View 2 RepliesHow can I center ImageButton in the this Linear Layout
<Linear Layout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:background="@drawable/main">

I have a linear layout like this:
<LinearLayout android:id="@+id/header" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" android:gravity="center_vertical" <ImageView android:id="@+id/icon" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="top" android:src="@drawable/img1" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/atitle" android:singleLine="true" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> </LinearLayout>
I need to add a button to the above layout problematically which is right justified? I need to do that in code instead of layout xml file (this is because i can't modify that layout xml file). Here is what I am doing: LinearLayout header = (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.header); Button buyButton = new Button(this); buyButton.setText(R.string.buy_ringtone); buyButton.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams( ViewGroup.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, ViewGroup.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); header.addView(buyButton);
But the button does not appear. Can you please tell me how can i achieve that?
I defined a LinearLayout:
<LinearLayout android:id="@+id/top_menu"
android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:orientation="horizontal"
android:background="@drawable/backrepeat" android:layout_height="wrap_content" >
<ImageView android:id="@+id/topLeft" android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="left"
android:src="@drawable/library_top_left"> </ImageView>
<ImageView android:id="@+id/topMiddle" android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center"
android:src="@drawable/library_top_middle"/>
<ImageView android:id="@+id/topRight"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_gravity="right" android:src="@drawable/library_top_right"/>
</LinearLayout>
I'd like that one image is on the left side of the screen, one in the middle, and one on the right side. However all of them are on the left side.
I want to add a full layout on click of button,

I tried many ways, but I couldn't make this button centered vertically. It is always aligned to the top. I also tried to put a button in Relative Layout, the button can not be centered vertically either. The XML is as below. View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using a linear layout to draw a scalable background in my app. I am then defining multiple imageviews inside the linear layout, all of which are PNGs containing a transparency layer. I am wanting to overlay these transparent imageviews on top of the background. My issue is that only the first defined imageview shows on top of the background, any subsequent imageviews do not appear.
CODE: Note that imgSen1 appears properly with transparency overlaid on the background. imgSen2 does not appear. If I define imgSen2 first, and imgSen1 second, imgSen2 then appears properly, as if only the first defined imageview can be seen. I would like to have multiple imageviews with transparency overlaying the background.

I've tried to add a TextView before a ListView in a LinearLayout. The result is that the ListView wont show at all. The same thing happens if I put the TextView after the ListView, but then I will only see the ListView. Is there a way to get a text view above the ListView without to much of a hassle?

View 3 Replies View RelatedCan you please tell me if there is a way to layout textaround an image?I have gotten a response from an android developer about this question. But I am not sure what he means by doing my own version of TextView? Thank for any tips. This is not possible using only the supplied widgets and layouts. could write your own version of TextView to do this, it shouldn't be hard.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wish to make a scrolling interface. The screen is populated with images in the left one fourth and corresponding text for an image in the remaining three fourth. There will be n number of image-text on the screen and hence should be scrollable. Also image-text when clicked takes you to a new screen. I seem to be stuck and cant think about which layout should I choose. I am a beginner in Android Developing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to layout a button with Drawable image on the top of it and text below the image. I am very new to this so please use detailed instructions.I have not experimented with drawable images yet so I want to clarify before I continue. If I want to above the text (ie the text is not on the image) how do I go about doing this? I also want the text to be centered in below and (working without the drawable) there is a gravity command for center-horizontal and bottom. This made an error. Appreciate the help and remember I am a beginner to Eclipse and Java.

Is there a way to create Buttons that contain both an Image and Text (image on top text below or image left and text right)? And how can this be done within a xml layout file? For example, the application 'Pkt Auctions eBay' (see Android Market) has these type of buttons. So far I have tried and googled all over and found nothing on the matter. Help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Notice how the bottom half of the words "Done" & "Clear" are clipped. This does not happen on the emulator or on the N1, Droid or G1. But, apparently is happening on the Xperia X10. Here's the layout for the buttons (background set programmatically):
<Button android:text="Done" android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:layout_margin="5dip" android:layout_width="60dip"
android:id="@+id/cancel" android:textStyle="bold"></Button>
A 'Button' view comes up with text, while the 'ImageButton' widget comes up with an image but no text, is there a way to relatively easily (e.g. method calls, say), either:
1. Add text to ImageButton (like those buttons that appear in menu item/via the physical menu button)?
2. Add an icon/image to a Button?
without resorting to constructing a new button class? I.e. I could put text within the image, but then I can't use Localization properly/effectively.
I'm trying to have an image (as the background) on a button and add dynamically, depending on what's happening during run-time, some text above/over the image. If I use ImageButton I don't even have the possibility to add text. If I use Button I can add text but only define an image with android: drawableBottom and similar XML attributes as defined here.
However these attributes only combine text & image in x- and y-dimensions, meaning I can draw an image around my text, but not below/under my text (with the z-axis defined as coming out of the display). One idea would be to either extend Button or ImageButton and override the draw()-method. But with my current level of knowledge I don't really know how to do this (2D rendering). Maybe someone with more experience knows a solution or at least some pointers to start?

This code doesn't work properly as TextView text1 doesn't wrap it just stretches beyond the screen. I've managed to get it working by embedding this LinearLayout into RelativeLayout but it seems to be the least elegant solution plus I don't understand what's wrong with the code above...
