HTC Incredible :: Put Media On SD Or Internal Does It Matter?
Jun 21, 2010
New to the Droid Inc, moved over from iPhone. I have a 16GB SD card and am getting ready to move photos and music over to my phone. Does it matter if I put it all on the SD card or the internal media? Does the phone operate with one over the other?

Does it matter if i get this phone from a best buy or Verizon direct? Seems easier to get from best buy because the rebate is applied immediately...

I've been using the stock music player to trim songs and then set them as my ringtone, however every time I mount my SD card the ringtone reverts back to stock and I have to reset it. Is there a way/app that can let me trim a song, store the trim on the phone (not SD card) and then use it as a ringtone?

I was wondering if the internal 8gb storage on the Droid X can be used for anything other than apps? I want to be able to use that extra storage for more MP3's, pictures, and videos.

Quick question, what kind of microsd card are you guys getting? Do you need a class 6 or even 10 to take 720 video, run apps off card, etc at a decent speed? Or are the cheap class 2's fine?

Today I tried to download Platform 2.0 via Android SDK and AVD Manager. I chose it in "Available Packages" and started download. After it was finished SDK Manager showed a message "Downloading SDK Platform Android 2.0, API 5, revision 1 SSL peer shut down incorrectly"
Folder "Android-2.0" didn't appear in "platforms" folder.
I use Windows Vista.
Does anybody have any idea what is the matter?

I am tryibng to downgrade my Hboot from 0.93 to 0.8 and am following this guide:[HOWTO] Downgrade Froyo (2.2) to Stock 2.1 (ANY HBOOT | WIN/LINUX/MAC | ROOT) - xda-developers The reason I amn doing this is because with Unrevoked I get a Validation Error Backup CID Is Missing or words to that effect.I understand that downgrading to an earflier Hboot version would make Unrevoked work and I can then root my htc desire. This is where I have a problem:
Checking misc partition
/data/local/mtd0.image: ok
CID retrieved: H3__001
Modifying misc parition image
Flashing misc partition... mtd: not writing bad block at 0x00000000
error writing misc: no space left on device Flash complete If any error ocurred here, press ctrl-c and run this utility again this I assume is talking about the little space i have ont he phone itself and not the sdcard as I have tried 2 sd cards. I did a factory reset, created the gold card and went throguh the process several times. If I let it go and carry on it goes through a few more things before it finally finishes. Then it reboots my htc desire and a white screen with skateboarding androids shows up, from there in the instructions it tells me to push up for flashing if i do that it goes to the nerxt option which is sim lock and I dont think that is what it is meant to be.If I boot into reocvery the phone freezes at a screen pic of the phone with a gtriangle and exclamation mark and so I take the battery out and reboot that way. Please can someone explain where am I going wrong here?
Windows 7 x64
Android 2.1
Hboot 0.93

It seemed after the update, Google Talk will not quit running at all. No matter if I sign out and stop the service. It will be back and running in about 5 minutes and say it has been running since the phone has been awake, like it was never turned off to begin with or the time running would be real low. What apps and other stuff use this service? It seemed before the update, once I killed it, it would NEVER be running.

My DX arrives on Monday. I have about 120 apps queued in APPBRAIN. Does it matter what order things get installed? Launcher Pro is one of the APPS in the list and I am assuming it should be one of the first installed.

I woke up, my phone was at 100% charge. I turned it on to check email/facebook, etc and suddenly noticed that the battery had dropped to 50%. The battery breakdown menu shows that it dropped almost instantly, 82%, my screen which was at the lowest brightness setting. It's a Galaxy S3.

This folder includes screen shots that are used for Internet Browser bookmarks. It also includes screen shots of web pages that I did not choose to bookmark. When I clear cache while in "Internet" in "Manage Applications" it does not remove these jpg files that are not being used for bookmarks. When I clear everything while in Internet app (in settings) it does not remove these jpg files either. It also does not remove them from within the HistoryEraser app. The only way I can remove the jpg files is with Astro or when connected to PC. I have to go through them and erase jpgs that I do not want there.
There were 72 jpg files in that directory and they go all the way back to when I got phone (on 4/29). I have only added 5 bookmarks myself during that time. They do not take up a lot of space but I just don't want them there.

When I go to the storage settings, it says that I have a 1.86gb (2gb) sd card, and only 649MB available on my internal phone storage. Do I have a different version or something? I was told that the Incredible have 8gb of internal phone storage.

