View 4 RepliesI am facing a strange an issue that should simple to solve I suppose. I wonder how can I automatically scroll to see an element in a list view. Let's say I know that I want to see the element view number 6 in my list view, how do I scroll my list to see this element ?
I look at the API but without any success, just a word on where to look.
I have text area and and down to that "ok" and "cancel" button. when i click on text area keyboard appear and focus on the text area and buttons get hide behind the keyboard.
I want when text area get focus scroll a little bit and also display the bottom buttons while text area id selected.
In the application I am working on now I came up with the following problem. I have list view which is displaying items with images in most cases it will be different image for different items (thumbnails about 60x60 pixels). So the problem is how can I handle image processing for the view. For know I have the following variants:
1. I can cache all bitmaps and when I try to display view I get bitmap from cache synchronously and display it. The problem is that 60x60=3600x4=14kb per bitmap which is waste of resources.
2. When I need to display view I can register event to some thread to decode the associated bitmap which will decode it in background and than to update gui. This sounds good for me the scrolling is still smooth because all image processing is done in background. Updating list view is bit jerky for now I am doing it view notifyDataSetChanged which is updating all visible views although I can update thumbnail for a single item.
So question one is is there better way the update single listview element than calling notifyDataSetChanged.
Now i want the first item of the list to be automatically focused when i launch the application How can i set the focus on any item of the list when i click on the some other view for example a button?

Always show buttons in the bottom of screen after list (no matter how long it is, there should be scroll if it's too long) ListView should not be selectable, I don't want row selection row delete button should be selectable (focusable) with touch and with trackball
And everything works except I can't focus row delete button with trackball (although it's working with touch).
A few days ago I was trying to fix this issue: I have a header (three ImageButton's) and a ListView. If I use the dpad, pressing DOWN to focus the ListView, the ListView shows as selected the seventh or eighth row, not the first one.
What I need to do is that the first element of the ListView get the focus (or selection) when I use the dpad, from another screen component, but instead, the seventh or eighth is selected.
I had minSdkVersion=3 in my manifest. When I changed it to minSdkVersion=4 it worked as expected (first row selected). Don't know why, but there is a difference between both.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a ListView that works just great, except for this minor annoyance. I can use the trackball/dpad to move up and down my list, and the background changes according to which row has focus. But when I touch the row (click or long click), there's no background change letting me know what's been focused. I've tried setting 'focusable' and 'focusable in touch mode' to true on the rows, but it still doesn't work.
Just in case it matters somehow:
I am setting onClickListeners for each row. The row is comprised of LinearLayouts, TextViews, and a single ImageView. Focusable/clickable is 'true' for each row. Have not specified values for these on the ListView.
Trackable does act funny. I can only move between rows after touching inside the ListView. If I scroll trackball above the first item, it's impossible for me to scroll back into the list.
I've set the row (view) being used in a ListView as non-focusable along with non-clickable and have set the listview's focusable flag to false as well. However, I still get the yellow highlight when I use the scroll-ball on my device. How can I disable the yellow highlight and use my own special view/color instead upon focus?

I have some EditViews in the rows of a ListView. This works just fine except when the soft keyboard raises and lowers. When I touch the EditView within the ListView with the soft keyboard down, focus jumps to the EditView, then the keyboard comes up, removes focus from the EditView and sets focus to the ListView, resulting in an odd user experience with the focus no-where visible.Touching the EditViews with the keyboard already showing works as you would expect. The problem seems to be with the soft keyboard lowering and raising and the ListView getting confused about where focus should be placed.
View 1 Replies View Related- 2 input boxes where the user can enter criteria to search for - 1 search button - when the search button is clicked, a search is performed and on the same page the matches are shown *below* the 2 input boxes and search button. - the results can be quite a few (say up to 50), which won't fit all on the viewable part of the screen, so the user has to be able to scroll down in the results. - when the user scrolls down over the results, the 2 input boxes + search button should of course also scroll up out of sight.
Basically the behaviour you get when you for example do a google search on google.com. But, for clarity: I don't want to use the WebView. Note that there should be no scrollbar for the results only (that can be done easily with a standard ListView), the all needs to scroll as a whole. The reason I want this behavior is that I don't want to direct the user to a next screen with the search results; that would be so annoying having to go back to the "search" screen all the time if you want to enter another search criteria, like if you figured out you made a typo.............................
I would like to catch horizontal scrolling in ListView. I don't wont to scroll ListView content, I need an event only. I use GestureDetector, and in onScroll() method I can figure out when user scrolls in horizontal direction. This part works. But my problem is ListView fires onItemLongClick event also. I need this event, but only if user doesn't scroll. If user scrolls in vertical direction, ListView doesn't fire onItemLongClick event. I need the same behavior for horizontal scrolling also.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to scroll the ListView up/down actions by pressing a button, instead of using finger gesture. It looks like the super class AbsListView.onTouchEvent(MotionEvent ev) handles all the scrolling up/down motion and animation. So if I want to scroll the list by pressing a button, I don't really have a MotionEvent to pass onto onTouchEvent method for it to work. I tried ListView.scrollTo(x,y), it kind of works but the hidden part of the ListView is not rendered when shown on the screen. I am trying to re-draw the list by using: ListView.invalidate(), ListView.invalidateViews(), list.adapter.notifyDataSetChanged()

myListView.setSelection( anyPosition ); myListView.setSelected(true); and has not worked. I also tried : myListView.scrollTo(0, PositionY); and myListView.scroolBy(0, PositionY);
and there's a strange behavior, this two methods doesn't put the scrool in the "PositionY", it made the "PositionY" be the first position in the list, cutting everything that exist before.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out how to save the location my ListView is scrolled to. Currently I am saving the ArrayList of the ListView. When the user comes back to the screen I reload the ArrayList but can't figure out how to make it scroll to the last location.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn my app, my main class extends ListActivity and calls a fillData() function to reload the list whenever changes are made. I'm still getting the hang of this, so I borrowed that concept from the Android Notepadv1-Notepadv3 tutorials. Everything works great, however whenever I need to change the list (remove an item, re-sort it, edit an item), the ListView refreshes and loses its scroll position. The scroll position is reset to the top after each fillData() call.
It appears to be resetting the scroll position to the top because I'm using setListAdapter() each time in fillData(), setting it to a new SimpleCursorAdapter. How can I get the list to "update in place", where the scroll position is seamlessly maintained to the user? I tried heading down the "items.changeCursor(cursor)" path, but that didn't seam to do much for me.......................
i'm rearranging items in the list by dragging the item. I'm in the touch mode and want to scroll view couple of items then i'm on the last/first visiblePosition. Since i'm in the touch mode setSelection is useless. How i can scroll a list in the touch mode. For drag i'm using onTouchEvent , onLayout to change background for the current item + some stuff in adapter to make a swap.
