Android :: Deleting Application Database From Emulator

Sep 16, 2010

I'm testing an application I'm working on and I wanted to delete the database my application creates so I could read all the data from my web server back in to a fresh one.

I launched adb, went to data/data/my.applicaton.package/databases and did a "rm mydatabase". This deleted the database (note: I've done this many many times before without a problem).

I launched my application again and, to my surprise, a new database wasn't created. Even more surprising is there was data in my application. My application is still pulling the data from some where! It gets a Cursor from my database and uses a CursorAdapter to populate the list. So, it is obviously reading from a database (seemingly a cached one?).

Android :: Where Does Emulator Store SQLite Database

Oct 2, 2009

I'm working on an Android application that stores data in a SQLite database. My question is, where does this database file get stored on the filesystem when you're using an emulator?

I have seen that it's stored in /data/data/package_name/databases

But I need to know where on my local machine's hard drive that actually maps to. The database persists on multiple runs of the emulator, even after having shut down the machine, so it can't just reside in RAM...

I have an SQL lite database that I am trying to copy to the device. I was able to copy it to the emulator easily using DDMS however with the protection in the device, I cannot access the database files from the DDMS perspective.

I read many attempts here but couldn't find an easy solution.

Is there any way to attach the database (let's say named 'proj') and replace the currently created database proj in he device files?

Android :: Use Gears For Geolocation In Webview? (for 1.5 Phones)

Aug 24, 2010

I was able to setup geolocation accessibility in my webview for any android phone running 2.0 and up easily. However I really need to get this feature working on 1.5 and 1.6 phones as well. From what i've read it seems like this feature used to be accomplished with "Gears" and apparently there is a way to use addJavascriptInterface to implement this. I can't seem to find any examples anywhere. I'm actually suprised there isn't more information on this or at least easy to find information.

Android : Direct Access To GEARS Geolocation Without Going Through The Browser Interface

Jul 15, 2009

information on direct access to GEARS geolocation functions from an Android application. To date, I have not found any. geolocation includes three Android-specific public Java classes, AndroidGpsLocationProvider, AndroidRadioLocationProvider, and AndroidWifiLocationProvider. The fact that they are Android-specific and that they are public lead me to conclude that I should be able to use these classes in my application. However, not surprisingly, when I try to access these classes, my application fails (see log below) because, among other things, I have no way to correctly identify nativeObject in the java classes. At the very least, I would like to understand the purpose of the three Android-specific public Java classes, and how we should use them.

CODE:............

Android :: Gears Or HTML5 Location API On 1.5 - Getting OnFailure Callback With Permission Denied Error

Apr 21, 2010

I am trying to use gwt-mobile-webkit, particularly its location api. It works well with iPhone (both device and simulator) and Firefox and on G1 with 1.6 Android, however, it does not work on G2 with Android 1.5 on it. In result I am getting onFailure callback with Permission Denied error.

So it seems, that there is some geolocation API (gears or HTML5) in the browser available, but it just does not want to ask user for granting permissions. Do you know if there is any workaround or just enable it somewhere in settings?

Android :: Emulator - ERROR - User Data Image Is Used By Another Emulator

Is it possible to change the emulator's behavior to create lock files somewhere in /tmp (using some hash of image path as lock file name)? I am OK to try this myself: which repositories from https://android.git.kernel.org/ are necessary to rebuild the emulator alone, and where in the sources is the code responsible for image locks?

Android :: Start-emulator Task Never Gets Emulator Running

Mar 16, 2010

I downloaded the most recent version of Android for linux (android-sdk_r05-linux_86.tgz). I was trying to use the the Android Ant task(s) for packaging, building, and deploying my code. I should mention that I'm running AMD64, but have the 32-bit libraries installed. The Android Ant tasks are all broken.

First, the start-emulator task never gets the emulator running. It does get past starting adb, but then just sits there.

Second, the SDK is missing the aapt binary in the tools directory. So, the example notepad sample application will not even package correctly.

I have all the dependencies configured for Android. I can run it from the command line just fine.I assume the Ant code is out of sync with the recent SDK updates. Can anyone shed some light on this problem? At this point, I'm considering writing my own Python scripts to interact with the Android SDK. Ugh.
