General :: Use PC As Bluetooth Stereo?
Apr 8, 2012
i was looking at some of these BT small stereos for use with our phones and and think how much nicer it would be to just use my pc as a Bluetooth stereo, i have a Bluetooth dongle for my PC and could like to know how i could go about doing this, id like to have it set up so i could just connect and play. i cant bring myself to buy another unit when i have a nice speaker set for my computer.

I was cleaning all the crap off my phone I don't use anymore and I believe I accidently removed the bluetooth software that allows it to connect to stereo bluetooth headsets. I can control the player with the headset, I can make phone calls from it, but when I try to play music there is no sound.
I was trying to reset the phone using RUU, but it reboots the phone and then says it cannot reconnect after that and the software shuts down. I can still sync with outlook, so my driver is not the issue. I am out of ideas.
Is there anyway possible to reinstall just the bluetooth portion of the rom?

I am thinking some update to an app caused it, given that it was working fine and then stopped, but not certain.
Galaxy Note 2. Both phone and stereo show that bluetooth is connected. Calls will still go through the stereo, but music won't. The music will play through the phone's speakers, but at a very low volume - lower than what my phone shows. I do not have a volume control app or manager installed. I have: PowercycledPaired and unpaired numerous timesGone into the device settings and checked volume settings and that media is check-boxed for the car stereo device.Checked volume levels through the sound settings.Probably a few other things that I am forgetting.Husband has also researched and tried to troubleshoot with no success There was a post somewhere else (don't remember where) about a similar issue that might have been related to a Google Now update, but we tried that route also.

I just got a new 2014 Chevy Sonic and I have paired my Huawei H881C to the car stereo. Once for "Phone" and once for "Music". Right now I can play the car radio music OR press a button on the car stereo that says "Media" and select "Bluetooth" which turns the car radio music off and lets the GPS voice directions come through the car stereo speakers but no music. I can't have both, the car radio music and GPS voice directions at the same time. Seems like the music volume should mute while the GPS directions are given then return to the previous volume and continue playing the music I had going. Instead it's "either or". ?

I just purchased a new bluetooth car stereo (Pioneer DEH-6250BT) The HTC bluetooth works fine but it doesn't accept my HTC Desire via USB as it looks like it only accepts iphones. Saying that i can play music from my USB stick no problem. Is there anyway i can get around this problem without buying an ipod for music?

I am in celebration so I decided to share my technological milestone. I just had a bluetooth stereo installed in my car. I now play all my music from my Nexus one. I removed all my CDs and put them in storage. The hands free function is excellent! It works far better than my expensive phone system at work.
When I had a bluetooth ear piece it was a drag to use so I gave up. This is nothing like that. I would rather talk with the hands free through the stereo than talk directly on the phone. Music pauses when calls are made or received. Love this thing! Probably there are many people here who are rolling their eyes because they did this ages ago.

I just got the Kenwood KDC-X994. The bluetooth worked perfect the first day and now I can get it to pair with my Evo but the stereo won't answer? I do think it is my Evo, not the stereo.

I have a Pioneer DEH-P7100BT head unit in my car (fairly new model.) Bluetooth always worked flawlessly with my blackberry phone. Issue with the Evo, I can pair the Evo with my stereo and I even get the call notifications on the LDC when my Evo rings, but the calls simply do not go through the speakers. I can output audio through bluetooth, navigation, music all work, calls do not. Am I missing something in the bluetooth or phone settings or is there a compatibility issue with my car receiver?

Am trying to play music on HTC Magic via bluetooth over the car stereo. I am able to control the phone's music player via the car stereo but no sound. Call control works fine over the car stereo via bluetooth. I have tried my wife's Nokia and it plays music with sound via the bluetooth over the car stereo. I have checked and HTC Magic does show the bluetooth is connected with phone and music.

