Last night i setup my gmail account using the gmail app. I noticed this morning when i was going to text message that every email address i have ever email in gmail is under my contacts on the text message screen. Is there any way to remove them?

Basically each of my contacts have 2-3 each. I have deleted the extras before but they keep coming back. How can i remove my gmail contacts from my phone and just stick with the backup assistant.

I can start using favourite contacts option but i wanted to know if there's a way to chose to not sync the address book from gmail.
I just switched from an iphone 3g to the incredible yesterday. At the Verizon store he transferred my contacts from the iPhone to the Incredible. Now my contacts are displayed as "Phone" contacts but not synced to Gmail. Is there a way to sync my phone contacts to my gmail account?

When I go to messages, it lists a ton of e-mail addresses and duplicate names etc etc. When I go to people, these are not listed.
It seems like it is listing every single e-mail address i have ever e-mailed from my gmail account. How do I get rid of this??
For example: John Jones is not listed in "people". But if I go into messages, and check the contact list, it will show two entries:
"john jones: johnjones@gmail.com"
"john jones: johnjones@yahoo.com"
I was able to remove all of the facebook contacts it automatically added, which was stupid to begin with.
I'm currently trying to back up my contacts for when (if) we ever get root. And for some reason, even after I sync and all that fun stuff, the phone contacts don't update when I go to my GMail account. How in the world do I get them to update there?

So, on my laptop, logged into Gmail (and the new WAY BETTER contacts section), I deleted about 900 contacts from the list. However, they seem to still be on my Dinc where I don't want to see them. Any thoughts on how to make sure the contacts in my Gmail account are the only ones that appear on my phone?

I know there is the option to "link" information on your contacts but I have a huge number that have not linked and it would be a paint to manually go through all of them and do this on a contact by contact basis.

Now I have a crapton of Contacts.. many are just people I have emailed once in my life or some random friend of a friend from facebook. I really don't went them cluttering up my contacts list when I go to make a phone call.
I tried to unsync Contacts in both of these apps, but the contacts didn't go away. Is there some way to delete all of these?
Can anyone tell me how to NOT receive the same email in gmail conversation that comes into my regular gmail? Every time I get an email on gmail the same email also goes into gmail conversation. Is there a way to remove this so I don't have to go into both just to read the same email? I don't really want to have the gmail conversation anyway? I just want to receive my email in gmail. View 9 Replies View Relatedwhy my S4 is deleting all my contacts from it. I have my contacts synced with my gmail contacts and this has been the case for years. I had a Samsung Infuse before this and have never had a problem. I've had the S4 for about 3 weeks now and this hasn't happened until yesterday. And since yesterday it has happened 3x's. At first I thought it was a Trulia app (realestate app) that I was using to try to call some realtors. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence but the first 2 times I was on the app and my contacts disappeared. How I recovered them was through the contacts recovery feature on Gmail. I would be SOL if I were out and needed to call someone on my contacts list immediately and without access to my laptop.

For instance contact #1 has a gmail account I can see the picture that they update on their gmail account and statuses but contact #2 doesn't show anything from there gmail account. Icon by phone numbers saved on phone is a cell phone, rather than the letter "G" which typically represents contacts pulled from Gmail online. I want to link all of my facebook contacts so they show up in my gmail contacts? Otherwise, the contact on my phone from Facebook may be, and in many cases is, missing lots of relevant information. For example, many people don't keep their full address, or their phone number, on Facebook. If this is so, then no phone number or address is stored on my phone for the many friends who got in my contact list via the Facebook Motoblur magic. I can update these manually, via the phone screen-keyboard, but I would like to use the much easier-to-access PC to gmail user interface. But alas, I cannot, as all of these Facebook contacts don't show up on the gmail list at all.

When my girlfriend got her Eris about 4-5 months ago Verizon was kind enough to copy her contacts from her Razor phone to her new Eris. However she now needs to return the phone for service (silent call bug) and she went to G mail to ensure all her contacts was backed up... they are not. It seems the contacts are stored on her phone (Eris) and not in g mail. How can we import all of her contacts from the phone memory into G mail?

I have a Droid 3. My Accounts include my main Gmail acct, a gmail acct I hardly ever use (no contacts issues there), a pop3 account and a Touchdown-Exchange account which I dont need because Im not connected to that Exchange server any longer. Some time ago, since I wasnt on the Exchange server any more, I deleted the Touchdown account. Then I realized some or most of my Google contacts had disappeared from the phone. Thinking that this would delete the same contacts from the Gmail servers when it synced, I immediately restored the Touchdown account, restoring the lost contacts to the phone. Are these 2 issues related?
I am using 2.3.5 android and my contacts are in google contacts. I have also added my facebook account and some contacts are synced between both accounts.I use titanium backup pro for my backups but I cannot restore the linked synced (after some reboots, the stop being synced)
Is there anyway to make and restore a backup if the sync contacts information) using titanium backup pro or other app?
