I used to have a HTC Desire HD. On that was a brilliant ROM, spent ages on it and it had LOTS of data and apps. One time I backed it up through Clockworkmod and a few days later it bricked. I managed to breath life into it but I couldn't restore that file because I moved it to my PC and so much time had passed that I couldn't find it. Recently I found the backup and saw the apps and app data was still inside (opened using winrar).
Is there any way I can move this app data and the apps to my Galaxy Note 2? I had a Titanium backup but it was on my phone memory which got wiped, the SD card was untouched. If there's an incompatibility between HTC and Samsung recovery backups could I use my dad's HTC Wildfire to put the app data on then Titanium backup and move the apps and app data over?
When I try to recover my apps using Titanium Backup's "Extract from Nandroid" feature, it says "Could not find any data in this TWRP backup"
The files in my TWRP backup folder are
data.ext4.win000
data.ext4.win001
data.ext4.win002
md5 for the above
recover.log
I have titanium backup pro. I want to know can I backup only apps data? I mean when titanium backup pro performs backing up are there any option to excludes apk file backup and only backup apps data?
I think it's useless backup apk files, I can download them from Google play store.
how can do a backup of data usage on ics with titanium backup? because if I change roms with full wipe I lost all saved data.

Now now, i want to backup my stock recovery and my stock ROM.
I know i can backup my stock ROM using CWM recovery, but if i do that, i will lose my stock recovery.
So first i have to backup my recovery somehow, and then i can install CWM recovery and then use any custom ROM i want.
I want to flash ClockWorkMod Recovery on my device. It isn't officially supported. I've seen some ports of CWM Recovery. But before trying them out, I would like to backup my current recovery image.
Secondly, if a recovery isn't supported my phone, will it brick my device permanently?
I have a CWM Recovery 5.0.2.8 and when i try to backup my rom using backup and restore... CWM starts doing the backup...It backs up system ...but when it shows backing up data...it hangs and gets stuck at the end of backing up of data stage ...
The phone restarts after 5 minutes ... Backup is not complete ...
In order to confirm whether there is any fault in the recovery i told some other person t test it. But he was successfully able t backup ... and the recovery showed backup complete message..
I am using karbonn a21 .....
The screen/digitizer were smashed on my GS4; I can not see the screen or use it to contol the phone. There were no changed to the stock software that came with th GS4 from Sprint (no ROMs, kernals, custom software). There were no backups, backup software, or anything I need stored on the SD card. I was delivered a replacement GS4 through the insurance.
I was hoping to use the new phone to guide the old phone (with only hardware keys and no screen) through a complete backup to the SD card and then swap it to the new phone for recovery. However, there doesnt appear to be a "backup" or "restore" option in the GS4 recovery mode.
Without the ability to activate USB/developer permissions on my smashed phone, a Sprint store or computer backup/recovery is impossible. My previous Android (Epic 4g) could be completely backed up to SD card and restored from SD card using "recovery mode".
Am I making this more complicated than it is? Do I have any options? Can I use recovery mode for its namesake?
I have a T-mobile mytouch (Huawei) and i want to try different roms but when i go into recovery there is no option to backup.. is there a way i can get another recovery that would let me back up or am i just stuck with the stock rom?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did not brick a tablet without having a cwm installed first and a nandroid backup. The tablet is an allwinner a23 not in some peoples opinion worth a lot of effort to fix. We have an identical tablet with the same firmware. If I root and install a custom recovery on the unbricked tablet can that zip be flashed without a custom recovery? I have looked about a bit and there seems to be conflicting opinions on this. The only prob I can see is the stock recovery may not have the option to wipe the dalvik cache.

I tried to backup with a CWM-based Recovery, it gets stuck at Backing up boot image . . .
Backing up recovery.image . . .
Backing up system . . .

And I wait for a long time (About an hour ) it just doesnt move, Is something wrong?
If I am rooted and do a backup by booting into Clockwork recovery and do a backup, does that save everything on the internal memory of my phone/tablet?
I have searched all over and I am not clear if it includes stuff I copy (like music, pictures) or it is just the ROM, apps and app data.
It seems like you can only backup to the internal memory. What do you do if the backup gets too big to fit on there?
What commands the ClockWorkMod recovery uses to generate backup images? Like when you browse to your /mnt/sdcard/Clockworkmod/backups/ directory and see your *.img files, what command is used to generate that file? I know in linux you can use dd and cat (block partition) > *.img and that would generate it, but i want to know the exact command used by ClockWorkMod recovery.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI rooted my galaxy tab 2 7.0 yesterday and flashed cm10.1. Everything was working great until I tried changing my boot animation. When I tried rebooting it rebooted but there was no boot animation and then once it rebooted half of the screen displayed black(it isn't broken because the backlight is on and it works fine when it is in recovery) I boote into recovery and tried restoring it from a backup I made of the stock rom but it keeps saying E: signature verification failed.

The reason I want to do this is because games' APK take a lot of place, and I already have them backed up on my PC. I just want their data to save my progress.
i'm looking for an app that allow to back up app data ONLY (like progress of game, setting,...)
i use titanium backup and it backs up app + data which is unnecessary and takes time, for example: you have a 100 MB game on your tablet, you want to back up the game progress, so you can upload to dropbox, on your phone you just need to download that data backup and continue playing on your phone, with titanium backup you have to backup all 100 MB of app + data and upload that 100 MB to dropbox and you waste your time and even money (if you're on 3G/4G)so is there any app that back up app data only? while titanium back up let you restore app + data or data only, i can't understand why it can't let you back up app data only, maybe the dev thinks people always back up everything, not just app data.
I'm going from an HTC Incredible 2 to a Galaxy Note 2 (both UNrooted). I have several apps that I don't want to lost my data for-high scores, levels, etc-and I can't figure out how to transfer all of that. I tried My Backup Pro, but it has to have root access to transfer data (It'll move the APK files, but really, I can do the same thing from the google play store!). I am so frustrated right now, because I love my new phone, but I REALLY don't want to have to start over on some of my apps. (I play several RPGs...lots of hours in those!) All of my apps came from the google play store. how I can transfer my data?
View 8 Replies View RelatedShe have a Samsung Next with Gingerbread 2.3.4; Yesterday we activate a new mobile contract with 250mb of internet usage, but She was not able to use web application (Internet, Google, whatsapp, etc).
After some search i want to try to reset application and phone settings, but, using a command found on web, I launch a system restore, and all data was erased.
Fortunately all Contacts was restored, but all Calendar entry and all Notes was deleted, and She never perform a backup.
It's possible, to find Calendar entry and Notes in some folder (on phone or on SD ) to restore it?
Is there any backup application that can backup ONLY the data of an APK?
For other people to use my DATA backup of the apk, instead of sharing the whole apk with them.
I have 2 tablets, both rooted. Flytouch 5 (Tab-1) and Ainol Novo Elf-2 (Tab-2). Tab-1 has built-in GPS while Tab-2 doesn't have it. But sadly wifi/ethernet on Tab-1 isn't working since I resetted the device for the first time.
I have titanium backup installed in both tabs and I have sygic maps installed in tab-2 (which doesn't have GPS) but I can't download maps to tab-1 because it requires internet connection that I dont have on that tab. Now what I want to do is to make a complete backup of the sygic application + map data/additional files from tab-2 and restore it to tab-1 so that the app doesn't ask me to download even a single byte of data.
I tried normal titanium backup but I was asked to download additional data on Tab-1. I know I must've done something wrong because I'm new to titanium backup.
I wanted to backup my data using CWM,I typed on terminal "/system/bin reboot recovery",backuped my data, then selected "reboot system now", then every time my phone boots ,it boots only on recover mode then I thought that wiping all data can workand now pc doesn't recognize my phone and I can't flash firmware by odin or any other program

I have accidently overwritten some photos on my Google Nexus 7 and would love to get them back. I`ve tried various recovery programs on Windows but none of them can read my tablet in MTP mode and I can`t connect it in mass storage mode. I have read that one way is to make a VHD image via RAW of the hard drive onto the pc, where the recovery programs can access it. The trouble is I I think have to root the tablet which i don`t really want to do
1) Is there a way of creating this file without rooting?
2) Any recovery program that uses MTP?
3) If I really HAVE to root, whats the least destructive way of doing this?
