HTC Hero :: Bluetooth Headset - Won't Auto Connect
Sep 7, 2009I've connect to my bluetooth headset without a problem, but it won't reconnect automatically. I have to manually go and re-connect everytime.

View 9 RepliesSo I have two hands free sets in my car, one that works very well with music and another one that works very well with calls.
Now would I in any way be able to connect my Xperia S to both, using one of them solely for music (media) and the other solely for taking calls? If so how do I achieve that?
I am looking for a way to initiate the audio connection between the Android phone and my headset within my application. The idea is to simplify the connection process in such a way that the user doesn't have to go through the different settings menus anymore (Apps -> Settings -> Wireless & Networs -> Bluetooth settings).
Both devices are supposed to be already paired and the Bluetooth address of the headset to be known.
As far as I learned, the Bluetooth capabilities (available since version 2.0 of the Android SDK) are restricted to Bluetooth discovery and the connection of RFComm channels (host/client) between the Android phone and a Bluetooth device. Is there another way to request Bluetooth profiles on the Android system to initiate a connection to a known device from an app or is this impossible?
I have a Bluetooth recevier connected to the head unit in my car. It's paired with my Droid and connects just fine manually, but it won't autoconnect when it sees the unit. My BT headset autoconnects, so I'm not really sure what's different.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. I have a ford Mondeo car which has a built in bluetooth. I can connect to the hands free but I have to manualy reconnect everytime I get into the car. I was wondering if there was anyway to get the X10 to connect automatically as all my previous phones used to.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wan't to AUTO connect 2 bluetooth devices in my car.1 device uses phone-audio (parrot) and the otoher ad2p protocol (car-radio)..It only auto-connects 1 device. Somethimes the parrot and the other time my radio. When i connect the other device by hand its connected to 2 devices.
I have an origonal rom on my HTC sensation. I had the same problem with the revolution rom.
I was cleaning all the crap off my phone I don't use anymore and I believe I accidently removed the bluetooth software that allows it to connect to stereo bluetooth headsets. I can control the player with the headset, I can make phone calls from it, but when I try to play music there is no sound.
I was trying to reset the phone using RUU, but it reboots the phone and then says it cannot reconnect after that and the software shuts down. I can still sync with outlook, so my driver is not the issue. I am out of ideas.
Is there anyway possible to reinstall just the bluetooth portion of the rom?
Does anyone find it odd that they cannot listen to voicemails in their paired, attached BT headset or did I miss a memo on how to do this? Also, is anyone having problems with random BT headset disconnects? I have a Plantronics Voyager Pro, which I know works with this handset... randomly it disconnects. No other device disconnects, so I'm thinking the headset is bad... thoughts?

1. How do I stop this message? "Bluetooth Headset Disconnected" I get it very often on my Hero. I have the phone paired with my 2009 Toyota, and leave the Bluetooth turned on on the phone all the time, so I don't have to remember to do that each time I enter or exit the car. I have also paired my phone with my wife's car, but she uses her phone with her car most of the time. Is there a way to stop this message? It has been hours today since I used my car, and I continue to see this message pop up on the phone. It does go away after a few seconds, but it is annoying.
2. When I go to Bluetooth settings, there are 3 devices shown, CAR MULTIMEDIA, CAR M_MEDIA, and HANDS FREE. I think our two cars are called CAR MULTIMEDIA and CAR M_MEDIA, and another one that I once paired with a Garmin GPS called "HANDS FREE". Is there any way to delete that 3rd device? And is this causing the above message?
Can anyone recommend me a Bluetooth headset for my Sprint Hero? I had a couple that worked really well with my Moto Q9c (WinMo 6.1) but don't seem to have all the same functionality with the Hero (controlling calls, etc.).
So I figured I'd look around for a new headset. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Lately, I have had a lot of issues with my bluetooth headphones (won't start on the countless other issues). Out of no where it will stop working; so I go into my bluetooth settings and the headset says it is still connected.... (not the issue)
The issue is when I try disconnecting then re-connecting, the message "Headset is disconnected" appears and will not go away under any circumstance. It stays there when going back to the home page, putting the phone to sleep and back on, everywhere, even when reconnected!
The only way to get the message to go away is powering off the phone. I have repeated this several times with the same results 100% of the time.
Will battery life be affected if you leave Bluetooth turned on and leave the headset off.Just read leaving GPS on doesn't effect the battery if you are not using an app that uses GPS.Thought this might work for Bluetooth also.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a new SE user and am still getting to grips with using the phone's features. Could anyone advise how to transfer a call from a headset back to the phone and phone to headset? Whilst I am asking inane questions, is it possible to use the phone i.e. return to menu when in a call?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bluetooth'd my Hero to my laptop and here's more info on it.
1. The speakers on the laptop serve as a wireless speaker system when you make or receive a call.
2. The speakers also play music from your Hero.
3. Transfer files to and from the Hero
4. Send a fax
5. Tether!
6. PIM sync (hello WinMo users!)
7. Wireless printing
I've performed all of these functions without a hitch. So the Hero looks as if it's a better phone than anticipated... at least for me anyway.
In light of some issues a few of us are experiencing with bluetooth failing to connect correctly and draining our storage space, I was wondering what bluetooth devices always connect with the Hero and which ones fail sometimes? I will start with mine. I have the Jabra SP700 speakerphone. It only connects 80% of the time.

