when some apps add themselves as an ongoing notification, the counter on the notifications icon goes up by 1 per app/item. I'd prefer to not have those shown on the counter, otherwise they're there permanently

I have a sprint galaxy s3 and I'm having issues with words with friends. anytime i have a move to play, it displays it as an ongoing notification in the drop down box. i have never had issues until i updated to jellybean. it is getting annoying because i cant clear it and i notice a huge drain on my battery.
the weird thing about this is that my wife has the same phone with the same version of WWF and updated to jellybean the same way, but her notifications are not ongoing and can be cleared. there is no way to change this in the application manager in device settings or physical settings with WWF. all i can do is turn the notifications on or off. i have cleared data, force stopped it, uninstalled it, installed previous versions, and even rooted my s3 and am running synergy rom, but still no luck.
Yesterday while browsing a list of movies I accidentally clicked on a link and it started downloading the movie (default downloading app-chrome, size-3gb) I tried to clear it from my notification,force stopped chrome,deleted the folder using file explorer,rebooted my phone but it didnt stop.so I let it complete and wasted 3 gb.So I want to know in general how you can stop downloads

Certain applications, the two I think I've noticed doing it so far, were weather bug, and temp monitor. That have on going notifications, will randomly cause my phone to not turn back on from sleep. I have to do a battery pull just to get the phone back up.

Its been a while since i am doing development on android sdk , one of the astonishing i come across that there is np support in the API to remove any notification in the status bar , i am working on an application which looks for every SMS coming and on some specific sms deletes them from the inbox till now its working fine , but the notification bar still showing that u got a new message despite the fact that u have deleted it form sms database , coils somebody suggest some solution how i can accomplish this.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI added BatteryTime to one of my home screens and it asked if I wanted to display the % in the notifications to which I said OK to (it displays in the ongoing notifications and stays displayed in the top left corner of the phone). But now I'd like to remove it from there. I cant find this in the settings? I tried removing the program from the home screen, then re-adding it, but it didn't give me the options like I was displayed initially. Any ideas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use the mail default mail app@ my phone for about 3 E-Mail accounts. The problem is, only the E-Mail Icon for collected E-mail accounts shows the total number of "unread" Mails for all accounts, if I add for each account a seperate E-mail icon no number for unread Mails is visible for that account.
How can I configure the Mail app for each account with each icon, so that it shows me the number of unread messages for that specific -E-mail account.
At the moment I am using CM 7.1 on my Desire HD.
I was wondering if it is possible that when I swipe to clear a notification (in particular messages, I used GO SMS for text messages and Whatsapp) that it counts as a 'read' message. At the moment it just removes it from the notification bar although the message is still unread.
I hope I made clear what I am trying to get across. Is what I am looking for even possible?

Then if i hit the home button the app falls from view and when i attempt to bring it back via clicking on the ongoing event notification its like opening a whole new app, then when i hit the back button the ongoing even goes away and it returns me to the original app window. How do i get the notification to take me to the original rather then opening a new instance.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy S4 on Android 4.2.2. Is there any way of removing ongoing icons which permanently sit on the left side of the status bar? I ask because apps like 'Unlock with WiFi' warns you when disabling its permanent icon that it will hinder the process' activity. I tested it and yes, the app didn't detect the state of my WiFi well. Same goes for BBM's Connected icon.
Is there any way of making their visibility 0% or making the icons 0px, if not 1px, without disabling the icons entirely?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to detect whether the Notification Windows is being shown? I have a service that updates an ongoing notification, complete with a progress bar and text? Is there a way to know if the notifiication screen is actually being shown, so I can adjust how often I wouldn't be so concerned if not for the fact that the HTC Incredible will reboot after it receives several hundred or so updates. Based on a controlled experiment with a beta tester, the service could continue for 24 hours if it did not update progress, but dies after several hundred updates. So I am desperate to reduce the notifications, if that's what works, and one of the ways I could do that is by not updating as much or at all if that screen isn't being shown.
