Games :: Gameboid Vs Nesoid
Aug 24, 2009
Gameboid and Nesoid are very good emulaters and they were developed by the same Creator. I'm trying to decide on which one to get but don't know which one is better. I noticed that both of them are rated 5 stars so its harder for me to decide. I'm wondering if anyone has download them and if they prefer a certain one. Also if anyone has good websites to download the games off of that would be great.

The topic says what is the difference in nesoid lite and nesoid paid app? are the controls/buttons any better on the paid app? it seems kind of hard to get used to them on the lite version. It seems like all you can really play are RPG and not action (what they called action games back then.

Question concerning the gameboid app. What exactly is the difference between it and gameboid lite? It is just that you can save games in the paid app? I downloaded the rom for FF tactics advance and realized i couldn't save my progress, will this change if i spend the $4 on the paid version? Also are there any other perks to actually buying the application?

Has anyone with an Evo 4G currently tried these game apps? I wanted to know how they run, and if the touch screen controls respond decently. Since the device has multi-touch I'm not to worried. These things running badly can be a deal breaker for me.

Does anyone know if there has been a multitouch mod yet for NESoid on the Nexus One? Its so tough to use when you have to continually take your fingers off of the screen. Also, is there a way to change the button layout? right now the A and B buttons are on the left and right side of the phone, making it really difficult to use both at the same time. Also, please dont post anything on here about games because i dont want them to close the thread on me. Just answer the technical questions or voice concerns or whatever, dont mention any games or roms or anything of that nature.

So I'm interested in possible getting back into some old games using the GameBoid, SNESoid, and NESoid emulators available through the market! My concern is that previously when I would download PC roms & emulators the source sites were always loaded with smut, malicious software, and other goodies you surely want on your computers. Is this an issue with Android Roms? Where do you find Android Roms, can we get a list of sites that members here have had good luck finding quality roms without hassle? pls avoid Torrents, cause I don't use that so it wont help.

I love NES games and Nesoid seems to be the best emu for android, so I picked it up. Problem is I can't seem to find a decent button layout to allow me to play properly. Anyone found a set-up that works for them?

I've been playing Mario & Luigi: Superstar saga for a few minutes and I got to the part in Bowser's ship where you learn to fight as a team. After I break the barrel and get attacked by a Goomba, the game freezes at the battle transition. I've tried skipping this battle, but so far, every battle makes the game freeze at the battle transition. Playing the PAL version, by the way.

I have managed to root and lag fix but thats about all. I would love to be able to play some oldschool games. Can anyone give me a step by step guide to doing this. I found some threads about it but they are really a bit too advanced. So maybe someone could start kind of basic.

I downloaded Gameboid recently, and I definitely have a GBA_bios.bin in my SD card, but whenever I select it after clicking browse for bios it just says it has failed. Any Idea why?
And while I'm here I can play GBCoid fine (I am using lite) but for some reason I can't understand, the select button doesn't work. I have to use the virtual keypad as the Pulse doesn't have a hard keyboard.

Are you downloading roms right to the phone or are you taking the SD card out, or are you just docking and dragging files to it? I am using the HTC Hero for sprint.

I recently got the Epic 4G and I am trying to get Gameboid to work on my Epic. It's telling me, "You MUST specify the BIOS file in the settings before you can play any games!" So I downloaded gba_bios.bin and saved it onto my SD card. How do I get the Bios mounted so I can actually use the application to play my ROMS?

I just found out about the Gameboid emulator and out of curiosity, I downloaded Pokemon Emerald. It runs great on my Droid X. Sound works perfectly, game runs at 100% of its normal speed.
I want to use cheats, though. It is my understanding that no one can figure out how to use the cheats feature correctly. Does it simply not work? I grabbed codes off of Gameshark's official website and they still don't have any affect on the game.
So what I decided to do was download VisualBoyAdvance for my PC, load the rom, use the cheats, make a save file and transfer it over to my droid. But I can't find any ROMs on the web to download for VBA that aren't corrupt. Somehow the ROM I have on my droid is fine; I downloaded it via DroidEmuRomGet. But if I try to grab the ROM off of my droid and transfer it over to my PC, I find that when I browse my droid using my PC, it doesn't show any of the files I can see using AndroZip... Even though the file extensions are the same.

My gameboid emulator had been working pretty well until yesterday. About 30 hours into my golden sun 1 game, the emulator crashed. I thought, no big deal, I'll just reload.
But now when I open the rom, my sav file is gone! It wasn't a save state as I am using the lite version, but I just lost over 30 hours of gaming. On my SD card it says I have a .sav file for the game, so does that mean I still have the sav file?
Also, has anyone had any luck running golden sun 2? I'm having problems similar to what I've read, which is that it crashes after the intro. If you've gotten it to work, what rom and bios are you using?
This app is great but if it can't run any decent RPG's than maybe it's not as good as I'd hope.

I have a Droid2 and downloaded Gameboid Lite. I then downloaded gba_bios.bin, and 2 separate versions of Pokemon Silver roms. gba_bios was selected just fine, but Silver won't run. I noticed you have to put the zipped .zip ROM, so i put both on my SD card and both are giving me the same result.
When I select the game, the screen changes, "Select ROM" at the top turns into "Gameboid Lite", and a notification in the notification area says "Gameboid Lite is running". I'm assuming this is where the game usually starts up and runs, but instead, after about 0.5-1 second, the screen goes back to Select ROM, and nothing happens, even though the notification says "Gameboid Lite is running".
I have no idea why it's not working. I downloaded a separate ROM file to see if it was a bad ROM, but same error with both. Any ideas?

I downloaded the gameboid lite version for my tattoo and have been having some problems. Most of the games freeze or have audio issues. Is this because I just have the lite version or because gameboid isn't formatted correctly for the tattoo?

Snesoid seems to solely rely on save state files and not on actual battery saves used on the original cartridges (.sav) files. These are also smaller in file size and using these instead of savestates makes it feel more like playing an SNES (not being able to use savestates) but relying on the games own way of saving your progress. These .srm battery saves are easy to find so it's much easier to load up my Super Mario Kart with special courses unlocked
Gameboid for GBA games uses the actual battery pack saves, .sav files...
So why isn't snesoid able to do this or am I doing something wrong? I use the Motorola Droid.
