I have been generating a couple of custom gestures with the gesture builder (in Android Virtual Device Android 4.0) but I have no idea how to retrieve the files and save them into my local HD.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to create an app that will display usage information for customers of Roger's Wireless(Canada). I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on how to:
1) input Username and Password info directly a web textbox to sign the Customer in, from an EditText View.
2) grab usage information in the form of text or images to display to the user within the app.
Just a pointer in the right direction on what method(s) would do this for me.
Anyone have any ideas? I can't imagine Pandora needs to know my co-workers email addresses to determine what songs I like. If there isn't another logical explanation I have to assume they're collecting contact data.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 50 XML files located on a remote server, one formatted for each state. I am able to read each of the 50 files by selecting a state from a spinner and using a SAX parser but I cannot seem to find out how to pull out information from each file by city. I have tried unsuccessfully to pass a city variable to the characters method of the Handler.
Each state has thousands of records and I am looking for a way to speed up the search since reading the entire file for a state takes several minutes. I used SAX since it was supposed to be the fastest way to read but it limits me in selecting specific information. If I understand things correctly I could use a DOM parser to find my state and city specific data but that would make retrieval even slower.
I am working on an android app. Where i need to parse some plist files from assets folder. I do understand how to use assets in android but now problem is that file sizes are more than 1MB and so android gives error Data Exceeds UNCOMPRESS_DATA_MAX (2183588 vs 1048576). how to access such larger files from assets? Also I cant reduce a file into small buffers because i am just sending it to "DocumentBuilder.parse(in)" as a whole so can not use buffer. The error is on line: Document doc = db.parse(in).

For instance id like too know information about how much space each mp3 is taking up and generally what else i have saved on there?? I also have backed up my theme i am using with launcherpro and it says this gets saved to the sd card. I have done this about 10 times as i save it everytime i tweak it but i no longer need the previous saved ones so how can i delete them?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI wrote an app that downloads web sites and all their assets (images/stylesheets) to "disk" and therefore stores lots of small files on the SD card.
Sometimes it fails to delete large amounts of files and afterward the file system is r/o. To analyze that behavior I tried to do the removal of the files by hand and then go from there. But that already failed.

Anybody else seeing this behavior?
There were 6.500 files in that directory. Might that be the problem? I don't access the files with queries, I always have the exact name.
My Sandisc 64GB SD card went kaputt last week, it froze at 33GB, luckily the existing files are all ok and I was able to copy all the files onto my PC, however nothing new can be written to it. I've tried formatting with no success. So I copied the files onto the PC and just got a new this time Samsung 64GB micro SD card. Problem I'm having now is that on several attempts it's failed to copy the files back to my SD card (from PC) I've formatted the card in the Note 3..the music files about 4 GB transferred just fine, the problem seems to be with the Pix and Videos. I'm currently trying to copy the DCIM folder back onto the micro sd and it's saying it'll take 6 hours.
I have tried: copying from PC to micro SD in the phone via USB copying from PC to micro SD in SD card adapter plugged directly into PC
copying from PC to micro SD in USB adapter plugged into PC
all results the same
We continue to build our fairly small applications on Android, iPhone and other mobile operating systems. This is fine and fun in the beginning of a new era, but when mobile OS matures, gets to be the preferred device for business people in motion, they want something more.
One would guess they want the same access and capability to ERP, MRP, BI-solutions and other reporting systems in there phone, right here, right now. How would we as developers deliver these demands, in a secure yet useful way? Is there today support for this kind of applications given they are not today on the web?
I understand the fact most EIS-solutions are web based. Still they are behind company gates, heavily garded by Cheif Information Security Officer (CISO) and his/her staff. Thus they are not accessible through the open unsecure internet but insede companies intranet or internal network. To my knowledge, accessing an EIS using an adress like https://www.thecompany.com/eis-solution/ signing in with username/password isn't done today. In the old days, a VPN-solution was one way to access inside EIS-solutions, but will this be done using a mobile device as well?
I am a Mac user (photographer/ videographer). I also rely heavily on my iPod Touch when mobile (i can often find a wifi signal when i am out and about). I use iCal on the Touch and iCal on my Mac as well as the address book on both everyday and as a Mobile Me user, my two devices sync so everything is mirrored and up to date. I also HATE AT&T for their terrible signal strength and coverage and have been a loyal Verizon customer for many years and this is why I don't have an iPhone. Okay, all that being said, is there an easy way to still use everything I love and rely on with my Mac (the calender and address book, mainly) and easily sync all of my existing information and future info to an Android based device? How easy is it to use an Android device with a Mac? I don't want to have to manually re-enter my entire address book into a new device.

I have a PPTP VPN connection that I use from time to time to access files on my Windows server at work when I am at home on my laptop or on another computer. It works great... I just map the drive in windows and bingo, my files are there.
So, I was excited when I set my VPN connection up on my Samsung Captivate (it is rooted, if it matters). I set everything up, and it connected on the first try. I sat there and looked at the screen and thought, "okay, what do I do now?"
Perhaps I am missing the boat on this whole VPN for Android thing, but is there a way to access the files on a VPN server? I have the ability to map the drives on a PC, but I can not find a spot to do it on the Android.
Is there a program for the Android OS that allows to to access your files and directories, like 'Windows Explorer' does on your desktop pc? I have some audio files that I would like to move to the ringtone directory.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFrom what I've been able to find, Android apps are sandboxed, and can only list, read, and write files within the application's data directory (e.g. /data/data/<pkgname>). but, what about an application that allows users to view photos on an SD card (or play music, etc)? Surely this must be possible. Does one have to write a Service Provider for this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedRandomly, usually a day after I take a photo or shoot a movie, the files in my gallery get broken, and I can't access them. They work just fine directly after I take them, but after some time they are unaccessible. My phone gallery looks like this: Some photos/videos work, others don't. After downloading them to my computer Windows can't read them either. Is anyone familiar with this problem? What can I do? SD card - 32GB, formatted in the phone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find a way to access private files created by other packages.According to the dev site (plz see the following), I can read/write files of other packages if some flags are set on the create of those files, but I don't know how. Can I just open those files with Context.openFileInput(or Context.openFileOutput)? Do I need a different way for those three cases? By three cases, I mean getSharedPreferences(String, int), openFileOutput(String, int), openOrCreateDatabase(String, int, SQLiteDatabase.CursorFactory).

So I just got my Nexus One (like literally a few hours ago) and yay everything is nice (well not everything - for some reason I can't download apps from the market). Anyways, I figure, let's see how this thing is for reading pdfs.
I mounted it as a drive via usb. Created a docs directory, and place a pdf book in it.
Ok...Now how do I open that file?
Again we're talking Nexus One
