HTC EVO 4G :: Controls Used Nesdroid / Snesdroid Games With Phone?
Jun 19, 2010
Trying to figure out how to use these games on my EVO but all the answers I've found explain the controls with an onscreen keyboard or a physical keyboard. How are the controls used with the EVO?

Reviewers seem to think it's the best tilt control of all time on android (maybe any phone? ) and it's 3d.

I am new to android dev, and had a question pop-into my head while looking at the pad control code for the emulator. So my game is controlled with the arrow keys (pad) in the emulator, when I put this onto an android phone, how will it be controlled then? Will I need to code in a "touch d-pad" ?? if so, are ther tutorials on how to code one?

What i'm trying to do is play PC games on my Nexus 4 over WiFi/3G. Which I can successfully do
The hurdle i'm trying to overcome however is getting my PS3 controller (Paired to my Nexus 4) to act as a gamepad on the PC's side.
I can successfully pair the PS3 controller and have it emulate mouse/keyboard inputs which is acceptable for keyboard buttons. But trying to use the right analogue stick as a mouse to look around is hopeless
Is there an app which can send gamepad inputs over the network? That way, I can select 'gamepad' in games and everything should work correctly.

Can anyone give me any input on how practical it is to play games on a phone with no hard buttons? Examples would be the HTC Eris and the potential Bravo/Passion. I kind of don't want the Droid because of the keyboard, the D-Pad seems necessary to play games with...

Like many, I've had a real problem with a loose headphone jack on my Droid. As the jack gets moved (bumped in my pocket, for example) it causes the music player to turn on/off, which is super annoying. To describe it better, if I were to hold onto the headphone end piece where it connects and move it around, I can trigger the music on and off...it must be moving the connector inside somehow. Had the Droid replaced once. New Droid - same issue. New idea --- Is there any way to entirely disable the headphone's ability to control to Droid? My thought is that if I can turn that off altogether, it will no longer be a concern that it's loose.

Does the Droid have individual volume profiles for the different devices (like bluetooth, speaker, headset, headphone jack)? My old phones would 'remember' the volume level for the different devices used. Its very annoying to have one single volume setting. For example, I usually have the speaker phone volume all the way up, then when I answer a call, the earpiece volume is deafening. Same when I plug in my wired headset at home.

I can't seem to find any popular multipayers games. Armageddon Squadron's room is a ghost yards. It seems like polarbit has great games but no one plays them online. Can anyone suggest any other flying, shooting, racing games that people actually play. I am not interested in quest games or Wow types games. I know some games have the capability but no one uses it.

I really do not have the attention span for games but I wish we had the option for those great games that are out for other phones. I know our market is on the fast track right now and have no real complaints vs the Apple Market that you have to pay for almost everything and no return policy in place. But it would be nice to have these games available to us. Like Need for speed and Tom Clansy H.A.W.K things like that? I know we can get it on a web site which is better than nothing but why are these not going threw the Market?

Seriously, emulation is not good for performance, but most roms running on gensoid look and play better that games developed for Android. Sonic 3 looks lovely, runs at 60fps and never stutters. It even seems to look higher rez than most Android apps.Android platformer games are nowhere near as good looking or smooth. So what the hell is going on? The hardware on top end Android phones (Desire, galaxy etc) is clearly capable.

I'm coming from an iphone and I'm kind of disappointed with the Evo's games. The iphone had some pretty good games on it but I'm having trouble finding good ones on the Evo. Please don't write things like "its a smart phone, not a gaming device". Any really fun games out there.

Switching from the iphone to the Evo, i thought the only place to get games or apps was from the market place. Turns out we can get them from a lot of different places. You will need to do the following before installing.
1) select menu then select settings
2) select applications and unchecked Unknown sources.
3) Install a file manager ( Astro is pretty good ) to install the downloaded app.
You can go to gameloft and download games from their siteDoes anyone have any other places to download any good games?

So it's that wonderul time again for me to renew my tmobile service and get a new phone, and i've narrowed it down to the mytouch slide and the samsung vibrant. Now I just want to get some opinions on which you all think would be better for emulation. The issues I see are:
The vibrant doesn't have a physical keyboard which is much more preferrable than touch controls. On the other hand, it has a really large screen which might make touch controls more usable (i've only played emulators on an iphone 3g)
The mytouch DOES have a keyboard, but has a significantly slower processor (on paper), and therefore might not run emulators as well.
What do you guys think? Anyone with emulator experience on either phone? Is the vibrant touch screen good for controls? If not, is the mytouch powerful enough run emulators as well as the vibrant?
Just as a side note, in all other areas I like the vibrant better, so if the mytouch is overall better for emulation, but only by a small margin, i'll go with the vibrant.
