Everytime i connect to the wifi with the htc hero it knocks the internet down in every computer at work.. Why in the world will this happen? I tried both static IP and without it... Same thing... Can the phone be acting a modem?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Hero takes a long time to connect to my home wifi. I usually go in to the settings and hit "Scan" repeatedly before it connects. Sometimes it fails connect, and I have to go into Settings to try again. Is there a way/app to scan automatically or re-attempt to connect again? Maybe there's something I'm not thinking of?

View 10 Replies View RelatedMy HTC Hero can detect my router, but when I try and connect nothing happens. The dialogue box pops up asking for the WEP key, I put it in but nothing happens.
The router and phones wifi works though because I have another pc connected through wifi and I went to mcdonalds and it managed to connect to their hotspot.
Ive tried 64bit wep, 128bit wep, wpa/wpa2, ive also tried it disabled along with the routers firewall disabled but nothing seems to work. My router is a Belkin F5D8636-4
iv just got a replacement hero and i cant get it to connet to my bt home hub, my last one did no problems but when i try with my new one it just comes back as unsuccessful, it does seem to connect to bt openzone tho if that helps.

Also i couldn't get this to work with the stock orange 1.5, but didn't really explore why either. As i was ok with home use. I am traveling away from home more now and would like to connect to a open network. I have asked if i need a password and username but still no joy.. View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my HTC Hero for one week. First day I got it, I walked into a Radio Shack and connected to the open WiFi instantly no problem. I can connect to any secured network (w/ pwd) no problem. However, ever since I put the phone in airplane mode while on a flight, I haven't been able to connect to any open Wifi network. The Hero detects the network and says I'm connected, but I can't get on the internet at all. The phone says it's not in airplane mode but maybe it still is? help please. I'm running android 2.1.

- can not connect to my wifi - my router is a d-link which is visible (with wep2) but when I try to connect the message "obtaining address" persist and then stops everything with no results. I have installed also wifi analyser which is not helping. Any possible solutions?
- how can I uninstall "stocks" and "peep" ?
- should the 3G be on all the time for mms send/receive?

In 3G everything is workin fine so I'm satisfied with android.
I just got a htc hero today. When I first got home with it, I used the wifi to connect to my router. Now it says "unable to start wifi" Have I done something or do I have an issue with my phone?

I downloaded the official 2.1 update from HTC but as I suspected, no Live wallpapers. My Hero is rooted and I have searched for a good live wallpapers ROM but cannot find one. So i was wondering if there is a good ROM that allows me to have Live Wallpapers while still maintaining Sense UI and 2.1. But I want one thats stable and everything works well (VillainROM is perfect but Wi-Fi doesn't work).

The phone didn't have any problems with this before the update.
Anyone had the same kind of problem, or anyone that has a smart fix for it?
Says I am connected to wifi but it doesn't work...anybody else have this problem or know how to fix it?

When mobile network is off and WiFi is enabled, I cannot retrieve my Yahoo Mail. It has never really bothered me, because when mobile network is connected and WiFi is off, my mail app (which is connected to Yahoo - I don't use Gmail) worked perfectly fine. Does anybody else use Yahoo as their email server and has the same issue? Is it just Google sticking it to their customers and to Yahoo by saying "ok, if you wan't to use our (#1 competitor's) email service, then we will make it so it will only work on Mobile Networks.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI went from a stock 1.5 to 2.1 using the Sprint 2.1 RUU and all is well. I understand it's a dev build and as such is already root but when I trying installing android-wifi-tether (both 2.0 and 1.6) it all looks well except when I touch the icon to start and it fails. The 1.6 version did report I didn't have root.
What do I need to do in ADB/shell to ensure the proper permissions are there for AWT? This is the last thing I want to get working and I'm happy.
Do I need to remount the filesystem as rw? Add superuser? Not sure what's needed.

I've installed "ASTRO File Manager" and played with that, but still could not figure it out. I created a network on my mac, but could not connect to it. Set up ad hoc wifi network on my Win7 laptop. Wifi Buddy app sees it, but the native Evo wifi app doesn't. I've seen that the HTC Magic has similar problems.

I can easily connect to the wifi at my work when I type in the password, but when I try the WEP key at my house it still says disconnected. It shows my network and says "Remembered, secured with WEP" if I hit connect nothing happens. I tried "forget" and then connecting again, making sure my wep key is correct, and still no luck.

According to Vodafone this is now the standard HTC firmware with none of their nonsense installed. Now I cannot connect to wifi either at home or work. It can see the wireless networks OK, but gets stuck in a loop trying to connect - it seems to be trying to obtains an IP address, gives up and starts again endlessly. Having searched around the web this seems to be a common 2.2 issue. I've tried many times with forgetting the credentials, etc and have done the full factory reset. Not sure what to do next.

I have a tick next to 'Mobile network' in Settings, and the Network Operator is set to 02, which is auto.
I'm sure it worked the other day when I fiddled, but I might have switched something off by mistake.
When I try to launch the Internet app, I get an error that asks me to sort my mobile web settings, which takes me back to the Settings I have mentioned above.
I've tried windows xp, windows 7, ubuntu, and debian. I've tried samsung new pc studio drivers, and any other set of drivers i could find. I've factory reset the phone but still cannot seem to connect.. can't find any instructions that work online anywhere.

Thought is was bad when we had EDGE but way too expensive with 3G. I use DATA THROTTLE to keep my G1 off the data Network most of the day but I connect 4 or 5 times a day to check email and to play around. With 3G that playing around is averaging $7 usd a day! I live on $10 a day here in Vietnam and that's a big expense to me So I am looking for an Auto-Connect WiFi app that will turn on and connect when I walk by a HotSpot. But I have downloaded about 5 apps so far and although they all work when I use them when I put my phone in my pocket it turns off and will not connect. I go under settings and hit the Never Sleep button but they all go to sleep anyway..What WiFi app will Auto connect when the phone is in my pocket as I walk by different HotSpots?
