doesn't work. Doesn't even work in emulator.Could it be the EXIF info for the image is problematic? Can anyone try to see they are able to display that image on android app, and share the code/method to display that image on screen?

When I started to display an image from the SDCARD in WebView, I got errors like:
" Not allowed to load local resource: file://".
Ive found a solution for this, and you dont even have to care about ContentProviders
Heres an example:
/* Using WebView to display the full-screen image */
WebView full = (WebView)findViewById(R.id.webview);
/* Set up the Zoom controls */
FrameLayout mContentView = (FrameLayout) get Window().
getDecorView().findViewById(android.R.id.content);
final View zoom = this.full.getZoomControls();
mContentView.addView(zoom, ZOOM_PARAMS);
zoom.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);
/* Create a new Html that contains the full-screen image */
String html = new String();
html = ("<html><center><img src=""+fileName+""></html>" );
/* Finally, display the content using WebView */
full.loadDataWithBaseURL("file:///sdcard/data/data/com.youproject.example "utf-8",
""); Hope you found it useful, let me know how it works for you!

I am writing an Android app that includes an ImageView.The image to be included in the view resides on the local app directory of the emulator.The image is not being displayed in the view.The relavent XML and method used to display the image are given below.The image file is a "png" format file and is able to be opened from the local app directory. The path returned by getFilesDir() includes the full path, "/data/data/net.vitalrecord.android/files." This path designation does not exist on the development system but does exists when DDMS File Explorer is used.

I have a png file in my res/drawable-ldpi folder. I'm working in Eclipse with the emulator, but I've tried this on my 2.2.1 Android phone and I get the same behavior. I have an ImageView and I want to set the src programatically, based on a database call. If I just put
Code:
src="@drawable.norusdpyr"
in the Activity's XML file, the file displays fine. BUT, if I put
Code:
String imageresource = "R.drawable." + parsedData[4].toString();
chart.setImageURI(Uri.parse(imageresource));
where parsedData[4].toString() = "nor_usdpyr" I don't see anything. I've also tried
Code:
String imageresource = "android.resource://" + getPackageName() + "/R.drawable." + parsedData[4].toString();
chart.setImageURI(Uri.parse(imageresource));
and
Code:
InputStream is = getClass().getResourceAsStream("/drawable/" + parsedData[4].toString());
chart.setImageDrawable(Drawable.createFromStream(is, ""));
and
Code:
String imageresource = "R.drawable." + parsedData[4].toString();
File file = new File(imageresource);
chart.setImageDrawable(Drawable.createFromPath(file.getAbsolutePath()));
and
Code:
Context context = getApplicationContext();
int ResID = context.getResources().getIdentifier(imageresource, "drawable", "com.KnitCard.project");
chart.setImageResource(ResID);
finally,
Code:
chart.setImageURI(Uri.parse("android.resource://" + getPackageName() + "/R.drawable.nor_usdpyr"));
doesn't work.
None of these work. What am I doing wrong?

I have built a face detection app where I get the frames from onPreviewFrame, do the face detection and then draw a circle on a canvas above my surfaceView. The problem is frames are automatically displayed using the surfaceview thread when Camera.StartPreview() is started. This is obviously necessary for the PreviewCallback to kick in. As the processing, face detection and drawing, is done in a separate thread(I am assuming here), there is a 2 second delay between the frame being displayed and the result of that frame being processed and drawn on the canvas.
What I want to do is stop the camera preview displaying the frames and display them myself after processing. I believe this has three benefits:
The delay with disappear.I can draw straight to the bitmap instead of on a canvas which is useless as you can not undo what you have done.It will keep memory consumption low by not having two threads using the same image.
I've read that it is possible to display frames from the previewCallback, how to stop the frames being displayed automatically?

<ImageView
id=*"@+id/batteryLevelview"*
android:layout_width=*"wrap_content"*
android:layout_height=*"wrap_content"*
android:layout_gravity=*"center"*/>
</FrameLayout>
</LinearLayout>
Here is my code:

I have the url of an image. What i need to do is launch the default image viewer for images using an intent. But it doesn't work. If I do not specify the type of data, the intent launches the browser since the data is a url. It works basically (since you can see the image on the browser) but what I would like is to have the gallery display the image for me.I can also download the image into a Bitmap but I would still not know how to display the Bitmap using the gallery (if that's even possible).I tried saving the bitmap to the cache and then launch the viewer on that file but it doesn't work. Can you spot any mistakes on my code? (The Utilities class is a class i wrote.
