General :: Use Smali Instead Of Java Decompiler To Reverse APK Files?
Jan 4, 2014I spent 1 month coding an android app, and then I lost the source code in an hdd crash. Well, those things sux, but hopefully I managed to find an old apk build of this app. I was able to recover part of the source code by extracting the classes.dex file, decrypting it with dex2jar, and then opening the decrypted file with java decompiler (jd-gui.exe)... I remained amazed when I saw that my source code was so easy to found...
Now I wonder, why people use smali to reverse apk files instead of dex2jar+jd-gui ??

But the only files I get after compiling are .xml files and .smali files...

General :: Sync / Compare Files (with Emphasis On Music Files)?
Sep 3, 2013got a Samsung Galaxy S4 (for several years I had iPhones) and I am enjoying it. Now that I have gotten all my music files away from iTunes' clunky clutches I have reorganized them and they are on my S4's sim card and it works great.
The issue is that I have updated a few of the files and moved a couple more around. I want to update those music files on my S4 from my PC. I could just delete the Music folder on the S4 and recopy everything over, but that seems to be a huge overkill.
What is a good way to compare files between my S4 and folders on the PC and match/update between the two? I am using Windows 7. I have tried to map the Sim Card as a drive but couldn't get that to work. I have Kies from Samsung but that is kinda clunky. I have also tried AirDroid (which I think is great) but I can't really sync files with that. Normally I would use a Windows application like Beyond Compare or WinMerge to do something like this.
General :: Tool To Compare Versions Of APK Files With Installed Apps?
Mar 24, 2012The problem is maintaining apps that were NOT installed from the Market, but from .apk files scattered in various directories on the SD card. What I need is a tool that combines the functionality of an app manager like Easy Installer together with details of all currently-installed apps: In a single big list sorted by app name, I'd like to see the installed version (if any), plus every available .apk file and the version it contains. That would make it SO much easier to know if I need to update installed apps with a newer version, and to delete multiple .apk files of outdated versions.
I've seen lots of apps (including the Apps menu built into Android Settings) to view the installed apps and their version info -- and also lots of apps to scan the whole SD card for .apk files and display the actual app info (name, version, etc.) vs. just the filenames. What's missing is an easy way to compare all these.

When I opened the smali folder, I was surprised to see the classes of my source code, each class was a smali file. I thought that the source java code didn't appear even after decompiling, only XMLs could be edited. But if smali represents the source code, can the source code then be edited?

I'm using wanams apk manager, I make the changes to the statusbar.smali file and the xml files, I compile and it doesn't work on my phone, so I decompiled the modified apk, and the changes to the xml files went through but the smali files go back to the originals.
when compiling I use yes on Is this a system apk, yes to copy additional files, go to keep, delete resources.arsc and finish.
It happens with any smali file when I compile, I use notepad++ to edit the files.
So what I ended up doing since my xml files were saving but my smali files weren't, I didn't realize that when compiling it asks to copy over files and the classes.dex file was overwriting all my changes to the smali files, so I compiled and when it asks to delete files from the keep folder I took the classes.dex from that folder, decompiled it seperatly made the changes to the smali files there. I still deleted my resources.arsc, then I finished making the apk opened the apk and replaced the classes.dex there with my modified one. pushed to my phone and everything works perfectly.

Jun 26, 2010So im getting my evo replaced since the mic just gave out only gets a reading if u blow into the mic hole otherwise no one can hear me and idk how to fix it dont know if its software or hardware. no water damage or dropping treat this thing like its my baby. I have no other problems with it and ill prob be getting the 003 version when i receive it sat or monday. I just wanna know who likes there screen on 003 and if u had both which do you prefer? I mean if i dont like the screen on the 003 im def taking it back later on when they change screens back when they get there suppy if they do.

Jul 3, 2013I am on a standard website that has a normal upload button, I need to upload a PDF file, But when I click on the upload button on the web site a popup window from my Android phone appears and says "Choose action" and gives me access to the gallery, camcorder, voice recorder , choose music track, gallery (again), select music track and voice recorder (again).
I need to some how get access to my SD card and my download folder to be able to pick the the pdf file that I need to upload. I have tried this both on the default internet browser and Google Chrome, but both give the same options.

General :: Transferring Files BACK ONTO SD Card From PC (Note 3 Files)?
Mar 19, 2014My Sandisc 64GB SD card went kaputt last week, it froze at 33GB, luckily the existing files are all ok and I was able to copy all the files onto my PC, however nothing new can be written to it. I've tried formatting with no success. So I copied the files onto the PC and just got a new this time Samsung 64GB micro SD card. Problem I'm having now is that on several attempts it's failed to copy the files back to my SD card (from PC) I've formatted the card in the Note 3..the music files about 4 GB transferred just fine, the problem seems to be with the Pix and Videos. I'm currently trying to copy the DCIM folder back onto the micro sd and it's saying it'll take 6 hours.
I have tried: copying from PC to micro SD in the phone via USB copying from PC to micro SD in SD card adapter plugged directly into PC
copying from PC to micro SD in USB adapter plugged into PC
all results the same

Jan 3, 2013im trying to exchange some files in /system/framework of a stock jellybean 4.2.1 rom that came with my nexus 10.
I have built a workin rom from AOSP sources and made little adjustments that are present in /system/framework/services.jar and services.odex
I have built full_manta-user (not -userdebug!) so that the rom gets odexed and matches my stock rom.
The problem is i get stuck in a boot loop when i use my services.odex file on my stock rom. Is there a way to make it work or debug it?

