View 4 RepliesI loaded the Fox News widget. Didn't like it. Uninstalled. On my home screen, in it's place, I now have a big widget that says "problem loading widget." How do I get rid of this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSearched all over the forums and internet for an answer but came up blank.I downloaded an app called power control and installed it. It screwed up my contact list so I wanted to uninstall it. Not just remove it from my desktop, but full uninstall is what I'm after.Did a search for it in the android market and could not find it anywhere again to uninstall it that way. Tried using Astro File Manager to uninstall but does not show up there.The only place it shows up on my phone is in the bottom menu bar ( menu, phone, + ) I hit + -----> widgets ------> power control. Anybody have an ideas on how to uninstall this thing ?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWith all of the questions and threads regarding battery usage, life and monitoring, I thought this might be a good time to share my thoughts of what has helped me *deal* with this issue.
I want to preface this by saying that:
-Yes, the stock battery supplied with our phones is probably inadequate.
-Yes, having to buy a better battery after purchasing a "Tier One Phone" sucks.
-Yes, usage is subjective and dynamic and one persons heavy usage is another persons light usage.
-No, this will not address extremely short battery life (other problems are causing that)
-No, this will not account for the phone seemingly giving a false 100% indication.
-No, this will not help anything but your psyche
That said, I think we (myself included and maybe the most guilty) are putting too much emphasis on what our battery widgets and indicators are telling us. The blessing/curse of our phones is that they report battery life in 1% increments which is great for keeping accurate battery life information, but its not great for our sanity. Think about that logically for a moment!
Here is my experiment for anyone who obsesses over battery life but can make it through a day with no worries of their battery dying!
1) Next time you fully charge your battery, after you remove it from the charger, keep an eye on the widget as it drops down to between 95% - 90% and then take notice of your default battery indicator. It will still look fully charged! Do this for a day or two if you want!
2) When you are satisfied that what I'm telling you is reality, uninstall your battery monitoring widget or app and just go about your day as usual for about a week.
I am willing to bet that those of you like me, who actually have respectable battery life but still obsess over it, will not go back to what I call "percentile battery monitoring". Of course their will be exceptions as some people just need that number, but I really believe this may help some people get over their battery monitoring obsession!

It's Remembering apps from Two of my Previous phones and Also from my Current phone when I Switched my Build.prop information! Xperia Neo v2.3.4 Build 4.0.2.A.62
Why I can't uninstall these applications (see the screenshot) that come with the firmware?
After I uninstalled them, but when I reboot the phone. These applications appear in the menu again. How come? This problem happened after I updated to Build 4.0.2.A.62 via Sony Ericsson PC Companion.
I tried installing "Black Hole Live" wallpaper from the PlayStore, it failed to install BUT left some sort of remnants in the "Apps Listing" that will not allow being uninstalled. It shows as 00B on all "storage" and is "Disabled". Being from IT, I like things clean and tiddy. This remnant refuses to uninstall, I've even looked everywhere it could reside using ES File Explorer, nothing. HOW do I get rid of this stinker??
Second: I'm sure this has been covered before, but I have to ask again if not. There are Apps that are put on the device from the factory, buried somewhere in the OS, that aren't "free" apps after a ridiculously short "Trial Period". I want to remove them, they're using up storage space and I don't use them. One in particular with an absurd 7 day free trial is PRESS READER. I want it off! I downloaded an Uninstaller called "Root Uninstaller APK", but it shows nothing that any other Uninstaller does and Press Reader is not shown.
There are some stock apps that come with my phone that I really dont need like google play magazines. Is there any app i can download that i can totally uninstall programs liek this from my phone I do not need.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen installing a app (after confirm its permissions) - the persmissions like "contact", "calls", etc (all kind of permissions) - are disabled to the dev once I delete the app or he always have access to my info (at permissions) OR at the time I've download the app he have access to the permissions until I delete it and all the permissions are disable?
Usually this information/permissions are availabe to the dev automatically once I install the app or he need manualy to get into this informations? If I force stop the app, will it still have access to my data (permissions) or only if its running?
I got an Atrix 2, installed one of lfaber06's ROMs, SuperCharged v5. I just booted up my phone today, which is my 2nd day with my phone. When it was done booting up, I unlocked the screen, and it said something about a 10 day trial about CityID.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC One X which is rooted, and I am wondering is there a way (or an app) to uninstall other apps without going through the normal uninstaller?
It'd be much faster to select a load of apps and have the phone uninstall them automatically..
I'm asking here rather than the HTC One X area because this is relative to any Android phone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday after turning on wi-fi on my EVO 3D, there was a system update notification. Yes, it was the long awaited ICS. Since it was very late I didnt play around it with it till today. When i did, i noticed that play store wont update my apps anymore due to 921 error. Quick google search suggested that i delete cache and reinstall app. Well, i managed to remove the app somehow (even though i got "was not removed successfully message"), because whenever I press the Play Store icon, the message "the linked program is no longer installed on your phone" appears. I have no clue how to get this back. To be honest i dont understand how a user can be allowed to remove such a vital app...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been messing with System Cleanup moving apps into system partition, etc. There was a glitch and now there's a 0-byte app that is physically removed (no files left as far as I can see) but still present on the app list. I can neither uninstall it further nor reinstall it (says can't install into the specified directory or something to the effect).
Is there a way to ULTIMATELY remove all traces of a (system) app manually? Is there a database of some sorts in Android where an entry could still be present? I would like to make Android forget it ever had the app in question (much less it was at some point moved to System) and be able to reinstall it as a user app.
Running an old Gingerbread Samsung Gio phone, BTW.
I have heard people say that you can use Titanium Backup to uninstall stock apps. I don't have the pro version, do I just go to the Backup/Restore menu and click the app and uninstall? Is that it? Also, some of the apps don't seem to show up in Titanium backup. Specifically, I wanted to uninstall Messenger, but I can't find it in the list. Another thing is I want to uninstall the Google Search so that the search capacitive button won't have that app pop up or any of the search app for that matter. Is it safe to uninstall Google Search?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am completely lost in trying to implement a silent install-from-apk-file and unistall-package-name by using the adb shell command 'pm'.
I'm doing the project in Eclipse, emulator 2.2, rooted (tested during runtime using RootTools.isRootAvailable()).
Here is the relevant code:
Code:
@Override
public void onClick(View v) {
switch (v.getId())
{
case R.id.btnInstall:

In the code above I have hardcoded the command for the case 'R.id.btnInstall' to make sure there's no typo, but I get a return value of 9 from install.exitValue().
