View 2 RepliesI used ES File Explorer to copy all my OGG files in system/media/audio to external SD then used Windows explorer to copy the files to my PC. I then did the opposite process to transfer the OGG files off my PC to a new phone (have to mount RW internal storage so ES File Explorer could overwrite any duplicate OGG files.) None of the OGG files I transferred will play. However, the OGG files in the Internal Storage Ringtones directory all play fine and they appear as duplicate ringtones.
Does the copy process screw the OGG files up or can you just never overwrite files in the System > Media location and get them to work?
Seems I should just go delete all the ringtones in the System > Media location to remove the dupes and only work from the Internal Storage > Ringtones directory assuming I have all the system ringtones also in the directory.
Ditched out my bb torch 9800 and got myself a nice htc one x lte , so i am faily new to Android. So far so good i don't regret the move . I got the astro file manager to organised my pics and docs and when i cut and paste the files in astro everything goes well . However when i look back into my pics for example the pics i organised in the new folders are still showing outside the folders but can't open them but can delete them . If i look in the new folders my pics are there and everything works fines . It looks like ICS is not refreshing . Am i missing a setting somewhere ? It's a pain to delete each fake files after they are moved .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to just plug the phone into the computer via USB and a drive letter would appear and I would be able to easily move files off the phone and to my computer.
Now when I plug the phone in Media Share pops up with numerous menus and sub menus. Best I've been able to figure out to do is copy one individual file at a time to some mystery folder somewhere on my network. Or using DLNA it opens up Windows Media Player on my computer which shows previews of the photos but no way to transfer the actual files.
I am coming to you via BB Tour. I had a ton of pictures saved on my SD card and now I want to take all those pictures and put them on the SD card on my new EVO. I have plugged both phones into my computer and tried that with just one picture to see if it would work and I could not find the picture that I moved. Can someone please give me some step by step instructions on this? Also while I have you guys attention for a moment I am also having problems hooking up the hot spot. My computer is saying that it is reading it and says it is connected but when I pull up the web it says that it can not be connected.

Or will I have to transfer everything off on to my pc, reformat the card and manually move the files and folders I want to keep?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy issue revolves around trying to use apps like the default files app preinstalled on the Droid X, Astro File Manger, or Estrong File Explorer. For some reason when I move files from folder to folder or copy and paste files into different folders the actual files appear to be there but when I go into the actual applications where the files should be they aren't there.
Example: I had put a few self made ringtones and notifications onto my SD Card via the USB cable that came with the droid from my computer to my Droid X. I made a seperate Media folder on the Card and put sub folders in that like I was supposed to. All the correct files appeared where they should once I disconnected and looked on my phone. New ringtones were in the ringtone directory through accessing them through settings, notifications where there, etc. Now when I try moving one of my ringtones into my notifications folder via, Astro file manager or Estrong File Explorer or the files app that came with the Droid X is moves the files into the folder and you can see it moved by actually viewing it in the folder you just moved it to. But when I go into my settings, notifications tones and look for the file I just moved there...it's not there for me to select, but it is when I look at my file manager. I've tried this in the music folder, ringtone folder and notifications folder and they don't appear in the actual applications where I moved them to, but they appear in the file manager as being there. Am I doing something wrong. I don't understand why this is happening.
I have a Motorola Droid, it is not rooted and I am currently in a deployed location and have no service/access to any networks. My phone got a little wet, but still works for the most part and I want to factory reset it without losing my apps/music/contacts/pictures etc. Is there a way to move all of this stuff to the SD card using and explorer straight from the phone without using a computer? I am out of options.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI may opt to buy a larger 16GB card for my Dinc to replace the 2GB card that came with it that I've been using for weeks. Will it just be a matter of copying all the files and directories from the old card to a temp folder on my PC and then copying them back to the new card once installed in the phone? Don't want to lose what I already have on my 2GB card.

