I've set my Friendstream to update every hour, and this was working fine for weeks. Recently, although it's still refreshing the sync time icon at the bottom every hour, it's not actually updating the widget with the new information. It takes a manual sync for it to refresh. Auto-sync is on, background data is enabled.

I'm trying to limit my mobile data usage with out jumping through hoops.
I'm looking for a widget, that with one click of a button, it can restrict background data, disable auto-sync and enable mobile data, and when pressed again, enable WiFi, disable background restriction and enable auto-sync.
This function, no matter how trivial, would save time and effort.
Is there anything like this out there? Would something like this require root?

If "always on mobile data" is disabled, will this have any affect on programs that are set to auto sync with back ground data enabled(Face book, twitter etc)? I'm trying to work it out but lots of people say different things?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola Milestone running Android 2.1.Is there a widget which turns "background data" ("Settings -> account & sync -> background data") on/off? I know there are several widgets which turn auto sync on off (e.g. the power control widget) and disable data connections altogether (apndroid, quick settings, etc), but that's not what I need. I searched the market, google and this forum but couldn't find anything.The only workaround I found was to create a shortcut to "account & sync" using "any cut". Not a widget, but close enough.Is there a widget, or a better way to do this?

I figured out how to enable/disable GPRS/EDGE by changing the APN settings. (weird solution. However; Android developers couldn't think a user may want to disable GPRS/EDGE) But, I couldn't find a way to enable/disable Auto Sync and Background data.
I investigated the Android code and as I understood, the Sync operation is an intend. So, I wanted to reach with putExtra to the intend and trigger the enabling/disabling. But; I couldn't find the correct keyword.
Just got a desire a couple weeks ago. My friend stream had been working fine for the first couple weeks then suddenly this weekend it wouldn't open up. Every time I try there is an error and I have had to force close. I tried uninstalling it but saw that wasn't an option.

The widget will never refresh, and whenever I try and go into it an error: "The application Friend Stream (process com.htc.friendstream) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" just keeps popping up, and I have no choice but to force close. I've been hearing rumours it could be another app I've installed that's causing it.

I can only see her FB updates when I use the FB app. I cannot see her in my list of FB friends in Friend Stream either. It seems to not be updating properly on the people widget either. Tried to resync. I even tried deleting my FB account in Friend Stream and adding it back in. This only happened with this one friend. I use to be able to see her updates, but she seemed to have disappeared from Friend Stream a couple of days ago.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got an HTC Desire recently which I haven't rooted yet or made any major modifications to. For a few weeks, the Friend Stream widget was working fine but now it is broken. It doesn't show any updates ("no recent updates") and if I click on the arrow in the top right corner (which I think takes you to the full Friend Stream app?), it thinks for a while and then I receive a message that process com.htc.friendstream has stopped unexpectedly. Is there any way to get this working again? Are there any logs anywhere that could point me to what is causing the process to crash?

View 3 Replies View Relatedi am running captjager 1.6.2 and everything has been running swimmingly up til now. it is set to auto syn every two hours, when it starts to sync and the little loop icon appears in the notification bar it just hangs there....forever or until i cancel sync and resync manually then it will finish the sync. is there a fix for this that anyone knows of? if not i will be switching back to stock, this has become annoying and probably is killing my battery.

So far, I love the setup, features and feel, the only thing I'm a little worried about is a little bit of lag.
I know the phone is renown for its processor speed and RAM, but scrolling through things like my SMS threads, the application list, and Friend Stream it is a bit 'jittery' and a little laggy. Every now and then an application like Facebook or the SMS application will crash on me. And I know I'm a rather fast texter, but when I'm texting sometimes the phone cannot quite keep up with what I'm writing.
I have no unusual applications installed and do not use task killers.
Is this normal? Or might there be some reason why its functioning a little slower than it should.
Is there anyway to get the HTC friend stream for the Eris or at least something similar? I think it'd be cool to have both facebook and twitter in the same place.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI've looked and seen people have what seems to be the same issues, my FS was working fine last night then today it wasn't, it stopped last night at about 10:37, even after talking to VZW they had no idea and said that I was the first person to have this issue (shrugs shoulder) I don't believe that but after trying everything I can think of, and then having to do a master reset again it fixed it for a sec but then it's doing it again?

Anyway, I was just wondering about friend stream. On paper its a good little app bringing together twitter and facebook. My issue is that it doesn't refresh on its own? But the peep app and the facebook app's do? Let me know if this happens with you or if I am just missing one of those hidden settings.

The widget won't update, and when I open the app it fc. I've tried doing a battery pull as well as removing then re-adding Face book (twitter is obviously been removed). Still no success. Any ideas?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have unroot the phone and get problem with friend stream and facebook. I have a problem with friend stream and facebook account. Everytime I try to setup the account it tells me that "the service is currently unavailable. Do you want to try again? If I say yes get same message. I have been into facebook account setting all platform applications where turned on so I turned it off and then back on and still the same.
Tried turning the phone off then back on same thing happens. Rooted the phone again and then restored from nandroid. Still the same, so installed the rom I had before and retried still same message. Unrooted the phone again and get same problem. Also tried removing the apps from facebook application settings. When I connect I get email saying it is connected, facebook then shows htc sense back application settings, and platform apps shows htc sense in there.
How do you delete the Friend Stream App and email accounts that you no longer want to use.
