Does anyone else have an issue with the 4G radio turning on automatically. I am having to turn it off every once in a while manually as I noticed that it turns itself on.

I have these two apps(in image below) to lock my screen , for a very long time. But i find a bug in both of them. That when i click them to lock the screen the screen turns back on at delay of around .5 sec.

I have a moto droid 1 and my wifi keeps messing up. When I go into wifi to turn on, it will say "turning on" but then immediately say "turning off." It will continually do this over and over again until finally saying "error." Not really sure why or how to fix this, but it is pretty annoying that I can't use my wifi.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter reading a great post in the forum I setup my HTC Inspire 4G phone to teather...it works great! I followed the same steps on my fiancee's Inspire 4G and it didn't work so well. When I click the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot box in Settings > Wireless & Networks it turns on the Wi-Fi...and it is detectable by other devices...but then it immediately and automatically turns off.
We have the same phone purchased on the same day and I used the same Access Point Name settings as detailed in the excellent Android Forum thread. I even deleted and re-created the Access Point to make sure I didn't mistype anything but the same Portable Wi-Fi turns on then immediately turns off problem exists.
Anyone else have a problem where their phone turns off and on and off abd on... My does it about once a day. I have to pop the battery to stop the cycle.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI hope nobody's already answered this somewhere -- I've been searching for a few days now with no luck. I'm wanting to disable the audio in received mms messages. I absolutely loath those messages that scream, blare music, say offensive stuff, etc. With my old Lotus, you actually had to choose to play the attached audio, but I can't find anything anywhere to set this on my new Evo. If anyone knows how to either make the audio in messages manual instead of automatic, or just disable their audio completely, I'd be eternally grateful to learn this!

What I really want to do is use the Pandora app, but I can't because the music player (no matter which is loaded) wants to start, and no matter how many times I shut it down with app killer, it fires back up again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI finally found how to stop this tool from uploading pics automatically. I was so relieved to find this solution because Picasa was starting to upload pics that I don't even remember taking.
On your phone: go to---->
1) settings
2) accounts and sync
3) click on your gmail account
4) uncheck Sync Picasa Web Albums (and for good measure if you want also uncheck Sync Instant Upload and Sync Google Photos)
5) now hit back and sync all
Now go into your gallery and the folder that says 'Instant Upload' should be gone.
I have the facebook app but how do I stop my phone automatically logging onto the app. I want to sign in and use my password everytime I visit this app?

I have ditched my Galaxy as a phone and gone to Blackberry due to battery issues, and apps on my Samsung draining the battery from full to empty in the space of a few hours, so I am now very careful about what I install. Since removing almost all the apps (and the SIM card) from the galaxy, I now have a battery live measured in days (including watching video) rather than hours just sitting doing nothing...
I understand the use of apps auto-starting themselves to provide notifications, such as Facebook, Twitter & Accuweather, but even though I do use these apps for what they are, I do not need them running all the time to provide a notification: The added "work" in starting the app to check updates is worth the extra battery life I get, as if I leave things alone to be automatically managed, my battery life is divided by 10... and having to flip the phone in and out of flight mode is a pain... (especially when you forget to activate it in the afternoon after charging and at 3 AM in the morning you have no battery left to call a taxi...)
So, what I would like to understand is this: Where does android store the information on autostarting applications? Even if I use a task killer, some apps will restart later on. Android must have some sort of task scheduler to restart registered apps after a certain amount of time has passed or on certain events.
how Android manages this list - and more importantly, how to change it, and also if there is any way to override the registered permissions of an app once it has been installed?
Every day when I arrive home, my SGS3 has connected to some open network near my house. I never want it to do this automatically but can't stop it from happening. This never happens on my wife's I phone 4s...
I've set advanced settings to not notify me when an open network is nearby, but the damned phone keeps connecting to unwanted connections. How to stop that?

1) How do I switch my phone from using EVDo to 1x only? I use an Airave, and it uses more battery since it is always trying to find the best data signal from a tower.
2) How do I stop google voice from loading and running automatically whenever i reboot my phone? If i go to menu>settings>applications>running services, I can force stop it there, but I dont want it ever loading, I don't use google vioce.

I created an activity (extending a list activity) and have it populating with a list of peoples names, however when I scroll up or down it automatically greys out the whole list view until you stop scrolling. I need to shut down the service on background.Except the service restarts itself over and over again! Even if I kill the program from task manager the service restarts itself. Other programs aren't using the service. when I uninstalled the program the foreground program information popped up indicating it was STILL there(albeit this I solved by rebooting phone).
When user says he's finished with the program 'least he can expect is for the program to stay down rather than keep eating battery by acquiring GPS signal and sending them to server. The program is not intended to be "once you log in you need to Uninstall me and reboot phone to get rid of me!" type of program!
I don't know why, but sometimes the music player is turned on. It looks like some kind of stand by feature, maybe I accidentally push a button. What's going on?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed in the last few days that my display turns off after 1 minute when idle, even when actively running Googlemaps with directions, etc. This is overwriting the 10 minutes in settings - very annoying.Am also running PowerManager and TaskPanel, but haven't changed any of the settings for ages, so I can't see if these can be interfering.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a HTC Desire which I've become exceedingly fond of.I've read (and been told by a colleague who owns a HTC Legend) that wifi should automatically turn off while the screen is off to conserve battery. I have the impression that I should be able to see the wifi icon turn on as I turn on the screen and unlock the phone. However, I haven't noticed that happening: The icon seems to just be on always.I have then tried observing my router's DHCP table when the the screen is off, but I haven't observed the entry for my phone disappearing (and I don't really know how much time has to pass before the table not showing my phone.Are there any settings that can cause this behaviour? What about programs? I current use smart monitor to log data usage as well as locale (using a SSID plugin and not the locale "location" condition). The only services I can see apart from those I think are OS services, are the ones for locale, smart monitor lite and the SSID plugin.
