HTC Magic :: Crashed While Installing Widget
Jun 28, 2009my magic has crashed while installing a widget! I can't do anything anymore. Do I just have to wait until the battery has gone empty, or is there something else i could try?

I've UNinstalled the app through Manage Applications, so the app is no longer on my phone.Yet "INSTALLING" is showing in the Market AND "Uninstall" is NOT working on AppBrain!I've rebooted the phone 3 times since this happened. I have tried quick calendar (which always screws up on me) I have tried Laik (which doesn't even display my entries, or it does for a bit then they disapear) I currently have calwidget installed and it will not show my own entries..it did once for about a min until I went to add more and that was it)Im coming from a blackberry background user and the blackberry today feature was dominant over anything I have yet tried on my magic to display on my home screen, however my magic overall destroys blackberries, I really need a good calendar widget to display my events on my home screen,, kinda important to me since its all mostly work related.

Nov 9, 2010Anyone ever had this happen? Downloaded an update after the 2.1 upgrade and I sync'd my contacts with FB. It then deleted all of my contacts.So I deleted Facebook, re-stored all my contacts and reloaded Facebook. However, now it gets as far as installing and it never stops. It just stays on Installing.However, the FB app works fine on the phone itself.Is this a Market glitch? Is there anyway I can purge it from out of my downloads section?

HTC Magic : Putting Openhome Themes On An HTC MAGIC Rogers
Aug 18, 2009Sadly, the Android Market in Canada does not have any paid apps. I was just wondering is there any way I can put themes onto my phone? I find that it really sucks that I can't use any of the dxtop themes or openhome themes in the market unless I actually have the app itself (which I cannot purchase).

May 15, 2010I was trying out an app, I think it's called Continuous Photo and it completely crashed my phone. I can't turn it on. I plugged it into the wall to see if that would help and it made the sound that one would expect when it's charging and the home, menu, and return buttons all lit up, but not the screen. It's a brand new phone that I've only had for 4 days. Is the problem, that I tried to complete a function using the app, that I didn't have enough memory for? No matter what the reason is, how can I fix it? I'm freaking out here.

May 11, 2009I have developed an application which has tabActivity using SDK 1.0 r2.
1st Tab contains List view. -> the list contains some images
2nd and 3rd contains some webviews.
The app works fine on G1 mobile.
Today I downloaded SDK 1.5 and ran the same app on SDK 1.5.
The app got crashed when I scroll down/up the list items very fast (fling)

I am not understanding the above error log.
Then I experimented some thing like this: I removed the TabActivity, just shown only list activity. Then I scroll down/up the list items. Then there is no crash.

Sep 17, 2010I have a situation here where i have an intent A that calls intent B. In Android 2.x, the application B consistently crashes the dawvik virtual machine when it runs the second time. Then, if A calls B again, it works.
Is there a way to let A find out that the vm has crashed? This way, i could just redo intent B.
General :: Messaging Crashed After Importing From IOS?
Nov 28, 2012I tried to import my messages from IOS to Android 4.2 using isms2droid and SMS Backup & Restore. Now, I can see all the people that I sent a message to, but as soon as I try to go into the conversation, Messaging crashes and all the conversations are gone, I can still use the phone just not Messaging. However, restarting the phone allows me to see the names again, but again as soon as I enter a conversation they disappear. I tried to delete all the messages using SMS Backup & Restore but it just stalls on the "deleting messages" box. Now I can't delete any messages nor send any new ones.

I am trying to upgrade from 1.6.21 to 2.0.26.I have tried unmounting my SD card, clearing the cache for the android market, the download manager and the original youtube app.

Dec 5, 2009new to this site as never had any problems with my magic till today, my 2 year old to my horror threw it against the wall and the battery etc fell out, Fortunatly when i examined it there was no damage screen wasnt cracked or damaged or anything, however since ive turned it back on theres safe mode in transparetn writing at the bottom left of the screen and the touch screen doesnt work and every time i go into a process such as say contacts , i get the 'the process android.process.acore has stopped please try again everything works like i say i can go online but obviously without the use of the touch screen i cant type, nor can i send texts due to the lack of touchscreen so what can i do HELP PLEASE Or do i have to face facts and get in touch with my insurance ?

Just better will I be satisfied with the magic if I make the switch to android or should I wait for a G4 or something? I can't get the hero cause non currently or ever will support my art carrier. HTC Magic :: A Docking / Speaker Thingy For Magic?
Aug 19, 2009I was wondering if anybody docks their Magic (or similar) to one of those thing-a-ma-bobs that holds it between two speakers? They're generally made for iPods but hold other players as well.Because of the wee USB port, I have bought a little adaptor so now I've got 3.5mm jack, but I don't know how well that would dock.
I just want something cheap so I can set it on the kitchen counter whilst making dinner and washing up. I don't even necessarily need it to be at a good angle, so I could just buy a cheapie pair of stereo speakers, but thought something small and compact would be more convenient if I want to move things around to different rooms.I went ahead and bought something verrah verrah cheap off Amazon. I'm not looking for a Carnegie Hall experience, so cheap oughta do the trick. But, would still like to hear about your gadget if you want to talk about it.

Jul 21, 2010We have a Service that continuously collects sensor data on the phone. This service should run "forever", e.g. as long as the user wants, and not be killed by the system. For clarification, this service is not intended for an app to be released in the market to the general public, it is written for a scientific study. So the people running the app are fully aware that their battery will sucked empty faster than usual, this is no problem. Anyways, my problem is that the service gets killed after a while of running. Sometimes after an hour, sometimes only after like 7 oder 10 hours. The Log-Entries when the service gets killed look like this. It just says "no longer want", sometimes without even calling onDestroy(), as far as I can tell.

I often see other services being killed with "no longer want" and then immediately restarted with "Scheduling restart of crashed service". For example here with runkeeper:

The logs show no record of low memory. Testing is done on (several) Nexus One with 2.2 (Froyo FRF91). Is there any way I can achieve this behaviour with my app? Automatic restarting after being killed? Or this this something totally different that just looks similar in logcat?

Sep 14, 2010I have an application and I would like to be able to restart it on the event of an error or a crash/app shutdown. I am familiar with how to register BroadcastReceivers, use alarms, etc.
Is there any signal I could intercept that the app sends out when it shuts down? Or that the OS sends out when any app shuts down?
