Hey so i had a chance at my friends house to get some Wifi and get some cool apps and widgets, and of course, the update. When i downloaded the update it asked me to install now or later, of course now, then it showed the reboot screen and later it said i had an error with the signature verification that failed and it just totally terminated the update....? Do i have to root?

It does nothing when i wipe cache or factory reset.when I reboot or turn on my phone it pops the HTC logo followed by another HTC logo and a restart over and over again. In my Recovery Screen there is a message showing E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command.

I'm on 4.2.2 at the moment. The phone is rooted. CWM v6.0.4.4
Every now and then the phone reminds me to install the update. When I attempt, I just get:
E: Invalid command argument
Finding...
Opening...
Verifying...
E: Failed to verify whole-file signature
E: Signature verification failed
Even if I press 'Yes - install untrusted zip', I just get a few messages that I can't read, and then "Installation aborted" and phone restarts.
I did some googling and the only thing I found was something about it being unable due to the phone being rooted. And to manually update with signature verification off, but then it didn't really explain how to go about that.If possible I'd like to get it to work without having to change too much.

E:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (Invalid argument)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
What have I done wrong or do I need to do?

Putting jelly bean on nexus one
My Phone
Nexus One
CM7.2
hboot 0.35-0017
My Problem
Upgrading hboot. I've looked into the other posts. But in none (that i have looked at) they do "fastboot flash hboot". Maybe it's just the same?
I'm just following everything step by step (link)
Code:
$ fastboot flash hboot hboot_jellybean_260-8-168.nb0
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.095s]
writing 'hboot'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 0.219s
My bootloader is already unlocked. Might it have something to do with read/write permissions?

To install to clockwork recovery manually I replaced the recovery.img file but when i restarted my phone it says:
Image signature verify fail
Your boot/recovery image may have an incorrect signature.
Please update your image to a signature official one
you can remove battery for power down.
now i can access only to pink screen, but when i connect my phone with a usb cable then computer only checks drivers etc but does not open a drive where i could change recovery.img back to normal.
Maybe some drivers are missing.. Also made video of it: [URL] ....

Ok, since day one ( 27 days ago ) My Sprint HTC Hero has worked flawlessly with my free Yahoo email acct. I just went to the email widget, typed in my email address and password, and it autoconfigured the imap settings. Worked like a charm. Yesterday it decided to "authentification failed, please verify your username/password"
Well, although my un/pw were right, I changed my pw just to be sure I wasnt being a dumbass, no luck. I googled the problem and heard some people changed to pop3 so I tried those settings, no luck. I even tried changing my preferred location to asia, lol, no luck.
I see this has been a problem for a LOT of people since the beginning, but whats really bothering me is I had yahoo for a month...problem free. So whats the deal with this? I am NOT paying for yahoo. this crap makes me crabby!

No matter what I do, how slow or fast I hit enter for the adb push payload-update.zip /sdcard/update/zip my phone gives me the signature verification falied installation aborted message.I don't understand how some of you are saying that you can hit it "too fast" - it gives me this message in well under a second after I hit the power button to apply the sdcard.update.zip.Any ideas? I don't want to reboot my phone out of fear that I can't get back into recovery mode!

Got my droid rooted, installed rom manager, d/l a rom to the sd card- lfy. I booted in recovery from rom manager, and all I get is the screen with the triangle and exclamation point. Camera button + vol up gets me a menu, one of which is about the sd card, with the file name "update zip" (I re named the lfy file to this). When its selected, it runs through some lines of script, then says something like "aborted, signature verification failed" I then have it re boot, and my phone is the same as it was before.I have read posts that say wipe, others say don't wipe! Since in a first timer, I decided to wipe, and if I'm remembering right, when you select wipe, there are three options, I did the first, the factory reset one, but did not do the other two, can't remember what they were called exactly, but had not read anything that specifically said to wipe them, so for fear of really messing something up, I left those alone. In reading more, it sounds like clockwork mod recovery is not working? I guess I'm getting the stock recovery screen? Since I renamed the file update.zip, shouldn't this work? I know this has all probably been answered, and I searched, but came up with a bunch of threads on other phone species too. Obviously I'm a noob at this, and there have been more sweaty palms and adrenaline rushes for fear of killing my droid than I have experienced in a long time! Does someone have a solution to this that even I can understand?

I've been struggling to get my Nexus One up and running with the Sense UI. I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it (it all worked as far as I can tell) but whenever I try and flash a new ROM onto the phone I get the error E: no signature E: verification failed I have tried many different ROMs from Cyanogen mod and just a standard Nexus One ROM, but I've had no luck in getting this to work. Plus, when I just return to the original state, my WiFi is out of commission and as an AT&T subscriber (I have two lines so it's not the end of the world), I rely heavily on WiFi for my nexus.

I just flashed froyo (I9000xxjpm, 2.6.32.9) on my vibrant which is from Bell in Canada. Everything works fine but when I try to reboot into the recovery using Rom Manager, it reboots and tries to install an update.zip file and then it fails with a message of "signature verification failed". I can't install any other update.zip file either. I'd like to have the clockwork recovery back.

