View 3 RepliesI am trying to make ListView which should display data from db. But the db is filled slowly so want the entries in the ListView to grow dynamically according to the elements in db. For example on a desktop music player when you import a folder to the music library the list with songs is filling in real time with the newly added songs. So how can i get this working on android.

I have a fairly complex activity the parent being a linearlayout with a table with some basic info and buttons. Then a couple listviews that the user can add items to. So these listviews grow more and more as the user uses the app. The problem I'm running into is the Linearlayout is bigger then the resolution of the screen and so it needs to scroll. So the scrolling doesn't work on the Listviews. I've tried playing with changing the layout_height of the listview and its child element with no success. Is there a way to make these couple listviews expand out to the amount of children? Or am I going about this all wrong? If so what other controls can I use?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use a few small images on my app and I was wondering if (and how) I could ensure that the size of the image is relative to the size of the phone? Also, is there a way to shrink my layout on smaller phones so each layout fits within the screen - like if a random string (longer than others) would downsize in font so the whole layout was ensured to fit on the screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf there is a image on my phone that I want to send up to a server thats 1mb or higher I want to take that image and shrink it to a smaller size without messing with original image in anyway. View 1 Replies View RelatedI designed the user interface of my app on the emulator and then I installed it on the Nexus one. For some reason the text boxes, labels buttons etc. have shrink in size. It looks as if the view has been zoomed out on the phone. If I arrange it correctly on the phone the objects don't fit on the emulator. Has anyone faced this? Is there some setting to have consistency between the look of the emulator and Nexus One.

**Small note, is there a way to shrink the margin of a ImageButton? the large ugly grey lines around the players hand is kinda unsightly.

I took some pics w/ my Eris but when I try to send them by hitting the "share" button it says the image is too large to send. I was trying to send the pic in a "text" msg....I think??? I have NO idea what SMS means or MMS means. All I know is I hit share & then message. Also, is there a way to shrink images or format a pic to send?
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust gotta say that they are in for a hell of a ride. The N1 looks to be an awesome device and they are going to get to have the kind of fun we've all been having with a spanking fast shiny new Android phone.More than that I'm really excited to see this tsunami of sweet Android devices to hit the market.It doesn't take much imagination to realize how much the Market is going to grow with quality apps.
That said, I'm still very happy with my Droid AND a little bit jealous of the N1 already, all at the same time. I may even buy it at some point in the coming months, but most of all, this is exciting news for the platform we all know rocks

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I recently got a Droid X which I love, but I am having a really tough time emailing photos and videos. I'm looking for something that will automatically shrink photo's when I want to email them. The iPhone does this automatically. I am constantly sending pics of my kids to my parents but at 2.5 MB per pic it take WAY too long to send (if the email client even allows it). I am aware that I can resize each and every photo and THEN send them, but that seems very time consuming and unnecessary. Is there anything that will automatically shrink photo's when I attempt to email multiple pics?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a rather complex ListView, with variable list item heights. Under certain conditions, I need to display an additional view in a list item, which is hidden by default (View.GONE). By enabling it (View.VISIBLE), the list item grows in height (or at least it's supposed to).
The problem:
Even though I declare the item's root layout to wrap_content, and each component in the item to fill_parent, the view I hide/show which is supposed to change the item's height is simply cut off at the bottom instead of its parent (the item layout) growing in height to fully display it.
Are there any gotchas related to ListViews and item layouts and item height which I may have missed?
Some more observations:
For testing purposes I have now reduced the list item layout to just contain the root LinearLayout and an ImageView. When I set the LinearLayout height to e.g. 200dip and the ImageView to fill_parent, I would have expected the ImageView to grow until it hits the 200dip limit set by its parent.
However, the image will instead be only ever as tall as its bitmap resource (as if I had set it to wrap_content) and the whole list item will be of the same height (i.e. as if I had set it to wrap_content, too).
If however I set the image height to e.g. 200dip, then the list item will grow in height, and so will the item layout.
In other words, the layout_height of the list item layout is completely ignored, and so is any height value on ImageView other than a hard-coded pixel value.
What would cause the pinch too shrink and stretch to zoom fail on this stock camera app?.. it has only happened since the 2.1 leak .
View 4 Replies View RelatedInside of a ListView row, I have a box (right now its an imageview, but i will probably be converting it to a linear or relative layout object at some point). when you click on the box, i have it start a scale animation that makes it appear to grow. however, once the animation is over, the box goes immediately back to its original state. I'd like to have the box stay at the transformed size (at least until they click it again).

I am trying to set up a ViewFlipper that changes a SlidingDrawers content each time a button is pressed. So far every view I set up worked fine, but now I am trying to create a ListView (including single_choice_mode) within a child view of the ViewFlipper, but my attempt only let to a NullPointerException. As I only discovered ViewFlipper today, I am not yet familiar with it and may not have understood it completely. if someone could give me a hand and help me find out what I have done wrong, that would be great. Here is what I have done:
The code for the onClick event of the ImageButtons:

I want to build my own custom view which should look like the Crysis-GUI.At first I designed a XML-based Layout and made it visible via the setContentView(int resid)-Method. Worked pretty well.But now I wan't to go a step further and draw in my Layout. So I created a new Class, let it extend View and overrode the onDraw()-Method. So far so good.But how can I still use my XML-Layout? I can't do setContentView anymore, so how could the same effect be achieved?

So my layout looks basically like this:
<ScrollView>
<RelativeLayout>
<BunchOfViews/>
<ImageView android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"/>
</RelativeLayout>
</ScrollView>
I have the ScrollView so all of the layout always is visible no matter the height of the screen. The problem is that on a very high screen, I still want my imageview to be at the bottom. However, a child of a ScrollView dont seem to have a defined bottom. The View is placed at the top of the layout. How can I solve this problem in a neat way?
I like to know how can i clone a view object which is already there in the view hierarchy, so that it can be added to the same view hierarchy again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an XML layout with some custom tabs, a heading, and a ProgressBar(main.xml). I wish to add another XML layout(home.xml) to the main.xml layout, as i wish to keep main.xml re-usable for other activity's layouts and simply add things to it as necessary.The problem: after inflating R.layout.home into rootLayout, it seems as though the ProgressBar contained in rootLayout is hidden underneath the content of home.xml.Is there a way to tell certain views(via XML) to float above other views when the layout is constructed in this way?if not, am i forced to use methods such as progressBar.bringToFront() to raise targeted views to the top?what alternatives do i have in z-ordering views when some layouts are constructed using inflation?

When WebView load B.html, the ScrollView stretches its size to enable itself scroll for B.html, then if I go back to A.html, ScrollView doesn't resize itself. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem statement, and here it is: My requirement is: There are a number of images shown on the screen. I want to allow the user to drag and drop any of the images to anyother image. Based on which image is dragged and on which is it dropped, I need to do something specific. So, I need to find a way so that I can get my source view and my target view.To understand this in a better way, consider a practical scenario. In the File Explorer of Windows, we can drag and drop items from the left pane showing the directory tree to any of the folders shown in the right pane.If anyone of you ever faced a similar scenario, please let me know because I could not find a direct support to such a thing (Drag and Drop) in the platform, so may be I need to find an innovative solution to it.
