Anybody else having issues with Swype? I just rooted last night and I'm using the Skyraider 2.5.2 ROM and the Kings #3 kernel. I know that Swype was working last night. I went to send a text a little bit ago and I couldn't Swype. The keyboard worked, just no swyping. I changed the input method and then went back to Swype and it has been working fine since. Not a difficult thing to fix, just annoying.

I installed the Flash 10.1 APK on my phone a while ago while running 2.1 and it worked great but now that I updated to 2.2 not one single video on any website will play....any ideas as to why it stopped working? Should i unistall the APK and download Flash again from the market?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago when I booted my phone everything forced closed while the desktop loaded up (phone, gps, settings, etc...) and nothing worked except third party apps (thank god.) Well I rebooted and everything worked fine after that... Fast forward to today and it started happening again except this time no matter what I did nothing would work. I even dropped the phone off with a Sprint service center (my device is a Sprint Hero) and they just ordered me a new phone because nothing they did worked. After I left Sprint I went out to eat and while eating I kept messing with my phone more and more until I admitted defeat and started backing up all my apps with Astro . Welllll apparently somewhere along the way I got this effing awesome idea to uninstall via Astro all the applications I've downloaded in the last week and freaking bam; phone works again. Here's a list of applications I deleted and I've starred the ones.

The starred ones raise more flags as I downloaded them before any of the others but not knowing which did this I figured I'd put all that I uninstalled to fix my phone.
Well I got my Aria yesterday and I have a question. I've tried loading Google Earth onto my phone, but it says its not compatible with my phone. I thought Google Earth worked on any Android phone with 2.1? Am I mistaken? Also, I can't for the life of me figure out how to manually update the Firmware, PRL, etc... like you can on the other Android phones.

Opening Quick office gives me a message: "No files were found on your SD card"
I can see all the files such as pdf, .doc ,excel,etc via file manager and the files are ok as I took them off the phone and they work fine on my laptop.
When I try to open the files on the SD card, the following error message appears:
"android.content activitynotfoundexception: No activity found to Handle intent{act=android.intent.action. VIEW dat=file:///sdcard/downloads/name of my file
All other files on SD are fine (photos/videos). Verizon tech support did a master reset. Same result. Verizon tech left a voice message later saying they would keep trying to reach HTC.
I had my Evo paired with my car's Bluetooth system, and it worked great. All of the sudden, the Evo is showing paired with my car's Bluetooth but not connected. I keep trying to reconnect it but keep getting a failure message.

The resoult was that my touch screen not worked for an hour. After that, and after a full phone reset, i've managed to bring it back to life. But now, when i'm looking at my screen i see on it a small rectangular thing with different collors and i can see some small dot's on it in a pattern. Should I go in service with the phone, or you all have the same rectangular thing.

I was very impressed with it.Since then I have upgraded my firmware to IH7 via NPS. Voice Search disappeared and is no longer available on the Market. I found a thread with links to a voice search & voice dialer apks, however have had no luck once installed, as they display errors when run.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI had some fairly simple code in my app to invoke Edit Contact activity on a known good contact index that worked in Android 1.6 but is broken for me now in Android 2.1 on the Droid. I built a sample activity/app 'EdCon' to show this:

When I run this on my G1 running 1.6 it works as expected i.e. brings up the Edit Contact screen for the known index and then I can hit BACK to return to "Hello World, EdCon". Code...

I had trouble with the free version but I "bought" *cough* the pro version(3.3.6) and it rooted my device on less than 2 minutes.
I had a new phone that the phone company forced me to block by not giving me the correct code for unlock (which I paid the phone company for), and they said sorry and after 5 mths with a new phone in a box (while in another country and not being able to use it), they decided to exchange the phone. They exchanged the phone and wouldnt give me a new one since the original problem wasn't reported before 7 days after purchase, but 9 days pff. The exchange is refurbished or something but is perfectly new looking and works amazingly well.
It connected to like 2-3 networks while I was away in that country getting the phone changed and now I'm back home and it will not connect to my home connection. I have changed every thing around and back and I have verified all settings, WiFi on and off. Hard reset - it will not connect. It says searching and then connection and then disconnected etc. Doesn't even say obtaining IP addy or anything. It doesn't say anything or give errors at all, it just will not connect.
I tried it and it works so far.

Verbage:
Keyboard Manager allows you to customize what keyboard (input method) appear on input based on your phone orientation.
It displays the keyboards you have enabled on your android device, and let you select one per orientation (landscape/portrait).
As your phone switch orientation, the app automatically switch the keyboard.
Requirements:
- Rooted android device (app was tested on Samsung captivate 2.1)
- Root Explorer app, or similar app that allows you to edit the permissions of a file.
To install:
1- Download the app (KeyboardManager.apk) on your device sdcard.
2- Using Root Explorer, move the apk file to /system/app
3- Using Root Explorer, edit the file permissions like below:
-- User: 'Read/Write' checked
--Group: 'Read' checked
--Others: 'Read' checked
4- Exit Root Explorer
The app should be visible in your launcher as 'Keyboard Manager'

- Added option to disable notification icon

Bugs:
-On certain applications (i.e: Messaging on Samsung Captivate), the input window occasionally freeze on orientation switch. Exiting the app, and resuming should fix it.

For those of you that are familiar with better keyboard. I was wondering about an easy way to switch from the t9 keyboard to the regular qwerty keyboard. I was under the impression that swiping left would toggle between the 2 but all that does is bring me to the numbers and symbols keyboard. I've been changing back and forth to the android keyboard because its faster than going into the better keyboard settings.

I am not on verizon now, but I am loving the incredible, and will likely make the jump. I use a nokia now, so Android is all new to me. I went in to verizon last night to play with one and had it in my hands for about an hour playing with it (SO customizable!). 2 things were driving me crazy!
1. I like the number/phone keypad for typing vs the qwerty for one handed texting, I found in settings how to turn that one on, and like the layout, but every time I went to enter text, it was on abc, not xt9 (xt9 is predictive), abc has 3 letters to a key. its easy to hit the abc/xt9 switch button, but annoying. ANYWAY TO FIX THAT?
2. I thought there should be a way to switch keyboards while using a keyboard. Example: I am typing a text one handed using the number pad, and I can't find how to switch to qwerty with out closing the text and going fairly deep into settings. Is there a way to do it faster? Can I make a shortcut to one of the 7 home screens?
1st I just wanted to know if I was the only one who experiences serious lag with the sense keyboard. 2nd Is their a way that I can shorten the length of the hepatic feedback on it

I am really interested in this phone but I am hesitant because it only has the virtual keyboard. I have had the storm and also the lg dare and sold them because I just couldn't get used to not having a physical keyboard. I just wanted to know if anyone else felt that way and got it anyways and how it's working for you.

Does anyone have any advice about the Better Keyboard app when used with the Incredible? I have read in a few places that the letters and numbers are even smaller than the stock 2.1 keyboard when used with the Incredible. I am not happy with the stock keyboard because the fonts on the keys are small and difficult for me to read, the spacing is also cramped.

I went to settings-keyboard & language and checked these keyboards, but when I typed text, only the default HTC touch input keyboard popped out, I did not find any key to switch. I did not find a way to disable the touch input keyboard either.