I'm having a problem with the LVL in one of my apps. Here are the projects in my eclipse workspace: com_android_vending_licensing - standard LVL my_app_1 my_app_2 my_app_3 All three of the apps use the same licensing library project (including the same SALT), and share the same code in their main activities for checking the license. But when testing, one of the apps continuously fails the license request and the others respond correctly depending on what test response I set in the market "Edit Profile" page. The error I get in logcat is: 08-04 15:20:20.863: ERROR/LicenseValidator(4883): Signature verification failed. And the dontAllow() function of the LicenseCheckerCallback is run. This error message originates from line 104 of LicenseValidator.java in the licensing library. I've done some debugging and the responseCode is set to LICENSED (see line 94 of LicenseValidator.java).

I have created a Goldcard using the tool on this Forum. It appears okay when I check the loaded files on the card. When I try and run Test RUU it fails to update my ROM from 1.15.110.11. (T-Mobile UK). I thought HTC Sync might be the problem as I had been using disk drive to connect my phone, so I reinstalled it. HTC Sync causes my Windows Explorer to crash but I managed a workaround and tried running Test RUU again. Once again the update failed. On my phone screen I get the message CID incorrect Update fail which sounds like a Goldcard problem.

I had a stock Captivate with Eclair J6. I rooted and installed Rom Manager with ClockWork Recovery. I made a backup of my current ROM.I then installed the Cognition Froyo Beta. I decided I wanted to roll back to my backup ROM but whenever I reboot into Recovery, I no longer get any option of installing a ROM, update.zip, etc. All I get is a shortened menu that says "reboot, clear cache, wipe user data, wipe internal SD card". I also get an error that says signature verification failed.I tried reflashing the recovery area with a new clockwork update but I get the same result when rebooting into recovery. How can I restore my recovery area to a working state with the normal options?

I have a X10 Mini which is an O2 Pay as you go purchased in England. I followed the Sony Erricsson instructions posted on youtube to upgrade my phone. After a fun filled few hours the other evening, and after rebooting the phone for a final time the phone was still at v1.6. The PC companion software downloded and appeared to update the phone correctly. Now if I try to repeat the upgrade process the PC companion says that the phone's software is up to date.

I started my android project in 4.1 (API level 16) then 4.2 came out so I updated the preferences and AndroidManifest to API level 17. However, when I tried to run my app on my Nexus 4 running 4.2.1, I kept on getting this error in eclipse:
Code:
[2012-12-22 19:30:51 - Rhiokai] Installation failed due to invalid APK file!
[2012-12-22 19:30:51 - Rhiokai] Please check logcat output for more details.
[2012-12-22 19:30:51 - Rhiokai] Launch canceled!
I got this in Logcat:
Code:
12-22 19:37:29.166: D/AndroidRuntime(18646): >>>>>> AndroidRuntime START com.android.internal.os.RuntimeInit <<<<<<
12-22 19:37:29.166: D/AndroidRuntime(18646): CheckJNI is OFF
12-22 19:37:29.176: D/dalvikvm(18646): Trying to load lib libjavacore.so 0x0
12-22 19:37:29.176: D/dalvikvm(18646): Added shared lib libjavacore.so 0x0
[Code] .....
The Logcat is so long, I don't know which part is relevant. I've tried cleaning the project, the target SDK version is set to 17 and I changed the Project Build Target to API 17 as well. I've rooted my phone and have clockworkmod on but I don't have a custom kernel. What do I need to do to fix the APK file and change the permissions?

I just copy the code from http://www.openintents.org/en/node/121 to test if I can send .txt or .mp3 file as email attachment, Intent sendIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND); sendIntent.setType("audio/mp3"); sendIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, "file:///sdcard/mysong.mp3"); sendIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_SUBJECT, "Subject"); startActivity(Intent.createChooser(sendIntent, "Title:"));
But I got an error said that No applications can perform this action. My android sdk is cupcake1.5, and I have already set up my gmail acount in Email application. Anyone knows why? If I set the type as "*/*"(sendIntent.setType("*/ *");), it can launch the Email activity but with no attachment.

I have some problem installing my apk file in code. Wondering if anyone could find out what I did wrong.
What I was trying to do is put a Check Upgrade function in our program. When user clicks it, it will send request to our web server and find out what is the latest version. I use app versionName to stamp a version, something like 2010.11.23. I don't use the version code in Manifest.xml file. So our program sees the latest VersionName is later than itself, it will download the latest one, and then use the following code to install the new apk file:
CODE:........
Now looks like, everytime when I changed the VersionName, it will fail to install the apk file. It downloads the file fine. I don't know exactly why. Sometimes, in Eclips, when I hit debug, I got error saying "Re-installation failed due to different application signatures". I don't know if this is the same error caused the installation failed.
So, looks like my questions are:
Should that upgrade logic work? I am wondering if it has something to do with the VersoinName.
What could cause the application signature change? (I did sign our program before I put it on our server, but I always use the same key file for different versionName. )
