Every time someone emails me at my Gmail account their email address is created as a "Google" contact on my phone. How do I stop this? I looked in the settings of my phone and Gmail account and could not find anything. I'm probably just missing something simple.

I bought an Eris for my son, but he didn't have a GMail account setup so we setup mine, now he has one and we want to switch but I can not figure out how this is done, if you can help I would appreciate it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I made my gmail acct when I first got the Droid Eris I put it in once and never thought about it. Sure I usually use the same basic email address that are about the same if not exactly the same but.. I lost my original phone never sent an email and I cant remember what it was now to put it in my new replacement phone so I can get all my contacts back. I never put in an alternate email so I cant send it that way and I tired everything I can think of. I also called verizon to see if they might have it on file and they said no. Anyway that I can get this withouth knowing the username, having a 2nd email, trying password retrieve and putting in all my usual emails?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI deleted my gmail calendar as I was trying to use outlookt sync. Initially this worked fine, but after a few weeks I can no longer sync my calndar - I've tried everything and I"m done. It seems using my google account is easier. So, having said that, since I deleted the gmail calendar, I went into "manage apps" and cleared everything associated with gmail, including my calendar. I then asked me to set up gmail again, and I did. I hoped this would bring the calndar back, but it didn't. So now I'm left without a gmail calendar to sync with.

Well...she spelled my name wrong and it seems like i cannot delete the default account or switch to my previous existing account.
I wanted to uninstall gmail and reinstall but this app is not available. is this a possible solution?
Any suggestions of what i can do to restart my default gmail account setup associated with my verizon/droid phone?
I had to have a factory reset a couple of weeks ago and did not realize at the time that it made a difference which Gmail account was entered first. I really need to set a different account as the 'primary', but the only option for doing this seems to be another factory reset which will be a real PITA since I just got everything reloaded and the phone is running pretty well. I saw some instructions on another part of this forum which said that you could delete the data from Google Apps, but that is not an option and the other options (e.g., clear cache) are dimmed.

I noticed that the only way to view my school gmail account was through the gmail app, however I can view my personal gmail account with the mail app on my home screen. I have tried to select my ASU gmail account for that app but it doesn't give me an option to show it. Is there any way to add that account to the mail viewer?

My problem is, I am wanting to do something so simple, I want to sync my contacts on my phone to my gmail account so that it's backed up (if anything happens to my phone) But i tried going to settings and it wont let me do it (maybe i am doing it incorrectly). I know I can set up the Eris to poll foor hotmail but I have a question.Will email run smoother if I just forward my hotmail account to my Gmail? And if I set up my gmail through the internet UI to "Reply As" my hotmail account, will it also set that as my reply as when I reply via my Eris?

Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHere is my issue. When I read or delete an email from my phone, it doesn't reflect in gmail when I login. It still shows as unread. Whenever I get new emails on the phone, it will say I have 5, but I only have 1 because I already read the other 4. But I cannot see them and can only view them then from gmail online. Never had this issue live past a *228 and reboot. I have cleared cache, tried reflash. Everything. Even went back to a working NAND and still same issue. I am using Aloysius v11 MAPS.

View 13 Replies View RelatedSo yesterday, my GMail account totally crashed on me. I tried to log on from a computer and it says that my account has been disabled. I've sent e-mails to google and everything and I have yet to get anywhere. I'm extremely furious because my GMail account contains everything. There is no number to reach google at Tech Support or anything like that.
You would think that a company like Google would stand behind their products 110% and would have a tech support center to get issues resolved immediately. Nope, they don't. Only a stupid generated help area on the web that gets you nowhere. This is honestly making me want to get rid of this phone if I cannot get an answer...

View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to add a 2nd gmail account through the gmail app. it goes through the entire process, goes to the sync page and allows me to select what i wish to sync up then gives me a confirmation that the account has been added but when i go to the gmail app and check accounts it still only lists the 1 original account. i've tried powering the phone off and restarting - also added the account via HTC email app and deleted the 2nd account via HTC email app just in case it was conflicting there
