View 2 RepliesIs there a way to use a Passcode to unlock the screen instead of a pattern? Preffereably somewhat like the iPhone? I personally use and like the pattern but I have a friend who keeps forgetting her pattern and claims she can remember numbers better. So any apps that can do this? Recommendations?

I would like to slide unlock then enter pattern.

I am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?
For those of you who would like to spice up their lock screen, I have created an image of a master lock, that stretches as you slide across the screen!I have included a screen shot of this in action, as well as a link to the .9.png - which needs to be installed using NinjaMorph.I'm loving it, let me know what you think!MultiUpload Download Master Lock .9.PNG

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to have a phone lock on the Desire, in the way it is used on "normal" phones? What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I know the best thing is to have a secured access but I was just wandering if it was possible to do seomething different?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe recently purchased the Moment for my daughter, she has had the phone for 2 days. It seems she does not remember the lock pattern and we have not signed up yet for a gmail account. We have tried holding the left and center button then holding the right after a battery pull but when the progress bar comes up(grey) it goes a little over halfway then stops, it never finishes. I have done a search and came up with nothing else. She has 2.1 if that helps.

Android: 1.5 Phone: Samsung Galaxy Firmware: Any
I found an annoying bug when the screen stops locking, and the workaround is to restart the phone or restart the dialer application. This bug happens when you use a SIM card that changes the dialed number (there are SIM cards that inserts a operator code automatically in the number) Steps to reproduce the bug:
- Activate "Auto insert operator code" feature in your SIM card (usually in "SIM Toolkit") - Make a distance call (without the operator code) - It will show a dialog in screen saying "Number changed by SIM card" or something similar - You donīt have to complete the call. From this point, if you try to lock the screen, it just turns off the LCD, but the screen is not locked (if i press any button the phone goes on, unlocked)

View 9 Replies View RelatedIm having a problem where my eris answers calls when its in my pocket. I carry my phone in my front pocket and any lock app that Ive tried does not keep it from answering in my pocket. the default slider lock doesnt work, its simply way too easy to move the slider down, especially while in your pocket. if the phone stops ringing before you slide it down, the screen is still activated with a missed call notification, so the slider is still there. the pattern lock isnt an option because it doesnt apply to incoming calls.
A lot of these lock apps just dont work because you can unlock them by hitting the soft keys, or they dont apply to incoming calls. is there a lock app that only works with the hard keys or the trackball?
Im looking for a lock app that will replace the default slider so I cant activate it in my pocket and that will keep it locked down after a missed call. any developers out there interested in working on this? I think something similar to the iphone slider would work, as long as it applies to incoming calls and cant be unlocked with any other key.
I'm the PC admin for a Public Library in Florida. I keep the labs running. I have NO experience with Android. We never have enough PC's for the public at peak times. Putting in more PC's is expensive, or even impossible in some buildings. I'm always looking for ways to serve more patrons cheaply. Portable PC's are an idea for getting around this, but have problems. Notably, some are going to get stolen. All of them will get used heavily and often by people without the necessary skills to keep their data private. Sometimes they get used by our young hacking community for naughty things. I saw the Cherrypal PC and got interested. These things are ultra-cheap. That's enticing.
So here's my big question: How do I lock down an Android public PC? Specifically I need the machine to boot or log to a state that's exactly what I want EVERY time a new user comes on. There can be no remaining information about the old user (credit cards, passwords, chat history, etc.) that the next user can steal. Can I lock down the PC's? Is it easy and fast to restore to a base state that has the homepage and appearance that I want for the library, while keeping away changes I don't want? Is there anything that would keep Android from being a good addition to public PC's in the library?
Quick question, is there an app that will lock the screen (any screen) so that the controls (on screen and menu/back/etc buttons)?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI am developing for an event marketing company that wishes to have event staff use the device with android at events and capture data from people with an app I'm gonna write. What I want to know is if it is possible to lock down the device, e.g. disable the dialer, messaging, not allow them to run programs we don't want them running, etc, because the event staff can't be trusted. The only solution I found so far was to make my own home screen app and set it as default home app and not display the programs/settings in this app and remove shortcut keys. But incoming calls will still bring up the dialer, text messages will still bring p messages program, etc. If you cant disable or lock dialer, messages, etc., is there a workaround?

View 5 Replies View RelatedWith my Motorola Quench/Cliq XT the standard lock screen is a bit bland and requires the menu button to be pushed to unlock and I prefer a slide to unlock like many other phones has. However the problem is when I install advanced lock or lock 2.0 or some other locking app, it causes my camera button to wake the phone which gets pushed often while inside the holster case, the camera button doesn't wake the phone on stock. Does anyone know if there's a setting to disable the camera button function for such things?
