I created a method called insertTable in a class called Table but i can't use it in my onClick method in the main class :
CODE:.......
I want to do a income.insertTable in the onClick method but eclipse say that i need to create a local variable.
I've got the following Button declared in my main.xml And I have the following methods in the activity. Code...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did was use the search function and after 10 pages I could not see what I was looking for. In java, we use method parameters for a number of reasons but I've never used parameters in my methods unless I needed them..When defining a method in android for a button that I want to click, I had my method defined in XML under the Button element
[HIGH]androidnClick="showText"[/HIGH]
then, in my ProjectName.java file I defined the method
[HIGH]public void showText(View view){
}[/HIGH]
I was told that the View in the parameter is the view that was clicked.Button is a subclass of View as is TextView and since that is the case,is this the rule for just the onClick method? Also, why can I not pass the Button as a parameter? Button is the actual "View" being clicked, so why not Button?
Furthermore, are there other methods similar to this and if so, do they all follow the rule just like the View parameter, where let's say if I had a class called "A" and it had a subclass "B" and that class had a subclass "C", and if I wanted to use the onClick method, I can only pass the Highest Class as the parameter?
To simplify that, are there ever cases where I would pass anything else OTHER THAN "View" as the parameter to these methods?
I'm doing a Get and Post method for an android project and I need to "translate" HttpClient 3.x to HttpClient 4.x (using by android).
My problem is that I'm not sure of what I have done and I don't find the "translation" of some methods...
This is the HttpClient 3.x I have done and (-->) the HttpClient 4.x "translation" if I have found it (Only parties who ask me problems) :
CODE:...........
I don't know if that is correct. This has caused problems because the packages are not named similarly, and some methods too. I just need documentation (I haven't found) and little help.
Somethings I'll have an? .xml file selected when I compile a project, only to have a? .out.xml generated. Deleting the file doesn't clear the error, and Eclipse won't compile the project. It just reports that your project contains errors. The solution is to go to Project/Clean. This will clear the error in the project and allow it to compile.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI can now get our Android project to talk to our non-Android project. But there's still an issue: I are trying to have an Android class call a non Android Hello World class. I tried compiling our non-Android Hello World class in a separate Eclipse workspace. I then packaged it into a jar. I imported that jar into our Android Hello World class.
I then called one of the methods in the non-Android Hello World class. When I ran the Android Hello World class as an Android application, the following runtime error occurred. Here are the Android debug logs:

I have 2 android projects out of which I modified one to work as a library. I want the main project to refer to this library to perform few functions. While this scenario works just as expected, I want to introduce one more functionality. I want to link this library project with another just a java project which has code common to both Android and Blackberry applications. This second part however doesn't seem to work and throws "The application <appname> (<package name>) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" with a ForceClose button. I would greatly appreciate if someone can give a brief information on how to make this work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a C# developer and getting started with Android. I am attempting to duplicate a couple applications I already have in VS. The project is made of 2 executables and 1 common assembly. The 2 executables contain the application specific logic while the common contains centralized forms and logic (such as login form). I am using Eclipse. So how can I accomplish this layout?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI followed the instructions here on how to create an Android library project, and use it in an Android application:
http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/eclipse-adt.html
But it is not working. I can see the library project is added to my application but I cannot reference anything in it because it won't build. The R.java file from the lib is NOT being added to my application project, so the lib project contains tons of errors, everywhere it tries to reference it's own R.java file.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but in the console there are messages stating that the there is "No resource identifier found for attribute 'X' in package 'Lib Package'. My library package has a a few styleable attributes defined for a custom view I made, all of which are being complained about in this console message. The library builds just fine, and I don't get those messages in the console until I hook the library to my application, so I don't know what's up with this.
I'm trying to override the onBackPressed() method of the ActivityGroup class:
public class MyClass extends ActivityGroup {
@Override
public void onBackPressed() {
// do something
return;
}
but I'm getting the error The method onBackPressed() of type MyClass must override a superclass method. I'm relatively new to Java, I've seen here that people do it and it works for them Why I'm getting this error? I'm writing an app for android 1.5, could the problem be here?
In Eclipse, when I mouse hover over a built-in method, it displays a method definition including stuff like what the method does, input objects, return objects etc. If I have a yellow line (warning) under the method I'm trying to use, I can't get the mouse-over to show the definition. If I try hitting F3, I get a "The Jar of this class file belongs to container "Android 1.6" How do I show the definition of the method I am using when there is a warning?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I right click the project in the eclipse, select "Properties". In the property page, select Android. According to the document, you can add the library project through that page. But my problem is that, there is no library information on the page. It only lists "project build target"

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn an effort to reduce duplication, I have my app's workspace split into 3 projects:
Main (A library project, where all of the common code lives)

Paid (To make the paid version)
Behavior in the free version and the paid version must differ sometimes. How can I "call into" the final projects from the library project? Here is some sample psuedo-code to illustrate my question: Code...
just a short question for a better understanding: I'm developing an app based on the Android 1.5 Framework (with compatibility down to 1.1). But now I read about the new way of implementing click-handlers in Android 1.6 on the Android Developer Blog and I'd really like to use that in my app because it makes developer's life so much easier :) But can I use this (and the 1.6 Framework) without losing backward compatibility to 1.5 and 1.1? Best regards and sorry if this question is dumb [I just didn't find anything via google]

I have a DialogPreference in my Preference Activity and would like to know which button was pressed. I have implemented the OnSharedPreferenceChangeListener which does not seem to get triggered when the DialogPreference is selected. I have also tried OnPreferenceClickListener but this gets triggered as soon as the DialogPreference is clicked from the main screen and not when one of the actual dialog buttons was pressed. I think I need to implement onClick for this dialog but I am not sure where to do this. I have looked at the API Demo code and it shows how to create the dialog but not how to determine which button was pressed.
public class Preferences extends PreferenceActivity implements OnSharedPreferenceChangeListener {
private static final String LOG = "test"; private DialogPreference mfactory;
@Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); ....................

I have been teaching my self to "code" in the android language and java over the past few day. So I am new to this so please be patient.
Basically, my problem is I am trying to get a button on my form to open a web page.
Here is my java file.
Code:
CODE:...................
The circle not show.....but when i put the DrawO() next to mSurfaceHolder01.addCallback(EX10_04.this);
It draw a circle!
If i want to draw a circle in the onActivityResult event
What shuld i do?
Or if i can pass uri to onClick function ?
CODE:..................................
I have 3-4 activities in the application and all of them have some event listeners that work nicely.
However only on one activity i simply can't get the event handling to work.
I tried the solution from this thread:http://www.anddev.org/view-layout-resource-problems-f27/ontouch-not-called-t16578.html
It doesn't work for me. I tried to manually set OnClickListeners for ImageViews from java code, android:onClick from XML.
It seems that some other component handles all the events, or my activity doesn't have some permission to handle events.
Should I put something in the AndroidMainfest.xml for my activity that enables handling events?
Hope someone has the idea what should i try, here's the code:
Activity:

Layout:
