I've been looking through the filesystem of android, and for the life of me cannot find the files that make up the settings menu in android. It's been a long while since I've attempted modifying anything myself.

I have an Android 4.0.4 tablet. Trying to decipher the Storage listing in Settings. There are two listings, each labeled as Internal Storage. This was advertised as having 512 Mb memory, but these numbers in Storage just don't add up.

I am having problems with the locale program. I set the conditions for a specific location and will place the settings on vibrate on. If I have my ringer on, its supposed to override that if I am located within the location on the condition? Can someone please explain more detail how it works. And what specifically does the defaults do in relation to an active situation?

First off, is there anyway to take a custom image that I have and I am using and put it into the list of "default" backgrounds so that when I change it I don't have to go through that resize hassle and everything and I can have it in a more organized location. Also are there any applications or tools out there to get great looking wallpapers for the nexus one. Sometimes when using an image it doesn't look that good and the selection thing when doing it from the gallery is annoying because of the selection has to be a square yet my screen is 800x480.

I have a binary file which contains image. I have to jump on different locations in file to read the image file. So far I am using mark and reset methods but these are not helping me as I want. And I am using Input Stream to read the file.

Once they pick the picture (using the Android gallery), the the file-location of the image will be sent to another Activity, where other work will be done upon it. I have seen similar posts here on SD, but none to answer my question specifically. Basically this is the code I am doing when the user clicks the "Load a Picture" button:

As the code above states, the uri.toString() will return a content:// string instead of the file location of the selected picture. How do I obtain the file location?
Another possible solution is to send over the content:// string and convert that into a Bitmap (which is what happens in the next Activity). However, I don't know how to do that.
I want to move some files from sdcard to /data/data/myapp/files folder, I can use OpenInputFile and OpenOutputFile and write to it, then delete the original one. But it is slow, so, I tried to use oldFile.Rename(newFile), but it always return false. Any idea? The reason I am doing this is to hide some files from my sdcard, so, nobody can see them.

Recently all my android devices think they are in Spain when I am at home in Toronto.
I think this was caused when I ran a location spoofing program on only one of my devices, one of the locations I set it to was Spain (among others).
I've tried clearing the data for the Network Location apps, changing the SSID on my router with no luck.
The only way it shows the correct location is when I go outside and run Google maps long enough to get a GPS fix. But when I go back inside I am back in Spain!

Now I wish to move a photo from one place to another folder using Astro and somewhere I'm losing the plot. I long press the photo, I then choose edit, then move......but then how do I actually move the photo/file to it's new location?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo does anyone know the location of the sound file for the double-beep camera focus? I found the "camera_click" and the "videorecord" sound files but don't see the one for the focus. It's not located in system/media/audio/ui like the other 2 camera sound files.
I really hate the double-beep focus sound and yes I know 3rd party camera applications will enable you to silence it but I was looking to just replace the sound file with a silent sound file instead.
I am new to this phone and so far so good.Working things out and getting it set up like I want it. I have two photograph widgets on one of my screens, one set up for newly taken pictures and one set up for newly shot video. The only problem is, I don't know how to change the default video save location. I am using the astro file manager and have seen that all videos and pictures save into a file named DCIM on my SD card. How do I change this to make it save pictures and videos into different files?I have made a different file for my videos and manually moved them into the folder but the phone is still saving new videos to the same old default place.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI flashed cwm 6.0.3.2 to my device samsung galaxy young s6312, stock android 4.1.2 jellybean, rooted, using a tutorial on xda. One of the reasons I flashed it was to create a nandroid backup. But when I try to backup my phone, it backs up boot image, recovery, system, and then it begins backing up data. After some time I got an error, "error while creating backup image of /data". Also when I rebooted my device after this, I saw that my external sd card (where the backup was getting stored) was totally full. So is this a problem with my storage?? Do I need more free space to create a Android backup?? Btw, I have 2 GB free memory on my external sd card.

I'm developing a mapping app using Eclipse 3.5.I'm setting the minimum update period with the LocationManager's requestLocationUpdates method, via a configuration activity. When I set the property I see in Logcat that the system process sets the value OK.When I actually send a new location from the DDMS emulator control and the location changes on the map view, I see that the system process then sets the minimum time to zero.Below is a capture of the system's log messages. You can see that I'm setting the period to 32 seconds, then 16, then, after I've sent a simulated location change the system sets it to zero.The map responds to location changes to location changes instantly even if they are sent only a couple of seconds apart.

But unfortunately this tablets's OS is not a normal android 3.2; It has been customized and we can't access many applications or other thinks. I should edit the launcher (I said desktop but I don't know how calls It..). It has programs and widgets tabs and I want to put a new tab here. And anyone cannot see programs and widgets tab without any permission. This permission will give students's tablets by teacher ('s tablet). So, students can't play anything in the lesson but when it is over, stundents can play anything what they want.. Teacher will give the permission before leaving class..

I went into GO SMS and set it to default within the application, but I guess android has a setting that is overriding Go.
I just got my pair of UE600vi earbuds with a mic and in-line controller.
Everything works as expected (so no volume control), but what I didn't expect was that the built-in mic doesn't seem to work properly. When the cable is plugged in properly I get audio in a call, but the person on the other side of the line says he can't hear anything.. However, if I take the plug out a bit so that one black ring is out of the plug the mic seems to work,(probably because the mic is disabled and it uses the phone mic..) but I only get audio to one earbud.
I contacted Logitech which said that they can do nothing and that it's Android's problem.. However some people say that they've had no problems with apple-optimized headsets apart from the volume buttons.