Hope someone on the forum can help, as I don't know anything about the possibilities with bluetooth. I need some way of answering the phone while driving. Existing car stereo has external jack input, so I use the Desire as my sat nav / ipod, plugging it into the stereo via two 3.5mm jacks. Thinking of buying a bluetooth headset to let me answer phonecalls. My question is, would this work with the above set up? Or would it try and send the output via the "headphones" jack to the car stereo? Car stereo does not have bluetooth. Just the aux input from the phone (sat nav / music). I don't want the music / sat nav to play into my ear, just phonecalls. I know this is expecting a lot - but is it possible to do?

I was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice on which car stereo to choose. It doesn't look like there are many brands that officially support the HTC Hero's bluetooth functions. I want to be able to make and receive calls from the head unit or, at the very least, patch my phone calls through the car speakers for handsfree use. I would love to hear if anybody has managed to get their Hero working with any particular car stereo brand/model.

I'm wondering what the current state of streaming online audio through bluetooth stereo is, post cupcake. I think the consensus is that it's not currently possible, but I feel like it should be. In fact, it does ALMOST work. Using StreamFurious or Dizzler, it will start to play and stutter a few seconds, then cut out totally. I can hear a song begin to play, but the audio is choppy and then goes out. So, bluetooth seems to be making, but not maintaining a connection to the audio stream. How to remedy this? I want my streaming SOMAFM.COM.

I have a problem with audio through my bluetooth stereo headset. I have an old Logitech FreePulse Wireless that I use and have tested it with my old samsung p2 mp3 player, no problems there. I also dont have a problem using a bluetooth earpiece for calls. However, I can't get any sound through the headset. It connects fine, shows "media playing through bluetooth" or whatever it says when I change the volume, yet nothing but silence comes out. Also I am on leaked 2.2, dont know if it worked on 2.1 because I never tried.

I recently aquired a HTC Desire froom T-Mobile UK and one of the first things i did was to pair the headset with phone. All went well up to the point of using it to liten to music and video(a2dp), alas that did not work.
Making phone calls work, and strangely enough controling playback of media via the headset (avrcp), but no other audio routed through the headset. I tried a second a2dp headset and it was the same issue. They work perfectly on my other phones for years, the Desire is the first to have this problem.
- So could it be T-Mobile or HTC forgot/screwed-up the a2dp profile?
- Do i have a faulty handset? everything works well.
- Am I doing something wrong somewhere? I went throught the user guide a few times just to be sure.

My car stereo packed in this morning, so looking to replace it. I saw a youtube video that showed someone playing videos/music on their desire and the sound coming through the car stereo via bluetooth
Does anyone do this? does it work ok? and do i need anything specific or any stereo with bluetooth will work?
Having come from a N97 the one feature i REALLY miss is the FM transmitter, was brilliant, i guess i'm trying to recreate it via BT.

How it would be possible to stream music from my LG Ally to my car stereo.
I have the Apline CDE 9873, which is NOT bluetooth ready. So before I go and buy a new stereo unit or a bluetooth connector, I was wondering if it is possible to stream music using regular air data to a bluetooth ready car stereo.
I use the last.fm app, but I may also run navigator in the background. Would both (or all multiple sound apps) go through to the car stereo?

I recently got a htc hero and I am very impressed with the phone and the os as a whole but I am having one small issue. I have a pair of bluetooth headphones and when I go to pair them I get an error that says "There was a problem connecting to NS-BTHDP." (ns-bthdp == headphone name). The weird thing is, the phone says its connect to phone audio, even though I never entered in the passcode. So I go and try to listen to music/podcasts and it plays through the speak phone.. but if I go to make a phone call it goes through the headset.I have no idea what the problem is, as these worked fine on my old gen2 ipod touch.Does the hero have limited bluetooth connectivity, or are the headphones not compatible? I would like to know more about the error, does android os have an error log that I can look at? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I can't get my Nokia BH-214 Bluetooth Stereo headset to work with my HTC Desire.I have previously had it working fine with the stock HTC sense & the LeeDroid ROM. I have recently loaded the DeFRost 4.6 ROM.I can get it to pair OK and it appears in the 'Bluetooth Devices' list as 'Paired but not connected', when I try to connect I get a 'Cannot establish communication with Nokia BH-214' error.I am guessing this ROM does not support the A2DP standard. Is there a workaround?

