I set my screen to use HOME versus Sense UI. Well, I put the ATM widget on my screen for single click app ends...when I do this, though, it kills home.
Anyway I can exclude Home from this. It doesn't appear to be an option in my Apps list when i open Advanced Task Manager
I have YET to receive a single email from androidforums.com when I use "Instant Email Notification" for thread replies.

Is there any real reason that I should have the full .99 version of advanced task manager as opposed to the free version?
View 11 Replies View RelatedIv'e had nothing but weird problems since day one of my DroidX. I just received a DX hoping it was Hardware issue's (even though I was convinced it was software related). Everyone kept telling me it was because I rooted my droid, but I disagree.
Come to find out it was Advanced Task Killer causing my problems. I had it set to "Auto Kill" and set the level to "Crazy" and set it to "When Screen Turns Off".
It was killing my alarms, Killing Txt, VM, missed call Notifications, and restarting my phone because it was killing an important process....
IDK if anyone has already posted something about this (I didnt see anything) so I figured i'd throw it out there. Im still currently using ATK but the Auto Kill is turned off. Sending New DX back to Verizon.
ok so i click call apps and 2 secs later most of them are back,I just killed these and they are back within 2 secs and i have not even used them for atleast a day how can i kill them until i click to open and automatically close when i come out of any program
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using Task Panel X and Advanced Task manager to kill unneeded tasks and keep memory at a maximum.
Recently, every time I open Task Panel X and then revert back to Home screen I get the HTC logo and then a loading screen while the device sets itself. This happens even if I kill NO tasks.
So my solution was to uninstall Task Panel X and then use just Advanced Task Manager. All the sudden, same result.
Everytime I open either of these apps and then go back to home screen I get a BLACK SCREEN WITH HTC LOGO, THEN A BRIEF (10 SECONDS) LOADING SCREEN. THEN ALL IS NORMAL.
Do you know if ATK uses much cpu/memory and battery when running in background, when using the autokill-feature when going to standby because it than needs to refresh the running app-list always.

View 12 Replies View RelatedAnyway, I just wanted for everyone to post their favorite Task Manager/Killer, and why, and if there are any flaws. I personally use Advanced Task Killer Free. It has a simple UI, and the when you select or unselect apps it remebers it so next time you launch the app you can only remove the apps that you usually do, and keep ones that always run. It doesn't slow down or break the system.

Have had the Advanced Task Manager and I love it, but it seems as though when I end all tasks(which I usually do to save time from individually picking which ones should be ended), it might mess with my network/system processes. I recently did a factory reset because my GPS wasn't tracking my location well. I tried to just power off the phone and see if my GPS could locate me, but it couldn't. When I first got the phone the GPS would pick me up and track me if I was moving just like that. I was afraid the task manager could have messed something up with my network processes. Any ideas?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you use the "End All Background Tasks" button (the widget for this app I believe), it ends the weather functionality on the standard clock/weather widget. The weather does not appear to restart without trashing the clock widget and then replacing it. That basically renders the Kill All Background tasks functionality useless does it not? I'm wondering if it's like this for all background task killing apps as well.

Some of the the apps that start again have not been run by me in days but just show up on the Tasks List. Why would an app come on if I did not run it?

Ok after seeing the somewhat heated threads on here about whether or not to use a task killer to help mange memory and improve performance on the droid Eris I decided to run my own little unscientific test.
So just a bit of background, Ive been in enterprise wide IT for 10 years now. I will say that my O/S knowledge is not exactly current but that may not be a bad thing for this. I will also state that what I report is just my own experience and I have not repeated is several times to validate anything. YMMV!
About four weeks ago my Eris was running like poo. Slow, lag city and getting almost unusable. I had been using Advanced Task killer quite liberally during this time trying to keep the device usable. Short term it seemed to help restore some of the response issues but it didnt take long before I was trying reboots to get the phone working well. Here is a list of apps I had installed at the time.

That quite a few apps but not overboard in my book, and most seem to be pretty stable.
Anyway I decided to wipe the device and start over again, but with the debate raging I decided that I was not going to run any sort of task killer or other memory manager. And that I was going to run for at least four weeks and report the results. I will say I trimmed some of the redundant apps (weather bug replaced all the other weather apps nicely)
I have to say that over all I dont feel like I need a memory manager or task killer. It would be hard to say that the phone is a zippy as it was right after I wiped it, but as of now its no where near as laggy as it was before I wiped it. I feel my battery life is just fine, but I am not one who thinks that battery is an issue anyway. If there is 10% left when my head hits the pillow at night then I am a happy camper.
So this does beg the question what does using a memory manager really do for your experience on the phone? I cant for sure state that using a task killer caused my lag issues before, but it was not helping at the time either. My apps and usage have not changed very much other then not using a task killer and as of now my phone is running pretty darn well.
For me I am pretty firmly in the do-not-need-a-task-killer-camp for now. And before you flame or argue with me I challenge you to try it both ways for a while (with a clean wipe). I am sure that others have had a different experiences and maybe using one works for them.
I know this was talked about before at different times but I still have 3 questions.
1. what is the difference between a task killer and a task manager?
2. should we be using one of these apps or not?
3. when you look at the awake time if it is like 70% or 80% and you aren't using the phone a bunch I take it that means something is running,how can you find what is running.and is the awake time that big of deal?
Can someone explain the diiference in these two apps. It looks to me that the App Killer is included in the Advanced Task Cleaner.

When I charged it and turned it back on this morning I went into task killer to clear out all the apps that turn on automatically and then I hit home. Whenever I did this before, it took me back to the home page, no problem. Now I get a black page with HTC on it and then it resets the home page and I lose my weather. Eventually, it comes back, but why all the sudden am I getting the black HTC screen?

Every time I have it kill my tasks it takes me to the HTC screen (the one that appears during start-up) and then "please wait" appears with my wallpaper in the background. It does still kill the tasks however it has never done this before and it seems abnormal. Ive heard that task managers can be bad for your phone?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using a Task killer without problem since I got the Desire but since yesterday when reading through one of the threads on here and downloading a load of stuff the Task Killer has started behaving badly, I've tried two different Task Killers and they're both doing the same.
When killing some apps the screen seems to restart, like it killed the Sense UI but I've put all the system processes on the ignore list.
Should I get a task manager/killer app? I have read good and bad about these apps. My phone works pretty darn good without one.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI received my galaxy s yesterday after returning my HTC desire and I am more than happy with it so far just one thing that has been ruining my joy is that after installing advance task killer and setting it to auto-end running apps every 2 hours (excluding any apps I though were important) I find that when it auto ends it resets all the apps running meaning my screen will blank out and everything reloads a few seconds later...

(Please no more about if we NEED a task killer) What I like about the killer on astro is that it lets me see how much memory and cpu a task or process is actually using before I kill it. I rarely use a task killer. Only when a task seems to be hanging up. It looks like Astro has the functionality I need, so I will remove Advanced Task Killer.

View 8 Replies View RelatedOne of the best features IMO of Home++ was not having the task bar visible at top of screen. I really liked just having the scrolling toolbar at bottom. Recently the task bar at top has shown back up. Anyone else experiencing this? Was this part of a recent update that I didn't pay attention to until just now?
I still really like Home++, even with that bar, just prefer not to have it.

View 18 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed that the task killer doesn't seem to kill the tasks? I mean it does and it says that it freed up x memory, but when I open ATK again all my programs are shown to be open.
Also, when I open my browser, for example it restores the old page I was on. In the past I used ATK to kill it and when I opened it next time my home page would work. How can I go back to that?
