I'm new to this forum (great site) and some what new to my evo and i'm wondering about the screen output. My son has an intercept and the movies and sprint tv shows look a whole lot better, why is that and do i need to make some adjustments when watching video or even pictures on my evo help

Is there any way to redirect cell phone output to a standard screen?Would it be possible on Linux & X-server based devices - like Maemo? And on Android devices?

I want to run an activity without ANY screen output. The screen should not blink or anything. How?I have an Appwidget. whenever it gets clicked I want to write something to a DB.So, via 'setOnClickPendingIntent' I start an activity that does that and finishes. But, the screen goes black for a short time, while the activity is running. How can I avoid that? Omitting 'setContentView' does not help, neither does a layout without any views. A service instead of an activity could do that, but I cant start a service by setting a 'setOnClickPendingIntent' (or can I?).
View 13 Replies View RelatedIve been raking my brains trying to figure out how to play 720p movies on my HDTV in 16:9 aspect ratio (or 1.78), whereas it would fill the screen of the HDTV nicely just like Niko does it in this thread Video Demo: HTC Evo playback of HD/720p movies over HDMI out. I have a couple of 720p bluray movie files on my PC that i want to encode but now im not even really sure if they are really 720p. When i upload them into handbrake, it says that the source resolution is 1280x544 and the other one 1280x528 with a 2.35 aspect ratio. Doesnt the second number have to be 720 in order to be considered true 720p HD resolution? Everytime i try and change the 528 to 720 on hanbrake, it doesnt let me. And also handbrake doesnt havent an option where you can change the aspect ratio. When i finish encoding, i get the stupid black bars. i realize the video file might have been shot in a 2.35 aspect ratio or whatever but when i play it in VLC it allows me to change it to 16:9. Basically, I want the video to come out in 1280x720, 16:9, 1.78 resolution and aspect ratio as its default settings. This would be much easier if VLC was playable on Android. At the end of the day, im just trying to find out how to watch 720p video on the HDTV in fullscreen or almost fullscreen (i know theres a couple of inches of black bars in 16:9) just like the guy in the thread above.

I have a Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD Car DVD Player with inputs for Auxiliary, TV, and an AV input (as seen here. I'm wondering if there is anyway for me to use one of these inputs to export the screen from my Droid to it. The dvd player is touchscreen, but I don't presume I'll be able to actually control my DX with it, but it would be nice if I could show the navigation on it since it is a 7 inch screen.I also currently have my phone setup with the Motorola car mount and it records video everytime I dock it.So it would be nice if that display would show up on my radio monitor in addition to being on the phone. Or maybe be able to play movies and video clips from my phone on the monitor.Before I invest in cables and trying to take out my radio and plug anything in back there, does anyone know if this is feasible? I've tried to plug it just straight into the auxiliary jack on the front of my stereo but that didn't do anything.I assume it will need to plug into the AV or TV input connections if it does indeed work.

My application does some cpu intensive churning, writes a bit to the screen and continues. I am using a list adapter for the output. The problem is that the output is not displayed until the activity relinquishes.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm toying with the idea of making a car dock for my Droid. The official Droid dock doesn't work with any cases and if the iPhone is any indication, no one will ever make one that does. Plus, it doesn't do everything I want.
I want to plug my phone in with as little fuss as possible, have it charge, output audio to my car stereo through USB. Charging is absolutely necessary, and I want to avoid using the headphone jack for audio if I can because it's an extra thing I'd have to plug in rather than just sliding the phone right in the dock. Better yet if the USB audio output is a constant volume intended for control on another device.
So.. Is it possible? If I need hack a car charger in to a usb audio cable I'm fine with that (unless I could get both in one). This thing would do it, but it looks like it has more pins than standard usb (can't really tell in that pic, but maybe someone knows?), and the Droid doesn't.
My other options are connecting the Droid directly to the head unit via USB and mounting it as a mass storage device, but I prefer the way the Droid handles music better than the head unit, and mounting the USB is an extra step I'd probably get too lazy for. And finally, I'd considered making an app that spoofs an iPod, since my HU has iPod controls, but that's more work than it's worth when the Android music player's controls are just as good.

LogCat view is much less convenient that Console, because it's hard to see long messages in it (they are trimmed by column border) and there are no clickable highlighting in exception stack traces to quickly navigate to source of error. Just to make clear - I'd like to have clickable stacktraces, like the ones in normal Eclipse console so I can quickly navigate to the source of error.

I want to be able to plug my EVO into the TV and use all the features currently on the phone. Specifically web browsing. If this is not available can we blame it on a hardware limitation or software. Maybe it's something that will work with the Dock when it's released since it comes with an HDMI cable. I can't believe I can't find a straight answer considering Ive seen the question asked on other forums as well. If it works the way I would hope then it's an easy replacement for my jaloppy of a computer.

I watch it on my phone in my car at the lake during my lunch break. I know that probably sounds sad, but it is AWESOME. I'm a manager in the dang corporate world, and I forget that I am at work by the time I'm done with a movie and come on back to the office. It's my dirty little secret. ANYWAY, there are some great shows available on this application, and I was thinking of replacing my Netflix subscription with it if I could just stream it to my TV at home. I haven't bought an HDMI cable yet, because I don't have a use for one just yet. But is anything "streamable" to the tv? I read that only pictures and videos that were shot with the camera stream though the HDMI cable. If that is the case, what is the point? I keep all that stuff on a hard drive anyway. So my question: can I hook up an HDMI cable and stream Jetflicks to my TV? The Jetflicks movies play on the native Internet browser. So I guess a more accurate question would be: Does the native internet browser display on the TV through the HDMI cable? If so, is there audio?

Unluckily it doesn't seem work at all, the caller hear nothing even I set the music volumn to MAX ( of course, the speaker and the mic on Android are far away from each other). I tried the tv out feature on my new Captivate and my friends 5 hour old Captivate via the 3.5 RCA cables on two different plasma tv's. We did not get a clear output like we saw in the youtube video. We get what looks like an old scrambled cable tv signal. I swapped the yellow and red cable as well as the white just in case the video signal was feeding through one of those cables and we still got the scrambled output.
