Android :: How To Add Hard And Soft Pauses To Contacts

May 11, 2010

Did you guys know you could add hard and soft pauses to your contacts' numbers? For example, I have a calling card which asks me a whole bunch of information, like the language I want the menu in, my account and pin, and the phone number I want to dial. All these things would be a huge pain to enter every time, and without having any kind of pausing mechanism, they would get sent prematurely. This is where hard and soft pauses come in.Check it out - How To Add Hard (Wait) And Soft (2-3 Sec) Pauses To Your Android Contacts

Motorola Droid :: After Hard Reset Contacts Wont Sync

Nov 10, 2009

I did a hard reset this AM due to some sever instability in my Droid. Droid came back up fine after the reset, I activated it and signed in again on my primary Gmail account, added other email accounts, and reinstalled my Apps from the Download section of Marketplace. The only thing that didn't come back is my Contacts...Calendar sync'd to the Droid just fine, but Contacts wont. Tried rebooting the phone, turning contacts sync off and on again, and the sync icon shows for a few seconds next to the "Sync Contacts" checkbox, but none of the contacts sync to the phone. My contacts sync'd to the phone just fine before the reset they are the contacts in my phone's primary Gmail account.

Android :: How Do I Send DTMF Tones / Pauses In Number?

Mar 29, 2010

I have an application that calls a number stored by the user. Everything works okay unless the number contains commas or hash signs, in which case the Uri gets truncated after the digits. I have read that you need to encode the hash sign but even doing that, or without a hash sign, the commas never get passed through. However, they do get passed through if you just pick the number from your contacts. I must be doing something wrong. Code...

Motorola Droid :: Contacts Search Doesn't Open Soft Keyboard

Aug 23, 2010

While in the Phone/Contacts app, I LOVE the search button to open the contacts search box. However, when I press the button, it doesn't automatically open the soft keyboard and I have to first press in the input box. Is there any way to make it automatically open the soft keyboard? It's not a major issue, but it's a slight nuisance. I'm running a rooted Droid with Froyo (FRG01B, manually updated).

I have had my desire for 4 weeks now cannot not fault it except I have an irritating problem with mp3 playback.I have 16Gb memory card filled with about 14Gb of music,I just like to let the music shuffle which brings me to the problem I have is every time I set it to play music and either put the desire in my pocket or lay it next to me I can listen to sometimes 4 or 5 tracks and the music all of a sudden stops othertimes it could be 15 or 16 songs,it doesn't pause just completely stops.I have tried different music players,i.e the stock player tunewiki and 2 or 3 others and its the same. Its really frustrating while I'm on the train having to keep getting the phone out to reset the music player.

HTC Incredible :: How Do You Add PAUSES Or WAITS To Phone Number?

May 6, 2010

I have my office voicemail as a contact but to enter it, I need a long pause (while it rings) and then several more digits to enter my system. The 'P' represents a pause. That is how it worked on my older LG phone.I needed 4 of them while the phone was ringing.Once the pauses ended (and the call was connected), it would enter the rest of the numbers to enter my voicemail system. When I send that number on this phone, it adds '011' to the beginning and the call is lost. Not sure why it does it but there has to be another way to add pauses.

Samsung Moment :: How To Add Pauses To Contact Phone #'s

Jan 10, 2010

Does anyone know how to add a pause to a contact #.For instance I want to use google voice, have it dial my GV#, then pause, then enter 2, then my contact # to dial out.Unfortunately I've not figured out how to program in the pause. On my centro it was easy, just use "p" for pause. So I enter this "gv #, p, 2, p, contact #" and it worked fine. Have not figured out how to do this on the moment as "p" doesn't work.

General :: Nexus 5 - Google Play Music / Song Play For A Second Then Pauses

Nov 7, 2013

Recently I've been having an issue with Google Play Music where when I play a song, it plays for a second then pauses, so I have to press play to get it going again. This occurs repetitively which means I can't listen to music.

It happens on songs that are being streamed and on songs that are on the device.

Funnily enough, if the song is played through ES file explorer and the little play music popup window comes up, it plays fine.

I've got this issue on both my devices, a tf101 running 4.3 and a nexus 5 with stock 4.4 rooted.

Edit: just remembered, I've also got this issue with MX Player and videos. I can't figure out what's wrong.

Streamed videos played through the gallery video player work fine.

Android :: Need For Hard Reset?

Aug 20, 2010

I uninstalled all my task killers and will be using my phone for awhile without. So far, so good and the phone does run smoother. My main question is concerning the hard reset and when to do one. Does the Linux-based Android get corrupted like Windows when you download lots of stuff, etc? Does it build up? I'm wondering if I should do another fresh hard reset and just start over with all my apps I have now. Now that I've narrowed down the ones I use.

Android :: Unnecessarily Hard To Unit Test?

Oct 8, 2009

Being able to write Android apps in regular Java is a huge win. However, I am confused about unit testing Android apps. Many of the 'best practices' seem to boil down to 'split your business logic off, and test it separately using JUnit'. This is great as far as it goes. And I understand that truly testing the UI will require firing up the emulator. But it seems there is a category of UI tests that I should be able to run without the emulator. The various Mockxxx classes seem to be going a long way towards this. But why (oh why oh why!) do they all. throw new RuntimeException( "Stub!" ); in their constructors? I can understand them doing this in their METHODS (then I could subclass them as needed) but why their constructors? I cannot stop this functionality so I cannot do (limited but useful) UI tests such as public TextView createTextView ( Context context ) {return new TextView( context );

Android :: Backing Up Phone Info Before Hard Resetting

Nov 3, 2010

I am a huge Android Forums newbie, but I really needed help with backing up my phone information before hard resetting. Basically, the primary email that the phone is running under is an email for a company I no longer work for so I don't have a valid email there. Because I can't log into my work email, I can't log in and download any new application so unless you guys know of a different solution, I guess my only option is to hard reset and then make a new primary account. However, I would like to save all my contacts and texts messages [if possible, although I hear it's unlikely], but since I can't download any new applications, I also can't download any storage applications for my phone.

Android :: Initialize Sender ID For C2DM Without Using A Hard-coded Value?

Oct 18, 2010

I'm adding Android C2DM to a Android library project. I started with the com.google.android.c2dm package that is included with JumpNote and Chrome To Phone. In order to use this package, you have to subclass the C2DMBaseReceiver service which takes the Sender Id as an argument to it's constructor. In JumpNote, this argument is initialized using a hard-coded static variable in a config class. However, in an Android library project, which may be used by multiple concurrently running apps I don't think I can use a hard-coded static variable (that is, I believe it could lead to problems when/if multiple apps are trying to access/modify the static variable). I tried to think of a way to initialize the Sender Id without using a static variable and am stumped so far.The obvious solution would be to use the Manifest or a Resource string or a combination of the 2. For example, in strings.xml I might have a "ac2dmSender" string, which is accessed in a meta-data child of the C2DMReceiver service declaration in the manifest. However, it seems that you cannot get a reference to the PackageManager or ResourceManager from a static context, so there is no way for me to then retrieve the meta data in such a way as to pass it in to the constructor of C2DMBaseReceiver.