I used to think I was accidentally holding down the redial button on the headset but I tested it this morning by putting both down on the table and it happened. anyone else, or is it just me?
View 14 Replies View RelatedOn the galaxy s. Wondering if there was a way to get the phone to auto answer when and only when the headset that come with the phone are plugged in? i.e. with head set plugged in auto answer
no headset plugged in just act as normal. Hopefully I am just missing something obvious as I can see the option to enable auto answer but this seems to be regardless of weather or not there is a headset plugged in. If this is not possible is there a a way to shortcut the enable and disabling of auto answer rather than having to go through all the menus?
Been looking at some for few weeks now and wanted to see what people suggest for the Desire. Saw a Jabra one for around 25.00, Is there any that won't work with the phone at all?

I would like to know if it is possible on any android phone to use both a bluetooth or a USB headset and still be able to use the built-in microphone. If it is possible, on which versions of Android?

View 5 Replies View RelatedOn my winmo device, I was able to use my laptop as a bluetooth headset. Unfortunately my Desire does not not seem to recognize my laptop as having the functionality.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHaven't seen a recent thread on this lately so I'm curious what Bluetooth headsets you guys use out there? Rate 'em 1-5, link 'em too if you can! I currently use:
-Plantronics Discovery 975 5/5
-Plantronics Discovery 925 4/5
-Aliph Jawbone2 4/5
-Plantronics Voyager 520 3/5
1. Plantronics Discovery 975. I've got 2 of these actually one for my PlayStation 3 and one for my Droid. It's the main Bluetooth headset I use these days. Sound quality is excellent. It sticks in your ear with no hoop, is comfortable to wear for long periods of time. It comes with a little leather case with a battery built in so that you can recharge the headset up to 3x when away from AC power. Has a little LCD panel to show you charge of both devices. (Infinitely easier than deciphering how many blinks equals what battery charge!) Best voice. You may see them on this seasons "24" as it's the headphone of choice at CTU
2. Plantronics Discovery 925. Earlier version of the 975. Great for call quality, battery life etc. Comes with same little case. Design is a little different but it gets the job done. No LCD screen on the case. Mainly used with my work Blackberry. Uses MicroSD charger, so you get an extra for your Droid!
3. Aliph Jawbone2. Much smaller than the original. Very tiny and chic. Great sound quality (it uses a little nub to detect vibration in your jaw to know when to isolate outside noise (using it's patented NoiseAssassin) so you could be on a crowded street and still be pretty clear. Only downsides are the battery life isn't amazing and the proprietary charger plus it only comes with a USB. (Becoming less of an issue these days as I'm starting to acquire a ton of AC USB chargers)
4. Plantronics Discovery 520. My original work Bluetooth headset. Does a decent job but is a little bulky. The ear hook makes it a bit uncomfortable to wear for long periods and not quick to get on. Has a proprietary weird shaped charging port. Battery life was average if that.
So I got a new Evo on friday and it is my first experience with android and I am loving it so far! The only problem I am really having is keeping my bluetooth headset paired with the device.
I have a plantronics explorer 230 and it is the only bluetooth thing I have. It continually disconnects and reconnects from the device at random even when I am on calls. I am not very techy so I really have no idea what to do. It disconnects on its own and then reconnects again a few seconds later.
This seems so basic so many I'm missing something, but is it possible to listen to voicemail via a Bluetooth headset? When I'm driving and want to check voicemail, I don't want to have to put the headset to my ear (and in CA, it's illegal to do so) and when Bluetooth is enabled, the speakerphone option is disabled.
View 7 Replies View RelatedHope someone on the forum can help, as I don't know anything about the possibilities with bluetooth. I need some way of answering the phone while driving. Existing car stereo has external jack input, so I use the Desire as my sat nav / ipod, plugging it into the stereo via two 3.5mm jacks. Thinking of buying a bluetooth headset to let me answer phonecalls. My question is, would this work with the above set up? Or would it try and send the output via the "headphones" jack to the car stereo? Car stereo does not have bluetooth. Just the aux input from the phone (sat nav / music). I don't want the music / sat nav to play into my ear, just phonecalls. I know this is expecting a lot - but is it possible to do?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy phone is having trouble transferring my contacts from the address book to the cars Nav system. Oddly enough, it worked once and never again. For some reason, it is only able to transfer 2 random contacts off of my phone, and stops there. For reference, it worked perfectly with my Blackberry and other non-Android phones. Here is some information:
Phone: HTC Evo 4g
Software version: 1.32.651.6
Car: 2010 BMW 650i (comes with iDrive)
I have tried un-pairing and re-pairing the phone and it hasn't behaved any differently. I noticed the phone recognizes the car as a Bluetooth Headset, which I suspect may be causing a problem. I have also tried changing the phones Bluetooth name. When I look at my Blackberry, it says the BMW supports the following services: Handsfree, Object Push, AVRCP. The Blackberry recognizes the car to be different from a normal headset.
Is their a way to hear new txt notifications over Bluetooth headset.
