View 20 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my radio was when 2.05 was released (1.0 -> 2.05), so I'm not sure if risks are the same given that we now have S-OFF.
Previously (when I upgraded) there were bricks that would occur if the same radio was flashed twice. I cannot remember whether the method of radio upgrading was done via HBOOT or Recovery. If the risk is still there, can I upgrade from 2.05 to 2.15, or should I downgrade to 1.0 then upgrade?
As far as HBOOT goes, I have never upgraded my HBOOT, I'm either running on 0.77 or 0.79, but I want to play around with some of the newer roms. Regardless, is HBOOT 0.92 an official release, or is it a user contributed release?
My phone was updated to 1.5 this week. I have been waiting to update my development environment, until the phone was upgraded. The ide started out smoothly, I even updated my new Colorthon program library and posted the compiled version on the marketplace.
Next I decided to upgrade Radio's Exercise Buddy. Got a signature error. I worked around it by giving it a new namespace, but this is far from ideal, because now my users will have to use a migration tool, to bring their data over. Is there a better way to do this? Also, If I change the namespace, can I still have my paid users get a free upgrade? Also, I know that many developer's have upgraded earlier, but I wanted to wait until I had the updated phone. If this is a common problem, please refer me to the thread to read.
Depends on the size and gauge of the wire of your headphones. Also depends on the position of the wires. FM radio is a little picky, but works fine- depending on the points mentioned. Old & wrong: The FM radio on the Inc must be the weakest radio in a phone, evah! Just tried it today and picks up half the channels my Ngage and N900 pick up well. A lot of channels barely come in, or are static filled. I thought Steely Dan said "FM has no static at all"? Makes the CDMA radio seem not that bad, in comparison I know- at LEAST it has a radio. Must be set to suppa powwa savva mode

View 5 Replies View Relatedside note: i posted this in the moto x forum too. Thought i'd post here since i know alot of you tried to switch out your order for the droid x.Waited since june 4th for my incredible to get here by my promised ship date of 6/25. 6/25 passed and while calling to bitch about the wait, they said i could swap out my order for a droid x. That i could just have them cancel my incredible order and preorder the x. I did it. She said she didn't have a confirmation number for my preorder or anything but that she would text it to me the next day (this was sunday, so the text would've come monday). Well, it never came. So i called verizon last night to confirm my preorder of the x and they said they saw it in the system and all was good.
Just a few minutes ago i got an email saying my droid incredible has finally shipped. WTF?! The incredible was all i could think about for weeks and weeks and it didn't ship. Now that i have another phone in mind, it finally decides to ship? So i call 611 and she tells me i can reject the shipment, BUT...that "the other reps that told me i had a preorder for the x were wrong. I don't. Because nobody can preorder the x from verizon and that i'd have to wait until it's release on july 15th to order it."what the hell is going on? I'm gonna call verizon back a couple more times and see if i get different answers. But really, their inconsistencies are giving me a headache
1. I run an application called "lockpicker" which allows me to bypass the Exchange Lock screen, which made me put in a password every time I would turn my phone off, or every time I would shut off the screen (which was VERY annoying). I have had no problems with my work email, connecting to it, or with the exchange lock screen since installing lockpicker. In fact, its like the lock screen doesnt even exist, which I love. I hear that lockpicker is NOT compatible with Froyo 2.2, which makes me extremely nervous about upgrading, because if I have to put in a code every time my phone goes to sleep, I will like the phone a lot less.
2. Google Listen - I use this program to listen to 5-6 podcasts that I subscribe to and I find that while it does have some bugs, its simple and the easiest way I have found to organize my podcasts and listen to them. I hear that this doesnt work anymore with 2.2 either (although I could be wrong).........
Was thinking about upgrading my stock 2gb card to a 16 or 32 soon. So I have a few questions.
1)Since my Dinc is rooted, will I have to copy anything to the new card after formatting it, or should my phone remain unaffected?
2) I know there is class 2, 4, and 6, with each having faster read/write speeds and being quite a bit more. Will those speeds really make much difference when being used in my phone for backups, random files, apps, and music or videos?
3) Can I copy my sd card files to my phone's internal memory and transfer them that way? Or do I need to transfer them through my computer?
Is a task killer really necessary? I haven't really noticed any benefit in using it. I am beginning to think it's like a Windows registry cleaner -- sounds good in theory, but pretty much useless with the ability to really screw things up, if you don't know what you're doing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know that Android will help merge/link duplicates, but I keep wondering if I should consolidate my contact management in one place. That is your contact management strategy? Centralized? Distributed? Where do you keep your contacts? My gut is telling me to keep them all in MS-Exchange, and delete all contacts in the other places, and just keep them updated in MS-Exchange... At the same time, since Android is a Google based phone, perhaps consolidating in Google/Gmail is the right answer...

The phones great features and the clever way SPRINT introduced EVO to the US market have resulted in tremendous demand for the phone.
The EVO remains sold out at stores throughout the United States. There are long wait lists.
Yet SPRINT keeps advertising EVO with full page ads in major printed media and frequent TV spots.
Is there a business or other benefit of doing so?

What is the benefit of installing Launcher Pro? It is just an app in the market correct? If I install it, it will replace touch wiz right? I have read about what it can do and I like what it does but I am more concerned about what I may lose from the touch wiz features. I guess because I am not really sure what features are exactly touch wiz and what are part of the phone itself. Are there widgets I will lose or apps I will lose? It seems to be the people are overwhelmingly in favor of launcher pro so I am just wondering why.

I'll toggle airplane mode to no avail. Is there a way I can re flash the 2.15 radio? I wouldn't even mind returning to stock before re-rooting if thats what it takes.

View 10 Replies View RelatedThere is a radio station I like, it is on itunes, but also available for stream at their own website. The stream looks for compatibility with Windows media player, or itunes, Winamp, or their own platform which loads on my phone but does not work correctly with no volume.
How I can listen to this station, and what I need to download?
The website is twelvez.com if that helps. There is a link to listing by choosing your format. On the desktop works fine, just wish i could get it on the phone.
I am most interested in changing to a phone w/data pkg - so I can stream am radio when at the gym. (LG Chocolate, two years old - feels like caveman phone now) Would the Inc. be able to do this? - And, would I need to download an app with a player? - or is there one standard with Android?

View 16 Replies View Relatedjust ordered the Incredible and have been checking out the forum. I already feel right at home here. I do have a question regarding the FM radio capabilities of the phone. Here in Utah, the local NPR station has gone through the whole HD radio upgrade and apparently with an HD radio I could listen to three different channels while tuned into 90.1. Can I do that with the Incredible? Are there any apps that would make that possible? I tried searching the forums but didn't find anything.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI've read all the threads I could find in here about turning off the cell radio but none have addressed this particular configuration. The reason I want to do this is because I don't use my Incredible for talking, I just use it as a computer. For talking I use a cheap little "dumb phone" so to conserve battery while i'm out n about all day, i would love to be able to have the cell radio off while 3g is on. If anyone knows of any way/app to achieve this.
