I obtained an Android from a friend and created a second account for the Play Store. Now I want to remove the initial account (first on the list). It has as its ID a non Gmail account and I do not know the password associated with it.
I went into App settings and for Google Play Store clicked on Clear data. That did not remove either account.
What are the step to take to remove the initial account?

Dec 6, 2013I'm setting up a tablet (Asus MemoPad FDH10, Android 4.2.2) for my mother, and I would love to be able to install the apps I've already bought, but without giving her access to my emails, photos and other data linked with my Google account.
One way is to add my Play Store Account, download the apps and then remove it, but some apps request licence and I fear that there should be some problems with it. Is there any work around?

Aug 24, 2013I signed in to Google Play using my own personal email address, as I figured that would be the easiest way to manage my account. Lo and behold, a year later there are now four Android devices on my Google Play account (my S3, a Nexus 7, a 2013 Nexus 7, and a Kindle Fire running AOSP). When setting up these other devices, I could not figure out how to set up my account for only Google Play. I have sync disabled for things such as GMail and Hangouts, but they can still manually switch to my account in the respective apps. I have Googled around and cannot find any solution, though I think some of that may have to do with me having no idea how to word my search queries. Is there any way to set this up, or will I have to make an entirely new Google account for the entire family? I have not purchased many apps (no more than $30), but the two Nexuses (Nexi?) that are not rooted will lose all of their app data.

Apr 12, 2013I'd like to know if there's any way I can remove an specific app from the Play Store list, without uninstalling it. Or if there's a way to remove this app from the apps that are checked for updates.
The reason is that I have a Motorola Defy+ and I like the stock music player, which is just fine. There's an update called Tune Wiki which is, in my opinion, pure crap. So in order to install updates of all my other apps I have to install one by one, because I can't choose the option "update all" since it would update the music player too.

Aug 5, 2013i've noticed that once I update a system apk for the first time from the play store, it appears in the "My Apps" list on Google Play. However if I then disable that app, it still appears under the play store history (with "disabled" shown next to it), but with no way to remove it from the My Apps list. Aside from rooting the phone and removing the apk by hand (which I know causes the App to disappear from the My Apps list, disabled or not), and then reloading the apk, but disabling it before google play detects it again, is there any way to remove that app from the My Apps list in the play store? I've tried online through the desktop store but I can't find a way to do that either.

Dec 1, 2013Having owned 11 different Android phones/tablets since 2010, I have a gazillion apps listed in my Google Play Store account. I know it is possible to individually delete apps from my phone/tablet, but for the love of all things telephony, once you delete an app it takes you back to the frickin' top of the list. I thought there would be a simple way to do this by going to the Play Store on my laptop, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get rid of them. I realize it is not a big deal, but being the obsessive person that I am, once I try to do something.
When I log into my Google Play Store account on my laptop and go to "My Apps", it lists all the apps that I have ever downloaded, but there doesn't appear to be a way to delete them like there is on a device!

Jun 24, 2013I just flashed my Sony Ericson Xperia Play with a custom kernal and ROM. I am attempting to connect to the google play store but it wont let me use my yahoo account. When it says to enter my account it asks for a google account and my yahoo account is currently associated with google, i have been able to download apps for my phone through this account before (Before flashing the phone).
It's not the flash which has made it impossible to use my yahoo account but the fact that i need a gmail account now to download apps. In the past i have been able to use my yahoo account but i cannot get it to work.
How i can log into the play store with my yahoo account? Is it impossible to access the play store with a non gmail account or that you cant have a google account associated with a non gmail email address i will post screenshot for proof.

Sep 25, 2010So my primary computer crashed and I had to reinstall all my programs and restore files from a backup. I had been syncing my Outlook calendar with my Gmail account using Google Calendar Sync which would then sync with my Captivate. When I reinstalled Outlook and synced with Gmail, it created duplicates of all my appointments. The only way to fix this was to delete all my appointments in Gmail and resync. Unfortunately, it didn't remove the duplicates from my phone. In fact, I have triplicates of many appointments. I thought I could just remove the Gmail account from my phone and add it back. Nope, my phone says that it's required by some programs and can only be removed through a factory reset. I thought that maybe I had to have a Gmail account on the phone for it to work so I added another one. I then attempted to delete the original. Nope, still wouldn't let me. Since that wasn't the problem I tried to delete the newly added account. Nope, no can do. So am I understanding correctly that there is no way to remove an account once it's been added without doing a factory reset?

General :: Unhide Play Store
May 20, 2013I have a personal android device that I have joined to my companies network and as part of the MDM policy the google play store gets hidden. Company is 60k+ employees, so there's no hope of getting an exception.
So far I've managed to side load about 90% of the applications I need via android drawer but this only works for free apps, I can't load any of the apps I've purchased from the Play store without the play app.
I have tried to sideload the play store, and it seems to install fine, but doesn't show anywhere in the app drawer, or under the app information in the settings menu.
I've also tried to go to play.google.com to install via web, but the device in question isn't listed as an available target for install (presumably because I've never logged into play from it).
I have read-only filesystem access to the device, is the a way to manually execute the binary that launches the play store? If so, where it's located? I checked /system/apps/ and it's not there.how I can unhide or launch the play store app so I can get my purchased apps loaded back onto my device?

Aug 14, 2013So I developed my first android app which is in the play store I don't have a physical android phone so I developed the app using emulators and stuff and when I do a play store search on the web, I can find my app. Anyway yesterday, I downloaded this new android emulator called Genymotion that comes with emulated phones that have access to the play store and when I did a search of my app in the play store on the emulator I couldn't find it. Then when i did a Google search on the phone and clicked on the link to open it in the play store it said that the app was not compatible with the phone which is weird because the emulator is running android 4.2.2 and the app is supposed to run on anything from Android 2.2 upwards. Anyway, do a quick search on your play store app and search for my app called "Reflap" (No need to download it) . If you can't find it, do a Google search on your phone and find the link to the play store, click it and open it in the play store and see if it gives you the incompatibility message.

1. Resetting the phone ( both through settings and service menu. )
2. Re-installing Freedom, opening it and manual closing it, clearing data and uninstaling.

Jul 9, 2012Yesterday after turning on wi-fi on my EVO 3D, there was a system update notification. Yes, it was the long awaited ICS. Since it was very late I didnt play around it with it till today. When i did, i noticed that play store wont update my apps anymore due to 921 error. Quick google search suggested that i delete cache and reinstall app. Well, i managed to remove the app somehow (even though i got "was not removed successfully message"), because whenever I press the Play Store icon, the message "the linked program is no longer installed on your phone" appears. I have no clue how to get this back. To be honest i dont understand how a user can be allowed to remove such a vital app...
