How to take a list of items from a database and put them into a list that a user can scroll through and then select one of them to open up a second screen.
E.g. if I have colors in my database, the screen would simply show all the colors in a list that I can scroll through to find the one I want. When I find the one I want, I can then select it to open up a second layout with the details.

One of my activities receives some data.I want to obtain a layout like the one for the "contacts" app, which has 1 contact on each row and clicking a row you pass to another activity which shows the details.
What do I need to create the "list" layout?
Are those rows simply TextViews or what else?
How do I generate the rows at runtime into the layout?
If it is too long to write down some code, just tell me what I need and I'll check by myself.
I cannot find any example of a widget showing a scrollable list of items (e.g. text) since the widget api says there is no listview, no scrollview etc.. at all, how to implement a scrollable list inside a widget?
For example a list like friends-stream from HTC shows or many other widgets around.... do i have to code my own list-implementation for a widget.

I have an array adapted listview (the array adapting is done in another class). I just got the click listener working for the list but now I want set it up so that when I click an item. It pulls the strings from the clicked item and piggybacks them on the intent to a new activity. I figure I am supposed to use intent.putextra however I am not sure how to pull the correct strings corresponding to the item that i click on. My code is below. I am simply lost to be honest

This morning when I logged into Facebook on my work computer it told me there had been a login from the Netherlands and asked if this was known to me. I said no so I had to change my password. So I went to my HTC Desire and updated the Faceboom account details with my new password and it sync'd fine. The FriendStream shows my facebook newsfeed but when I go into the Facebook app itself it shows no data and tells me there is a problem. Nowhere in there do I see a separate account setting feature so I assume it takes the account info from the Droid Settings. How can I get the Facebook app to pull my facebook data?

I know I can use the ".tables" command. I want to retrieve a list of all tables in it, using code, so that I can execute some specific algorithms on each of them. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a database, a ListView, and a CustomCursorAdapter that extends CursorAdapter. A menu button adds an item to the database. I want the ListView to update and show this change. Normally it doesn't show this new item until i go to the homescreen and reopen the application.
I did eventually get it to work by calling cursor.requery() or mCustomCursorAdapter.changeCursor(newCursor) whenever I added a new item, but when I set autoRequery to false in the CursorAdapter constructor, it worked just the same. Why does it update correctly when autoRequery is set to false?
Am I using CursorAdapter correctly? What is the standard way of keeping the list updated with the database? And what does autoRequery do?
OK, before I start, it's about an LT15i. I don't know what's happening, but at some .FTFs Flashtool does not show the file list (middle column) and neither "wipe cache" or data and one FTF has the "wipe cache" option only. This is really annoying. Tutorials specify a download link for a specific FTF and after starting Flashtool and selecting the flash option, that FTF is not showing up properly. Should I download an earlier version of the program?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new on android and building an application which uses webservice to collect user information in XML. I also get path for a small jpeg picture of each user. (Currently there are about 200 users) I am parsing the XML and storing the information in SQLiteDatabase. Pictures are stored as blob and able to retrieve them.
I display names of users on listview with images as well. But is this a good solution for storing pictures in SQLite Database ? or should consider storing it in file system ? Which is suitable in terms of performance , as well as memory and any other pro and cons on Android.
Also like to know which is best performing XML parser for Android ?

I am not sure why, but when I comment out the code below where it retrieves an object from the database based on id stored in the bundle, the problem goes away.
Not sure why the db transaction is causing an issue.
secondly, is it better to store the object in bundle instead of storing its id and retrieving it from db in onCreate?