I'm using Modaco 2.0 and I used EncoderHD to encode some videos to watch on the bus to work. The conversion went great and a quick glance before I took off this morning showed a wonderful, smooth playback with no issues whatsoever. On the bus, I get as comfortable as one could get on a bus, flick on the Hero, start the "Album" and select my video... only to experience about 2-3 seconds of Audio/Video sync issues.what? It didn't take much testing to figure out that everything works great with the speakers and wired headsets but when I connect my bluetooth stereo headset (I have the Samsung WEP870 and the SE HBH-IS800) the sync issues start.Has anyone else experienced this or similair issues? Is there a solution? If not, do we think it's a solvable issue ( I don't have this issue on my Touch HD, but then again, the playback is far from being as smooth)

So when I get an incoming call, my droid-X rings instead of my car stereo. I have the car stereo set to ring, but it does not. So I constantly miss calls in my car to the point where I may as well not even have a bluetooth stereo. In California, we can't talk on the phone and drive so it's killing me that this does not work after investing money into the system.
Never had a problem on my blackberry. Basically if I have the stereo on, I'm not going to hear my phone ringing, I guess I could set it to auto answer (not sure if that works yet either) but I like to see the number from who is calling first on my CD Player's face.

I have a Moto stereo BT headset, and find that I am having an almost impossible time of pairing it. It works to make calls, but I can never get the media sound to come through, even though it says it is connected, I think it has maybe worked twice, with constant turning off and on of both BT on the N1 and the headset.
I noticed I had a lot of problems with my G1 sometimes, but nothing this extreme, the most it would take with the G1 is 1 or 2 tries. The first time I tried it with the N1 it worked perfect, and figured it had finally been fixed, but ever since it is more of a nightmare than ever.

I have been experiencing some frustrating audio stuttering or skipping while using A2DP Bluetooth stereo. After a lot of web searching and experimentation, I seem to have found a solution and thought I would pass it along just in case it may be of help to others.First, the problem. I am using a Sprint Samsung Moment Android v 1.5 phone and an Altec-Lansing/Plantronics Backbeat 903 bluetooth stereo headset. This combination has generally been working great so long as I am indoors or in my car. Oddly, though, as soon as I start moving around, especially outdoors -- and especially in a downtown area -- I would begin to get persistent drop outs, stuttering, skipping, etc.Research on a number of websites suggested two potential general sources for problem:
1. A2DP uses most or all of the bluetooth bandwidth and a fair amount of processor; this can create a problem of insufficient bandwidth and/or system resources. A number of sites and posts suggest various approaches based on this notion, most of which involve turning off or shutting down as many resources as possible including wifi, gps, unnecessary applications, or even restarting the phone to clear out such processes. I already do most of this just to try to keep my battery alive through the entire day. But there was one item I had not turned off and it seems to be making a significant difference: Wifi notification. (Menu --> Settings --> Wireless controls ==> Wi-Fi Settings --> Network Notification.)I have run across several theories as to why this would work. Some suggest that when you are walking outdoors (especially in an urban area), the wifi notification function encounters (moves in and out of) a lot more wifi networks and that the stuttering occurs when it is sampling or processing each of these new networks. In any event, turning this feature off seems to have made a significant difference. This seems to make a difference even if you already keep wifi turned off.
2. The other line of potential causes could be a problem with signal strength. One post suggested that bluetooth signals are stronger (or are reflected back) indoors or in a car -- but simply dissipate when you are outdoors. The suggested fix for this (as odd as it may seem) is to simply move your phone to the other side of your body. The purpose here is to avoid the bluetooth signal having to travel through your body. It turns out that Altec-Lansing actually makes this same recommendation on their support page. To my surprise, this also seems to work. The bluetooth receiver on the Backbeat headset is apparently on the left side. Being right handed, I have always preferred to carry my phone on the right. But moving the phone to my left side helped to dramatically reduce the stutters and drop outs I was experiencing with the headset.
These two steps have really helped to solve this problem for me. Using my bluetooth stereo headphones has become a real joy instead of an ongoing source of frustration. I hope this experience can be helpful to others.