View 4 Replies View Relatedgot a Samsung Galaxy S4 (for several years I had iPhones) and I am enjoying it. Now that I have gotten all my music files away from iTunes' clunky clutches I have reorganized them and they are on my S4's sim card and it works great.
The issue is that I have updated a few of the files and moved a couple more around. I want to update those music files on my S4 from my PC. I could just delete the Music folder on the S4 and recopy everything over, but that seems to be a huge overkill.
What is a good way to compare files between my S4 and folders on the PC and match/update between the two? I am using Windows 7. I have tried to map the Sim Card as a drive but couldn't get that to work. I have Kies from Samsung but that is kinda clunky. I have also tried AirDroid (which I think is great) but I can't really sync files with that. Normally I would use a Windows application like Beyond Compare or WinMerge to do something like this.
I am on a standard website that has a normal upload button, I need to upload a PDF file, But when I click on the upload button on the web site a popup window from my Android phone appears and says "Choose action" and gives me access to the gallery, camcorder, voice recorder , choose music track, gallery (again), select music track and voice recorder (again).
I need to some how get access to my SD card and my download folder to be able to pick the the pdf file that I need to upload. I have tried this both on the default internet browser and Google Chrome, but both give the same options.
I am on a rooted HTC ONE on ATT
My Sandisc 64GB SD card went kaputt last week, it froze at 33GB, luckily the existing files are all ok and I was able to copy all the files onto my PC, however nothing new can be written to it. I've tried formatting with no success. So I copied the files onto the PC and just got a new this time Samsung 64GB micro SD card. Problem I'm having now is that on several attempts it's failed to copy the files back to my SD card (from PC) I've formatted the card in the Note 3..the music files about 4 GB transferred just fine, the problem seems to be with the Pix and Videos. I'm currently trying to copy the DCIM folder back onto the micro sd and it's saying it'll take 6 hours.
I have tried: copying from PC to micro SD in the phone via USB copying from PC to micro SD in SD card adapter plugged directly into PC
copying from PC to micro SD in USB adapter plugged into PC
all results the same
I updated a popular word game and the new version simply doesn't work. I've waited a few weeks and no update. This is on my tablet and I still have the older version on my phone. How can I copy the older version from the phone to the tablet? Or can I? Neither are rooted and I can't seem to find where the file is stored.

im trying to exchange some files in /system/framework of a stock jellybean 4.2.1 rom that came with my nexus 10.
I have built a workin rom from AOSP sources and made little adjustments that are present in /system/framework/services.jar and services.odex
I have built full_manta-user (not -userdebug!) so that the rom gets odexed and matches my stock rom.
The problem is i get stuck in a boot loop when i use my services.odex file on my stock rom. Is there a way to make it work or debug it?
I get my first android phone, Nexus 5, tomorrow.
1) I have iPhone data plan through ATT. Is ATT going to make a big deal about me no longer on an iPhone? The plan allows me to tether so would like to keep it if I can.
2) Is there a tool that would allow me to transfer contacts, calendar, pictures and music to N5?
I've had my SGS2 for about 2 weeks now. It's awesome, but I have a problem with the icons, especifically the VIDEO icon, I move it to one place, and after I download an app or move another icon it moves itself to the last page of icons. This happens like twice a day. I also have a folder with 27 icons, did a battery pull and the folder was empty and all the icons where roaming different pages.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm new here! I've benne a palm Pre user for months (I still own it) but the experience was not painless, mainly due to the fact that the product is not supported in my country (Italy) and thus I have non access to paid Apps...
But then, my wife gave me a really nice gift: a brand new HTC Desire!
I've used it for a week now, and I'm totally sold to it.
Now, the problem is: I'd like to migrate all my personal data from my Pre to the Desire.
I had no problem with contacts and calendar (Google!) but I have no clue on how to transfer the rest of my stuff, and if it's possible or not.
I'm referring to:
* old SMS
* Memos
* Tasks

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an iphone4s and I'm quite happy with it, except for the fact that I hate Apple. So I want to move back to Android. Things that I like about the iphone is the mail app and. mostly, battery life (battery consumption when screen is locked is superb, and that is the phone status usually). I'm not going to use the phone for games, but for calls, whatsapp, twitter, g+, music (lots of music playing), some video and gps navigation. I would like to ask people for recommendations on a good terminal based on (most important to less important):
1.- Battery life (I give importance to battery life when idle)
2.- Fast processor
3.- Fast charging
4.- Support for external storage (microSD)
5.- Cyanogenmod compatible
6.- If possible, the terminal sould allow me to replace the battery
Do not comment on things like switch off wifi when not browsing the web, or switch to 2G when not using 3G to improve battery life. I do not do that now and I have power for 36 straight hours with my iphone. I'm not looking for workarounds for bad battery life. I'm trying to have the same battery performance I have on my iphone on a phone with Android without switching things on and off.
i got a samsung galaxy s4 mini the other days and i bought a sd card 8gb kingston class 4, specially for games. i downloaded asphalt 8, automaticaly installed on the internal memory,ocuppied 1.5 gb. when i'm moving it on sd card with "manager apps" it does move but the game occupy totally 3 gb, 1.5 on internal memory and 1.5 on external memory. when i'm moving it with "my files" android>data/obb etc etc, it doesn't work the game, it occupy just 1.5 in internal memory and when i'm starting the game it says to me that i must to download the game, the 1.5gb that i'm talking about.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have installed Jaggyrom 3 on my HTC explorer, sometimes my phone freezes and as per the post in XDA, I have installed cranium kernel 3.
Since then I am unable to move any apps to sd card. Its saying "Unable to move, system error". The only reason I rooted my phone is to install apps I like, if this is not happening then I am in a real loss.
Can I install the jaggyrom 3 with the "Freeze phone".
