I am very new to custome ROMs. I have tried several so far and found that they do not have the "Active Sync" email type. I use my phone for work and have to have "Active Sync" for our corporate email. I have to have full outlook functionality for work. What I need to add to get that back. It was on Gingerbread, but I want a current ROM. I have a Samsung Captivate.

I have my Captivate hooked up to my company's Exchange server via ActiveSync. All is good there.My problem is that the handsfree bluetooth system in my car will only sync contacts with the Captivate's built-in Phone address book (vs the "Corporate" address book in Contacts Display Options).Right now, I have been exporting Corporate Contacts to the SD card and then importing them from the SD card into the Phone contacts. This can be a chore when I have to add/modify/delete a contact in my Corporate contacts as I have to delete all the Phone contacts and then redo the export/import every time there is a change.Is there anyway to sync changes automatically between the Corporate address book and the Phone address book? Am I overlooking something really simple?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI work in IT at my company and support mobile devices and their connection to our exchange server.One of our employees got the Epic 4g and she continues to have issues with ActiveSync not downloading emails right away. For example, this morning she had about 25 emails come in and on her Epic it showed the last email being from yesterday. I tried to manually refresh the email on the phone and it did not download any new emails. I rebooted the phone and it started downloading all her emails. This is not the first time this has happened. This is a normal occurrence for her. It will not download anything for a few hours to a few days then download everything at once.I know it is not an issue on our side as we have about 20 iPhones and about 15 Android devices working fine including my Evo. So far, she is the only one in our company with an Epic however we have about 3 employees that are about to leave their Blackberries and iPhones for the Epic and I have told them to hold of until we resolve this issue.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have the D Inc and have a question. Is there anyone to create filters in Active Sync Exchange that filters out emails so they don't hit your Inc. I have a rule setup in Outlook that automatically sends an email sent by a specific email address to go directly to my deleted items in my Personal Folders in Outlook 2007. The reason why i ask is because on my BB Storm, I setup a filter that blocked these emails from going to my BB In box. I also remember on my Moto Q with Win Mobile I always also able to setup a filter as well. I work at a help desk with a ticket tracking system, the system sends an email for every ticket opened by the help desk to all help desk employees, so my in box can fill up quite quickly. I did notice that if I have Outlook opened up on my desktop these emails do not show up on my D Inc, but when I close Outlook (Like I did last night before I went home), they are showing up today on my Inc.

Currently, I can only choose between 1 day or 3 days for downloading past e-mails on my active-sync account. This is really inconvenient since it is a work account and I would like to have access to 30 days worth of email. Does anyone know of a way to increase the days for downloading past email beyond the factory settings?

Therefore I have to use exchange active sync to sync my work calendar whilst I am at work.
To access emails outside of work with have a email route setup and a external email host.
The short is I have to add 2 accounts under the same email address. One which will connect to the work network locally over wifi and the other that will just allow me to view work emails externally.
This has worked fine previously but since my phone has been updated to 4.4 kitkat when adding the second account it pops up with a error message about duplicate accounts.
How can i bypass this message and add the second account?
I am new to android (never owned one before), and will be getting my first android device soon. I have one gmail account, another mail account with google apps and a yahoo mail account, so my contacts are spread around. So I made a separate gmail account just so that I could fetch all contacts at one place and delete the ones I dont need, and then do selective contact sync with android device. I will also use this account to back up my SMS's and any other kind of data that can be backed up in cloud.
I wanted to ask you guys when setting up the device, should I use my newly created gmail account as primary account or the one that I am using on daily basis?? My main concern is that once I bought apps with one account, I wont be able to use another account again later, so I want to get it right from the start. Also, can android still use calender and email from my other gmail accounts as primary calender/email??
My captivate does not sync with my yahoo mail account when I click the email icon.I am not sure if my incoming and outgoing settings are correct..does anyone know what the right configurations are?

I now get my gmail in both apps, is there a way to stop the gmail from retrieving my email without affecting sync with contacts and calendar?
Can I stop the gmail app from running all the time if so how? everytime i check task killer i have both email apps running.