The Dinc has a lot of internal memory but what use is it? Most apps do not see media in internal memory. Now with Froyo coming I see some discussions on the ability to install apps to the SD. Why? What are they freeing the space up for? I have a 16GB SD and space isn't really a factor for me. But, isn't internal memory faster than card access? How can I best use that space?

Most apps cannot see this, and I doubt they ever will unless this becomes more commonplace. What do you do with your internal storage? I have my camera set to store there, but I have a slideshow app i use when charging and it only reads the SD card so I move the "keepers" to SD. My mp3's and divx movies are also on SD. So out of 6.6gb internal storage I usually have about 6.5gb free. How do you use yours? And do you feel app developers will ever write apps to access the internal storage?

Available: 3.86GB
I'm just wondering if this is normal. I don't have any music or videos stored internally, only about 30 or so wallpapers. Is the space all from apps? How do I see exactly what is in the internal storage? When I connect to my computer there's nothing in any of the folders except the wallpapers I added.

Where does the music folder belong in internal memory? A while back I moved all music to my SD card, including the folder. Now I'd like to move some music back to internal memory but I forget where the folder should go. Thanks.

My 8GB SD storage card is nearly full while my internal phone storage has over 6 GB available. Is it possible to use the internal storage for music, my biggest storage hog. I'm concerned about running out of space on the SD card for the various backups required for exploring new ROMs.

So, one of the selling points of this phone is the large amount of internal storage. any ROMs out there that actually recognize my large amount of internal storage?? I would rather have 512MB like a droid and get a 16GB card with it honestly. If stock froyo wasn't slow as hell I would just use that but alas, I need my speed.

Have you been putting your music, pics, videos, etc., on your SD, or your Internal 8G? I've been putting most on my 8G Class6 SD. Just felt like the phone would continue to run better if that Internal Memory wasn't loaded up? What do you guys think....opinions....?

No idea why, default is set to disk drive, only shows SD card storage on the computer. What am I doing wrong Ok it actually is connecting to both, but the drive for internal memory is saying please insert a disk into (E). I know they are both from the incredible from looking at the 'safely remove hardware' section of the PC and checking the box to display components.

It has be reported that Apps cannot be saved in the 8gb internal memory but in the 512mb rom. Is that a problem for anybody? Reviews from Infosyncvideos and the androidcommunity stated the problem. I dunno how big apps are but it shouldn't be a big problem.

I know a lot of apps using microsd for storage. I am not talking about the app themself I know they are limited to the storage in ROM I am just talking about data the app reads/write. I was searching why my maps weren't working with the weather channel app and found this thread:
http://androidforums.com/htc-incredible/71829-weather-channel-radar-not-working.html
Also tried to download and use Epicurus and it crashes every time (thinking it stores usage data on your MicroSD. I'm theorizing because I don't have a microsd card in my phone and maybe a lot of apps have trouble using the incredible internal 8GB of memory? Thinking on buying a 8GB MicroSD card just for this.

I just got my Droid Incredible a few days ago and am really enjoying it.However, when I use the USB cable to plug in my phone to sync music/movies from my computer (Windows 7, 64 bit), it only recognizes the 2 gig MicroSD card that came with the phone, but not the 8GB Internal Memory. When I plug in the phone, the phone itself asks me if I want to charge or use disk mode and I have it set to disk mode.I can copy to the 2GB MicroSD card with no problems.Tried rebooting the phone and my computer, have all the latest Windows updates, etc.Any idea why my computer isn't seeing the 8GB internal memory? Is there a driver I need to install for it or some other setting on my phone? Can it only see either the microSD card or the Internal memory at one time, so I have to take out the SD card (that would be lame)?

Are we ever going to be able to utilize this storage with anything other than a file browser or the stock apps? One of the larger selling points to this phone was the fact that it had some internal storage. It is useful, pretty fast and it's right there. I was hoping that HTC would get right on this and have an update out, but I've yet to even hear HTC admit that there is even a problem. I don't remember being told that my internal storage would only be available with the apps that came stock on the phone.
I, currently, have decided to keep my music on the internal storage. It frees up my SD card for storing stuff from apps and the like. I've got a couple short videos on the internal, too. I've got just over 2500 songs which weigh in just under 5 gigs, on my phone. I would love to be able to use TuneWiki or something that was a little better about getting and showing album covers, or even have a choice for a better music player and/or widget. I currently can't do that, because nothing seems to read the internal storage. Do we have any word that this is going to change in the near future. I know that we are all excited about the prospect of FroYo, soon, but what about this existing issue.
