I've been trying several browsers and only Miren browser had the feature I need. I mean then I loaded pages stays loaded until I close the tabs/browser manualy.
All the other browsers keeps reloading pages then I don't need them to reload. For example - open some website, go to other app, then turn off mobile network and wifi, then go back to internet browser and it's only blank page (or an error page).
Recently I have flashed ICS ROM and now Miren browser FC sometimes.. I guess it's because of Miren browser is no longer supported and some ICS incompatabilities or ROM problems..
So any other browser which doesn't reload pages when apps being switched back and forth? Or way to keep all browser loaded tabs (in cache(?)) so it don't need to reload so much?

Are those saved as images? Because when I try to use the 'search on page' function of the browser it does not find any letter. (Yeah I think it's obvious)
If so, any browser that lets you save like an offline html so the search function will work?

I am developing a network that will have a welcome screen right after the Wifi connection of the device. The welcome screen is an html file that is downloaded from the router. When i try this system on IOS platform a captive portal screen (pseudo browser) is launched and read the HTML file.
Android platform on the other hand is only pop up a notification that is required to tap in order to open the html file (launching an installed browser). Is it possible to force the device to automatic launch browser without poping the notification?

When Im connected via the mobile network, the default browser wont load pages with SSL (secure pages).
It just shows the padlock and nothing else.
The default browser loads SSL pages when connected via Wi-Fi.
Opera browser load SSL pages both via the mobile network and Wi-Fi.
I tried resseting to default in the browser but it didnt help.
I find it really odd.
If I uninstall the browser, can I reinstall it from market (I didnt see it there).?

I have a rooted Droid X running the original 2.2 leak and have been using Dolphin Browser HD since I got it. Lately I noticed every time I go back to the browser after "minimizing" it, it reloads the pages that were open. Now, I could be completely crazy and it could have been doing this the entire time I've used it but I feel like this is something new. It's quite annoying actually, as I have to wait every time I pull the browser back up. I can't point at anything that recently changed that could have affected it, I even uninstalled and reinstalled it to try and fix it but to no avail.
Am I the only one this happens to? Am I crazy and it has been happening the whole time and I only just noticed it? When is the droid x 2.2 official OTA coming out!

Problem is, any page on the BBC News website containing a Flash movie crashes the stock browser . So, while this and this are OK. This, this and even the mobile help page crash the browser (links included for you to try ). No force close, the browser just vanishes and I get returns me to the phone home screen.
I've cleared the cache and cookies and even restarted the phone to no avail (and no, I'm not doing a hard reset ).
iPlayer pages are OK as is YouTube.
Is this a BBC problem? Is anyone else having the same issue or is it just me?
Running stock browser on LauncherPro on FroYo.

Can one use an Android phone to access basically local (think intranet for example) web servers to view pages? I ask this question because some cell phones with some phone network appear to use a special server to funnel cell phone requests thru and that the server offloads from the browser part of what a browser normally does. I get the impression that the Opera mobile browser works this way.I want to talk to local devices that serve web pages and connect directly to them from phones. Does the Chrome browser in Android have the full functionality that Chrome has on a PC? Can it parse HTML, do XMLHttpRequest, and otherwise act like a modern browser?

1. User click one button on Activity#1 to start Activity#2.
2. One button on Activity#2 start system default browser(Intent.ACTION_VIEW) to get Twitter authorized.
3. After user allow, Twitter redirect user to Activity#2(Custom intent- filter+data) and it save the tokens.
Now, if I press back key, the app back to browser, how to prevent this and return to Activity#1? Try several Intent.Flag before start browser with no luck.

For a new update I am changing the start-up work flow for the application. Part of this is setting the "android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" from one activity to another in my manifest. When I run an update from what is on the market to what I download from my website the application starts in the Activity where it used to start before the update. When I un install the application and install it from the same package I got from my website it starts in the Activity where I have now specified it to start. Shorter version: Update fails to update launching activity, un install- reinstall does update the launching activity. Is this a known issue? Do I really need to add logic to correct for people who update the app instead of installing fresh? Asking people to un install for an update is not a viable option. Is there something I can do to clean out whatever is getting saved that is causing the app to launch with the incorrect Activity? I am trying to create a widget that, when clicked on, launches the browser and goes to a particular URL. Unfortunately, I have had a lot of problems. I started with a (working) widget that, when clicked, opened the alarm clock. Then, using the code from another Groups post (http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/msg/ 11e54b1df3a4d279), I tried to convert it to open the browser instead. Here is my (non-working) code...

I can launch several activities by clicking on link. These Activities are - phone dialing, web browser and probably couple more. My question is how to extend this list? How to make new Activity launch-able by link clicking? Let's say if someone receives email with link myapp://something.here?par1=val1 and clicks on this link my Activity starts. Is it doable?

My stock browser used to crash immediately upon launch, no matter where it was being launched from. So I always have to start the browser twice.
But I recently rooted and went with xtrSense. At first it all seemed smoother, but after a few days, it's back to crashing on launch again. Once I re-launch, it seems to work fine, but this is still a hassle.
Thought rooting would b my magic "fix-all".

Let's say I have an app that has a "search on Google" button. Every time the user choose it, I want to bring up the browser and run a Google search. Currently, I use: startActivity(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse(url)); However, each time, it launches a new Window inside the browser. After a few times, the browser complains that it cannot open new Window anymore. Is there a way to tell the browser to re-use the last Window I created? Something like what you would do with <href=xxx target=_mywindow> in HTML?
