I would like to preemptively get the HTML code of a webpage that is to be loaded in a webView, parse it using regex, and display only the HTML code that I want, while letting the webpage still think it has loaded everything. Is there any way to do that in the WebViewClient.onLoadResource() or similar methods?
EDIT: I tried this:.............................

I am currently working on a new app and this is my first ever app I have attemped to make with the android os. I am using eclipse 3.6 and using android 1.5 version as the base to make the app as compatible as I can with all android phones. I am a newbie to java and I read a few tutorials which helped me get the app up and working but I am using webview using iframes and have the html document hosted online but I would like to have it intergrated into the app itself so that I will not have to worry if a lot of people use the app will not bring down the website.

I don't know where to put the bug report of APIs.
I use WebView to display some pages in my dictionary software. I met some problems with WebView.
1) could not handle the color values When I use the HTML code: <font color="#00FF00"></font> the WebView could not handle this type of tags. But <font color="red"></font> can work well.
This bug exist both in SDK1.0 & SDK1.1
2) Chinese Char: I use UTF-8 as the charset, and if there exist some Chinese chars, then this HTML code could not be displayed in WebView: <html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"></head> <body> <p><font color="red">[-------- 美国 统词典[双解] --------]</font></p> </body> </html>
This bug exists in SDK1.1.

The biggest disappointment is that it doesn't seem to read QR Code. If so, it would at least be a replacement for Barcode Scanner. That way I would use it more regularly as goggles is improved.

I'm working on an Android app with a Java component and a C++ component via JNI. The C++ component is used on other platforms. It would make my life considerably easier if the C++ component could query the existing SQLite database (via the SQLite C API), without having to shell calls out to the Java side.

I am trying to read AndroidManifest file to extract all android permissions in eclipse plugin developnebt but have reached a dead end. It is not able to open file in /Project_root_directory/res/AndroidManifest.xml. I searched and found that it is in encrypted form.
But there should be some way because eclipse shows it in human readable format to the end user. I can't figure how to read it using Java.

I have synced my desire with yahoo mail. The phone doesnt duplicate deletions from yahoo to phone or phone to yahoo so have to delete everything twice (Windows mobile does it.)Also when the phone goes and gets the mail from yahoo it marks them as read on the internet and unread on the phone. WM synched the read status - did not mark the yahoo mail as read when downloaded and the read status was synced from the phone to yahoo or yahoo to the phone depending on which was read first.Presume i need to download someone's app.

Reading values like integers, strings, colors, etc. from resources (xml files) is easy and well defined at http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/resources/available-resourc.... But what about a float value, like 0.1 or 1.4? How can such float value be defined in resource file and accessed from code? Is it possible at all?

I've started to write an app which provides the user with an HTML form via a WebView. As the form is not under my control, the data filled in may be sent as either GET or POST request. My app is required to capture the transported form data, that is, get a hold on what was entered into the form fields. Using an adequate callback from WebViewClient such as onPageLoaded(), it is easy to capture form data from a GET request. However, I cannot find any appropriate method to allow the same for POSTed data, i.e., be able to access the HTTP POST message body containing the form data. Am I missing a relevant callback here or is there simply no way to accomplish the specified goal with the given API (even the latest level 8)?

Is anybody download the PaPi games from market and played it?
I found when I played one of this series of PaPi game and I input my name, then all series PaPi games can read this name.
At beginning, I consider maybe the application saved some data which can be shared by other PaPi games, but when I "Factory data reset" and format the SD card, then I download these games and play them again, it's so crazy that these games can read my name which I inputed before all the same!!
next, I consider maybe the application read the only code of the phone (IMEI) to identify the phone, but I check the install information about all the PaPi games, I can't found any information about "READ PHONE STATE",so I think these applications didn't read the IMEI code. who can tell me how to achieve this function?!

I have heavily edited the original text and instead of the how question I am posting the code that produces the effect I wanted, namely a floating menu on top that stays fixed as I scroll whatever is in the middle with a lower menu at the bottom of the screen. Ain't life sweet - Might even work on the iPhone as well.
Why I posted was like I said in the original question. I'm fiddling with creating the initial lay out for a "mobile" application for the disabled, have tonnes of data, dictionary files, icons for the purpose etc. I want to have the app running as HTML to make it as portable as possible, i.e. make it runnable on Android, Iphone, Maemo... whatever.
I got some hints by looking at the example at http://www.quackit.com/css/codes/css_floating_menu.cfm as well as a lot of trial and error and finally minor edits by a paid freelancer.
Below you can find some crude (to put it mildly) HTML/CSS (cut the CSS part and load a style instead in the HTML's you create for cleaner code) but for now, let's look at the prototype concept.
CODE:...........
You can see the working example on your Android device or in your Android emulator http://globability.org/webapp/aaa.html
Need to get the sound working though - but nearly there :)Links to the different web based version and thoughts behind application can be found on:
The project this application springs from can be found on [url] - Look under prototypes (it is the top one under the heading protypes).