May 26, 2010Does anyone know how the Evo's antenna will compare with the Hero?I just moved to sprint to get the Evo, but had to switch early. My wife and I were given Heroes to hold us over for two weeks until the Evo launch.I'm noticing that i'm having reception issues in areas where my iphone, and Incredible got decent to great coverage.Is this an issue with the Hero alone or a sign of Sprints smaller footprint then AT&T and Verizon?

I'm sure everyone here can account for the various ways an android phone is superior to a BlackBerry, and I'm pretty familiar with them. What's been holding me back though, are the minor productivity tweaks a BlackBerry provides that seemingly don't have a match on android devices. Am I wrong on these? Have others made the jump and found no difference? Specifically: Dedicated hotkeys of sorts -- I'm a pretty heavy business user, so I make ridiculously extensive use of my calendar/scheduler. No matter what I'm doing at the moment, I'm able to jump to my calendar with a single button press and see my entire week's worth of appointments. If I need to add something, I can schedule an appointment in under 5 seconds all the way through. To be honest, that's probably the only hotkey I use, but the ability to do this in an instant no matter what's in my way is rather important for me -- are there any equivalents on android phones? Through my research I've noticed a lack of hardware hotkeys. Is there any software solution that could at least compare?.....

Ofcourse there are some CDMA2000 network running by CHINATELCOM. incredible is a wonderful cellphone,and thanks the news from androidforums let me know that the TP2 battery could be used in incredible. So i brought a tp2 battery and the brand name is MOMAX(the famous battery manufacturer from CHINA,hongkong sar),and the battery capacity is 1500mah,(by the way,MOMAX usual get it's real capacity and never fakes),so it was became famous and still a good chance for the no-OEM battery as reason of the same quality and lower price.(the 1500mah battery for TP2 just only 11 USD) yes i got the MOMAX tp2 battery,and it can be used in incredible,but there are something unperfect is the tp2 battery is a little thick than OEM and the and the backcover can't close totally as same as the OEM one. you can see the picture about the oem battery and MOMAX TP2 attached and the difference when closed the back cover. espically the picture named "useoem1" and "usetp22". although the tp2 battery can't close the backcover totally,but it was already "closed" and can be used for incredible. i viewed the batteryboss.org it seems that the seidio's capacity only get 85% of its marked. and 1750 X 85% only 1487.5 so i think that use tp2 battery would be economic ,the same price to buy one seidio would to buy 4 MOMAX for tp2.

What concerns me, though, is that Ogg Vorbis isn't listed as a supported music file type for the Evo, unlike the Hero. Does the Evo really not do Ogg? That would be a deal killer for me, since all my music is in that format. Also, for those of you who've had the Hero, how is the sound quality of the Evo in comparison, and does it seem to put out the same amount of power? (The Hero drove my big Sennheiser 580 headphones just great all by itself- I would hate to have to get an amp.)P.S. I did some searching, and could not find these subjects covered.

Feb 23, 2010I am starting to regret my purchase of the Samsung Moment, I dont know if its with the Lacking OS of 1.5 as I see 2.0 on the website the interface is different with the phonebook, the way the screen looks. I still have yet to figure out how really this phone is the "same" or compares to the IPhone ... in simple ways of application use, I still see my friends on their I Phones talking to millions of people with in a 5 mile range to a 100 mile range on all these social applications.With also that in talk of Applications why is it when i try to get a NEW! or POPULAR! application I have the wrong OS I am starting to think I should of held out for the Nexus unlocked cause I think that is the only one you can get that does everything. I was really hoping for a socialized phone not a traveling phone. I will say it is handy ,when you go into the store to compare prices or when you go on a long trip finding restaurants,gas stations and such but the I phone helps everyone connect and thats what I really would like to see a SOCIAL app for ALL android USERS together!

After following a couple of tutorials i made an SMS application, i want to do an specific task when a specific text is received, i do this by comparing the text received to a value(code) that i already declared. The problem is that this condition never ocurrs.When I send the message it always displays the inv variable (Invalid). I tried to change the "code" variable to an integer, and then parse the string so I could compare it; in this scenario it did work, but whenever I received a string message the application crashes. I think it should be a simple thing, but since i don't fully understand java i can't figure it out.