Even when I try to refresh my corporate email doesn't update. I have it set on Push, so the email should automatically flush into my inbox. I have two other gmail accounts synced to the SF and they work fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got two Corporate Exchange Accounts with which I want to be able to Sync both email and calendars with my Fascinate. My wife has the Motorola Droid 2 with Android 2.2 and it supports multiple Corporate Sync (Exchange) Accounts. (She has three exchange accounts - two part time jobs and one for personal). I bought the Fascinate, but after I got home realized it only will support one Corporate Sync account natively. I have downloaded and installed Touchdown temporarily to handle my second Exchange Account, but Touchdown also only supports one account. I'd much prefer to use the same application for both accounts so I can see my calendars overlayed.
As I understood it, Android 2.1 supported multiple exchange accounts, but I think Samsung made a decision to override that, by including an Email app on the Fascinate that only supports one account. Has anybody heard about Fascinate's Android 2.2 (Froyo) update and whether or not it will support multiple Corporate accounts? With the exception of not supporting Multiple Exchange accounts, this phone really hit it out of the park for me. Great screen, thin and light, fast, 3G Hotspot (so I can get rid of my aircard). I'm 4 days into my 30 days with Verizon. I hope we hear something about Fascinate's 2.2 update before then.
I set up my corp exchange email account and the email part of it works flawlessly. The calendar on the other hand is very quirky. On the first Sync I noticed that not ALL appointments were brought over from my Outlook Calendar. Upon researching it seems that the meetings not coming over are all recurring meetings. Some were from other people that I was invited too but most were recurring meetings I had created on my own calendar.
I did some testing to isolate the behavior:
Create single appointment in Outlook
It shows up perfectly on the Fascinate.
In outlook change the appointment to recur monthly
Appointment vanishes from Fascinate.
Remove recurrence from appointment in Outlook
It comes back to Fascinate.
The same behavior can be seen when creating a fresh appointment with recurrence. The problem seems to be isolated also to recurrence set for the "every third wednesday" or something similar. It works for monthly on the 20th for instance.
Firmware version is: 2.1-Update1
Build: SCH-I500.DI01 (downloaded today and did not correct sync issue)
I am honestly pretty ignorant when it comes to messing with my phone. I am trying to add a new contact on my phone and something new just occurred. When I press the icon to add a new contact, it is requiring me to choose a corporate account in which to sync my contacts to before it even allows me to enter the contact. There does not appear to be an option to skip this. I do not want to sync my contacts with anything. I want my contacts on my local phone storage only. Is this something specific to just my phone? I am currently using a rooted LG spectrum running Avatar ROM version 3.0.1-1434-20130723-vs920.

1> I have tried using both domainusername and just username with no success.
2> Also have tried setting up gmail as corporate account and later changing to the desired account settings as suggested in other forums and it still shows the same error.
3> I have also tried unchecking "verify certificate"
I have been able to using the same credentials on my old phone and it used to work perfectly.
I don't really want to buy a 3rd party application just to get photos in my contacts. I am not talking about facebook or gmail contacts, just Outlook contacts. I have an Exchange 2010 server and Outlook 2010 My blackberry and my iPod both have sync'd contact photos, why doesn't android?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Exchange account with my school that I sync my email and contacts to my android phone with no problems. However, the school made a shared calendar for our class schedules that I added to my Exchange account (by adding the URL), but this calendar will not sync to my phone. If I create my own events in my personal calendar, that works fine and shows up, but the calendar that I added from the school will not. It shows up just fine on Outlook on the PC.
My current solution is to just add that calendar to my google account and sync it, but the problem with that is that our class schedules can sometimes change suddenly and gmail doesn't sync very often, which has led to some problems for me in the past. I would much rather have the direct syncing of the calendar to my phone instead of through google.
What makes it more aggravating is that my friend has no problem syncing the calendar with iOS, so I know it should be possible. I've tried using Touchdown but that has the same problem.Here is an image from the Outlook Web app showing both calendars

Anyways, my DX has been working flawlessly since I got it back on 10/6. Sunday, 10/31, my DX quit syncing just my corporate Exchange 2003 emails, then yesterday it started not sending emails as well and now, this morning, it quit syncing my personal email. Corporate email will sync manually, just not push. I have rebooted several times, pulled the battery several times, and also deleted both my Exchange account and my personal account and re-added both and the problem still persists. I don't have any task killer apps installed and haven't recently added any apps since the issues started. Anyone have an idea what may be causing the lack of push (in and out) on both of my accounts?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed CyanogenMod 11.0 for Samsung Express ATT (SGH-I437) last week without any issue and the ROM has been performing without any issues...until yesterday. I don't know what happened, but now 'auto sync' has been disabled for all my email accounts (Exchange and Gmail) and I have to manually sync my email. I know this is a first-world problem, but because the ROM seems relatively stripped-down, I can't find a means to turn-on auto sync again.
